My daughter suffered a pneumothorax episode (collapsed lung) in Antigua and was rushed to Hermano Pedro, where a sonogram confirmed her condition. Incredibly,, without doing an xray, her doctors there punctured her chest cavity to insert a drainage tube but blindly drove the tube into her lung, causing a massive hemmorhage. They almost killed her. A week later she was sufficiently stabilized for us to fly her to New York City where an excellent thoracic surgeon repaired the damage. The lesson is, avoid Hermano Pedro, where even an obvious precaution like an xray may be neglected. Instead, come home.

Spinal injury after being thrown from horse. We were seen within 5 minutes of arriving, then had to wait for x-ray after initial consultation but this was wait only 15 minutes or so. Doctor examined x-ray and confirmed diagnosis. Another short wait for the nurse to administer injections and then received prescription and x-rays from doctor. Very efficient and felt doctor had excellent competency. Reception and doctor speak English while other staff did not but this was not too much of an issue.

I had the nastiest bacterial infection of the GI tract. Climbed Acatenango and it decided to hit that night whilst at base camp. Went straight to this hospital as soon as we got down and was seen immediately. They took a stool sample, bloods, physical exam and what not. The lab is on-site so they can diagnose gut infections extremely quickly. Soon enough I was on IV fluids and antibiotics. Best service ever. It was an expensive stay but I was happy not to have died of dysentery and we have good travel insurance. Would definitely recommend this hospital for travelers with gut issues.

Cursory exam, wrong diagnosis, incorrect meds. My husband landed in hospital Santiago Apostol 5 days later where he was correctly diagnosed and treated.

Our 3 year old son suddenly passed out at our house. We brought him here and they did a full exam. After the exam, they said the suspected appendicitis and sent him for an ultrasound. That confirmed appendicitis, and a few hours later he was having surgery to remove it. It was a scary whirlwind experience to say the least, but everyone was great to work with. The doctors and nurses were all very caring. 2 other bonuses: Most of the doctors spoke English and they accept credit card.

(Translated by Google) When you ask for the bill, they only give you a total and never a detail. When I request it, they add things they never gave to my patient or more than what they gave him. The only good thing was to save my patient and the bad thing that they took advantage of in the excessive charges profiting from the need in an uncontrolled way (Original) Al pedir la cuenta solo te dan un total y nunca un detalle.

I went there last night for dangerously high blood pressure. The doctor saw me immediately, successfully treated my condition, and waited until the meds took effect. Then I needed to go to a pharmacy, so he called an Uber, waited with me until it came, and directed the driver. I was in and out in about an hour! Needing medical attention is never the high point of any vacation, but this was excellent! I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this medical facility.

Really bad service, it took a week to diagnose a simple thing, also very expensive. Every doctors were telling me contradicting things, very confusing. Please don't go there, it's not worth it.

Travellers beware! I went to Hermano Pedro to get a fish barb removed from my foot, not a huge procedure but definitely something a private hospital should be able to do. After a 3.5 hour operation in hygiene conditions I was constantly worried about, the job was done. Until they tell me… the barb wasn’t in my foot. I’ve put X-Rays below to show how clearly the barb was OBVIOUSLY still in my foot. 4 days later following their ‘aftercare advice’ I had a very obvious infection the doctor at Hermano Pedro said was ‘definitely not infected.’ I was flown to Mexico City by my insurance where I nearly had to have my foot amputated due to a SEVERE INFECTION AND NECROSIS. I’m now stuck with a lifelong injury due to malpractice and a complete lack of regard for patient wellbeing from Hermano Pedro. Avoid avoid avoid this unbelievably incapable hospital.

(Translated by Google) They attended me at almost 11 at night, since a horse hit my leg in the volcano ... they took an x-ray and gave me the tetanus shot, apart from the doctor's review, I consider it somewhat expensive ($ 200dlls approx) but for an emergency, it was good to pay for the attention that was immediate and excellent (Original) Me atendieron a las casi 11 de la noche, ya que un caballo me golpeó la pierna en el volcán... me tomaron radiografía y me pusieron la vacuna antitetanica, aparte de la revisión de doctor, lo considero algo costoso ($200dlls aprox) pero para una emergencia, estuvo bien pagar la atención que fue inmediata y excelente

(Translated by Google) We took the patient with severe pain and heartburn, the corresponding laboratories and tests were performed, he was admitted to a private room per day, with an approximate cost of $ 69.00 or Q525.00, when asking what the problem was, there was no answer concrete by the medical team after all the studies made zero resolution, however the patient left stable after a day and a half of hospitalization with a somewhat exaggerated cost of $ 860.00 or in quetzals Q6,648.00, the whole team behaved very professional It was not bad but it was not good either, it was a normal treatment, the same is a hospital, it is not McDonald's and my rating is 2 stars because there was no answer after the tests about what is the reason for that burning and intense pain in the stomach and For the cost of a day and a half of hospitalization, very clean and beautiful facilities, if you are on a budget it is advisable to see the statement at the end of the day to avoid surprises.
