The hotel was located right by the city center and within 10 min walking from the JR train station. The building was connected to the underground pathway below, so the walking in and out in the harsh cold weather was made easier. I stayed in a room in one of the wings. The room was certainly more spacious than most hotel rooms in Japan, but the interior was a bit dated. I think there were relatively newer rooms and the others which were yet to renovate. The bathroom was pretty spacious as well. The room amenities were pretty decent. The staff were all very unassuming and welcoming. They always went out of their way to provide assistance to guests, and were sometimes overly polite. The breakfast buffet was pretty decent as well. Both continental and Japanese dishes were served, and those Japanese dishes were pretty nice and neat.

Stayed here for two nights, hotel was in the ideal location, being able to walk to all the main attractions. The hotel is an older style and the room was small but it was what we were expecting and you get what you pay for (we were offered a discounted upgrade on check in but decided against it given we would mostly be sightseeing), it was also clean and the staff were friendly. The wifi was good in the room but patchy everywhere else. There was a kettle and 4 tea bags and two complimentary bottles of water. There is a fridge in the room for you to use during your stay. There is a 7 eleven pretty much next door and a Lawson on the other side of the road. This hotel perfectly suited our needs for its location.

Totally satisfied with my stay at Sapporo Grand Hotel. When staying in winter, the direct access to the underpass is the most important given that it grants direct access to the Esta/Daimaru area. Went with my partner, who totally appreciated this. When I booked this hotel, I was also worried about the criticisms about the breakfast standards, which I am glad to report are UNTRUE! =) I was totally satisfied with the food quality that they served for the breakfast buffet and the Japanese breakfast set. Did I forget to mention that the venue for the Japanese breakfast also overlook a zen garden? It is absolutely breathtaking, especially in winter when it is snowing. Thanks Sapporo Grand for our wonderful time there!

The location is great. I'm afraid that's the only good thing I can say about this hotel. We stayed 3 nights, and the room was just dirty; carpets not hoovered, you could see the hairs of previous occupiers all over the carpet, the bed untidy and just a mess. Even when we specifically asked for the room to be cleaned, nothing changed. Definitely you can find a better accommodation than this at the same price.

Based on other reviews, I chose the hotel for its location and advertised recent renovations and would concur that the location is excellent, a 5-10 min walk from many of the sights worth visiting, notably the Hokkaido University's Botanical Garden and Odori Park. The hotel itself is pretty basic though largely clean, except for the carpets in the common area which are in very bad need of shampooing. I could not speculate which parts of the hotel were supposed to have been renovated since the overall look is a bit dated. The hotel no longer has a gym, contrary to some reviews claiming otherwise. "In the past" was the response I got to my inquiry about the gym. Overall, great location, basic otherwise.

I recently stayed at the Grand Hotel Sapporo and wanted to share my experience. Overall, it was a decent stay with some notable pros and cons. On the positive side, the hotel's location is excellent, situated close to Sapporo train station and directly connected to underground shopping areas. The staff were friendly and made the checkout process easy. The room size was spacious, offering plenty of space to move around. Having a Starbucks and bakery downstairs was convenient for grabbing a quick bite. Additionally, the hotel provided effortless internet connectivity, which is always a plus for travelers. However, there were some downsides to my stay. Firstly, the air conditioner didn't cool the room effectively, and its noise disrupted my sleep. The bathroom layout was a bit peculiar, with the shower placed in the middle of the bath, making it less convenient. The coffee machine in the room had an unusual design, requiring the use of a water bottle and creating a noisy air-sucking experience. One major drawback was the absence of a fitness center or gym, which could be disappointing for those looking to maintain their fitness routine while traveling. Lastly, the bed and pillows were quite firm, possibly following a Japanese style, but it didn't suit my preferences for comfort. In conclusion, my stay at the Grand Hotel Sapporo was not terrible, but the issues with room temperature and bed comfort were significant factors for me. While the hotel has its conveniences, I might explore other options for my next visit to Sapporo to ensure a more comfortable stay.

Went for a breakfast buffet. We went to northern kitchen dining where breakfast buffet (or Japanese set - can choose any 1) costed 3000jpy/head. Sitting area is large, quiet and cosy. Buffet is large with several options. The breads however were just ok. The hotel also have a bakery that serves delicious cakes and breads.

The room i stayed was small, old, and dirty. Compared with the price I paid, I felt that i would not recommend this hotel. This hotel gave a very services which was not suitable for 4 stars hotel. Sapporo Grand Hotel should be down graded to be just two stars hotel or economy hotel. The staffs just stood there watching customers carry all the luggages themselves to the rooms. Some customers just dragged the trolley themselves.

I stayed at a large family room, including two double beds and two dadami beds.. The staffs are nice and the location is really good. It's convenient to walk to get to Sapporo sation, Odori park and Susukino.

I reserved non-smoking room and entered Rm #782, from 02 May ~ 04 May, 2023. But, someone (probably other guest) smoked and that smell went to my room. I told the Front desk, and they changed my room to another one immediately. Thank you for the service. I was really satisfied with that.

My SO and I stayed at the hotel for a few days. Check-in/out were quick, and the hotel staff were friendly and accommodating. The room was spacious, with living room and bedroom sections separated by a retractable curtain. Even with the building next to the hotel undergoing demolition, no outside noise could be heard inside the room. Close proximity to Sapporo Station was a bonus. Overall, we had a great stay at the Sapporo Grand Hotel. We'd definitely stay there again.

Despite its location advantage, this hotel's substandard quality and cleanliness come at an exorbitantly high price. There is nothing else commendable about this hotel, and user experiences have been steadily deteriorating over time.

Unethical hotel with horrible customer service. We requested for a cot in September for our stay in December. Upon entering our room, we did not see a cot. We called to request one and they said all the cots were unavailable. Afterwards they said they found one. However the cot was in such poor condition that the side did not stay up one night. I woke up in the morning to find my baby had fallen off the crib and was on the floor.

Awesome hotel. Hotel is in a good central location (half way between Sapporo station and Susukino) and connects right to the underground walkway on the B floor. Breakfast buffet had a lot of options (Western and Japanese) and the rooms were quite big for Japanese standards. Highly recommend.

I have mixed feelings about The Grand Hotel in Sapporo. On one hand, the location is very good, within walking distance of everything in central Sapporo. It also connects directly to the underground city that runs below central Sapporo. That's a great bonus in the winter. The public spaces are also very nice and have the feeling of a high end hotel. Having a Starbucks on the property is a bonus and quite unusual in Japan. However, I was very disappointed with my room. It was old school Japan, cramped, a bit run down and with a very small bathroom. Those tiny bathrooms with small tubs are just not really acceptable any more. I also stayed at The Park Hotel on this visit to Sapporo, which had a much better room for half the price of the Grand. How much is the location worth to you?

Location and service - great. But there was an odour. As soon as you open the door, you can smell it. Couldn't put our finger on it, but it wasn't pleasant. We went out for a couple of hours and left the window open to air out the room. May not stay there again, unfortunately. Service, of course, was great and towel system smart. 2 people staying there and they are coloured labelled different to one another. Buffet breakfast was yum too.

Very good location, just a stone's throw from the main boulevard and other shopping areas. Hotel's amenities are very adequate and rooms are very decent in size but can be a tad dated looking if you get assigned one of the older rooms. Getting around is easy as there's the subway nearby and its less than 30 minute walk to the main JR station. Very popular with travellers. Free in-house WiFi.

What I love about this hotel is it's central location. It's convenient to most things you want to do and go in Sapporo. It even has it's own entrance to the underground street system which is great on those hot summer days and blistering cold winters. I recommend getting the breakfast package with your reservation because the food quality is fantastic. I especially recommend experiencing the all-Japanese breakfast by the rock garden.

I love the service and interior decor. The rooms come with quite a few amenities, such as really thick bath towels, bath robes, lavender soaps, and much more. I love how this hotel has a Starbucks in it, and a delicious-looking bakery. The only thing that I didn’t like unfortunately, is that I thought we had a non-smoking room. Turns out that we didn’t, and we could only downgrade to a non-smoking room. But who wants to downgrade?

The overall experience was good enough. Some of rooms they do not equip with the proper heating system since the building itself has built in the past. I believe this must be improved if the hotel still wants to attract all range of travelers. The options for breakfast was awesome. They provide vouchers to experience different restaurants in the hotel. The connection of the underground floor with the main walking tunnel of the city is greatly convenient. Many of tourism attractions are closed to the hotel so people can walk.

Excellent, friendly concierge service. They gave me suggestions on transportation, helped me with dinner reservation, and also kindly allowed my friend to get her luggage before I returned to the hotel. The room is large and comfortable. And even though the location is a few minutes away from Sapporo station, the walkway is really convenient. Highly recommend!

Pros: Sapporo Grand Hotel is in a good location, accessible by underground walkways to shopping and train station. It really makes life a lot easier, especially during winter. The staff is helpful and friendly but not many speak English. The breakfast is wonderful, many choices. The hotel is also near to some places of interest. Cons: The room needs a makeover, it is very tired looking, the carpet has stains. The toilet has a strong sewage smell. We find the mattress kind of stiff. I would stay again if they refurbished the rooms and toilets. I gave four stars for the location.

Two weeks ago I chose 4-5 stars to stay in Tokyo and Sapporo. What a bad experience to stay at Sapporo Grand Hotel. This hotel does not deserve to be a four star hotel at all. This hotel should change to be just an economy hotel. Its interior was a bit old and dirty. Especially the room is quite small and dusty. The worst is that the staffs are not helpful they just watched me dragged a few suitcases to the room by myself. I traveled Sapporo with my family and I am a 60 years old woman. I couldn’t believe the staffs didn’t give me any assistance, so I went up and down dragging suitcases by myself and my family.

The service from this hotel was bad. Sapporo Grand Hotel should be down graded to be just an economy hotel. The staffs were not willing to give services and let customers drag luggages up and down by themselves. This bad disappointment was worse when the staffs just stood there and watched old female customers dragged the big luggages without any assistance. The property itself is not that good quality. The rooms are small and old and dusty when compared with the price. It seemed the cleaning process was not qualified.
