Restaurant • Mediterranean restaurant

👍 Beautiful ambiance, amazing staff/service, good food. I had a very enjoyable dinner at La Cassina with my husband - the food was good, but it wasn’t great. Maybe it’s just what I ordered (attached). I will certainly return, excited to try something else in the menu :) People often mention service, restaurant, good, table, great, Domingo, staff, Cassina, Santo, atmosphere,

Eh…guess it must have been an off night for them. Either way, I would not return nor I would recommend it. Have had better experience else where in Santo Domingo. Restaurant was empty and they threw me in a table literally next to the entry to the kitchen as you would expect the food traffic non stop was quite annoying. You would think that with that location I would at least have received good service…not the case…COULDN’T HAVE BEEN MORE NEGLECTED. No one check in on me, no one asked me if I wanted something else to drink, no one asked how the food was…I was actually quite shocked. I was literally there for one hour and a half and spoke to the waiter twice…once for a bottle of sparkling water to start with and then for the meal. After that no one bother to check in. Expect for the check of course…than they couldn’t be more attentive! The table adjacent to mine return their pasta dish and their fish dish…they stated that both were terrible…as a result I just stuck with an appetizer, salad, and dessert. Just overall not worth it, inattentive and uncaring service and all around the food wasn’t that great. Overrated. You are better off elsewhere.

We have been in many good restaurants in the world, La Cassina ranks as one of best. The food is definitely haut cuisine, with a large variety. And the service is very attentive, patient and helpful. The atmosphere very agreeable. We loved it here.

If I could give zero stars I would. The service was subpar, the customer service was absolutely terrible and absent. They sat us at a table that had dirty linens. The waiter that we had originally assigned with us was unhelpful and just rude. We moved tables in an attempt to get better service and no luck. Service was inattentive. Our drinks ran out and never were offered anything more. We ordered appetizers to share at the table, and truly we were disappointed, presentation and flavor profile was lacking and sad. The night isn’t done yet…. And I’m scared because if this start is a foreshadowing of anything…. It’s down hill from here.

La Cassina has so many good features that I don't know where to start… well, it's one of the most beautiful restaurants I've seen in the city of Santo Domingo. The interior designer just got everything right; It is modern and contemporary design that is elegant and a bit modern at the same time. It's not easy to put on, it definitely has a Mediterranean flavor, but it would blend anywhere in Europe or any cosmopolitan city. The Food ... at the beginning we ordered PEGAO AL PLATO (White Fish Carpaccio in the wood-fired oven with ceviche, tomaticos and parmesan) on the recommendation of the waitress and it was very wise, additionally a burrata that was exquisite. As a main course we ordered, the casein burger (a house hamburger that has no waste anywhere), a BRICK OVEN BRANZINO (Stuffed with Prosciutto on a bed of baked potato in a hot paprika vinaigrette, and finally a HOT GOAT CHEESE SALAD (caramelized walnuts and truffle honey). In general, the food was at the level of the place, top quality products, but above all fresh. I didn't order dessert, but they tell me that the house dessert ... bread pudding is the perfect "happy ending" ... big enough to share between 2 and 3 people.

As I made my way to La Cassina, I couldn't help but feel a sense of anticipation. I had heard so much about this restaurant, with its rustic decor and farm-to-table approach to cooking. As I entered the restaurant, I was immediately struck by the warm, welcoming atmosphere. The walls were adorned with old-world decorations, and the lighting was soft and inviting. I perused the menu, which offered a range of traditional Dominican dishes made with locally-sourced ingredients. I decided to start with the empanadas, which were stuffed with tender beef and served with a side of chimichurri sauce. The empanadas arrived at my table, and I could tell immediately that they were something special. The dough was flaky and tender, and the filling was rich and savory. The chimichurri sauce added a bright, tangy note that elevated the dish to a whole new level. For my main course, I opted for the grilled fish, which had been caught fresh that morning and served with a side of roasted vegetables. The fish was perfectly cooked, with a crispy skin and delicate, flaky flesh. The vegetables were tender and full of flavor, with just the right amount of seasoning. But what really set La Cassina apart was the dedication to quality. The staff were passionate about using only the freshest, highest-quality ingredients, and it showed in every dish. Each dish was a celebration of the flavors of the Dominican Republic, elevated to a whole new level through the use of fresh, local ingredients and traditional cooking techniques. As I ate, I couldn't help but feel grateful for the opportunity to experience such incredible food in such a beautiful and welcoming environment. La Cassina is truly a gem in the heart of Santo Domingo, a restaurant that celebrates the flavors and traditions of the Dominican Republic with a commitment to quality and excellence.

Perfect for a fancy dinner with your wife or friends, the risottos and steak are to die. The outdoor patio was a really nice place for our dinner late at night.

Food was amazing, place looks neat, bathrooms clean and stylish, drinks were good!! My only minus 1 star (One should be able to add half stars!) was that we had to repeat 3 requests because the waiter forgot, they kept forgetting things, like another drink, but then was forgotten and we had to request it again, another entrée and was again dodgy and we had to repeat it. On their side, it was a holiday and might have a different staff than usual or short staff. Other than that could have received a 5 star. It’s worth every penny.

The restaurant has a great vibe and the decor is spot on, but the service really needs work. It's slow, even for simple stuff like bringing water. The food is pricey, but honestly, it's just okay. If you've eaten in big food cities like Paris or New York, it's nothing special. Might impress someone who hasn't eaten out much, but for foodies, it's pretty average.

Food was very good , the octopus was the best I’ve had on the planet. The pineapple turnover was more the amazing ….remarkable. The only down side is we had a reservation for 9:45 we didn’t get seated until 10:20

If you are looking for some delicious steak in Santo Domingo this is the right place. The food was flavorful. I went with my husband and we both enjoyed our time at La Cassina. The restaurant creates a atmosphere of elegance, exclusivity, and class. The waitress are very delicate, attentive and respectful, very well trained. The desert was amazing we will definitely go back.

I reserved a table for the 24 of December by open table and was confirmed. The restaurant canceled my reservation at 24 of December around 2:30 pm by email. I would be appreciated if you make a phone call personally, because it’s a Christmas Eve dinner. And I did not know until when I was on the way.

I would like to publicly report this restaurant. I had by far the worst experience in my life. I fell inside of the restaurant and not a single soul came for my aid . The staff left an unattended bag on the floor and caused me to fall. If this was in the US I would be contacting an attorney but since this happened in DR noone cared . I would never recommend anyone to go to this restaurant. The lack of human touch and service to customers was non existent. This restaurant deserves the worst rating available and I will make sure everyone knows the inferior service they provide.

Food and ambiance was superbly amazing! We were with a large party, and I believe there was some miscommunication in the restaurant with the seating arrangements of our crowd. We were delayed slightly while they arranged our tables, however they managed to do a really nice job. Unfortunately, one of our appetizers never arrived, so that was disappointing, but the overall service and quality of the entrees was second to none! Still a definite recommend!!

This restaurant is way overrated. We were 8 people at the table. The only thing that most people found good was the Octopus as appetizer. The rest was barely acceptable and most of it mediocre. They claim to be Italian inspired. I think the cook should take some lessons on Italian cuisine, especially high level Italian cuisine as they claim to be. The service was also mediocre. When we arrived the table was not set and they asked us to sit and finished to set the table 10 minutes after . Then the waiter was taking our order and in the middle of the order some manager came and asked him to go somewhere else. He came back 15 minutes later to finish taking the order, and this after we called up on him. Apparently he forgot what he was doing. In sum, a very pretentious restaurant with very high prices, and very low level food.

Best service I have had in Santo Domingo. There is a long wait time in most restaurants but this one was very short even without a reservation on a Thursday night. The staff were always attentive and were speedy in clearing tables and refilling drinks. The food was also very quick and delicious.

Classic restaurant in Santo Domingo, overall good experience, our waiter was bit “rookie” (did not know the menu inside & out), prior visits the waiters have been very helpful which helps with the overall experience.

The food is excellent, and the atmosphere is wonderful. Service had gaps, not sure if they were understaffed, but did have to wave different waiters over for service as they seem to scramble through other tables. It didn't hurt the experience a lot, but it was enough to think about my next visit and maybe other options available.
