We heard that this place had excellent shrimp and grits, so we stopped and tried it. As someone from the south I would have to say these were some of the best shrimp and grits I’ve ever had. The grits were rich and creamy. The rest of the dish was seasoned perfectly. Kids had chicken tenders, which were cooked very well, not hard as rock like typical restaurants. The fries had great seasoning on them as well. Cocktails were good and the service was great!! I would recommend and would come back again.

Very good place. Quite frankly, we planned on getting a quick small sandwich, but reviewing the menu we changed our mind for the famous Savannah Crab soup, and Barbecued Shrimps. Oh my !!!! So delicious, tasteful. We had also the Rockefeller oysters and Chicken sandwich. Everything was good looking, tasteful and nice portions. We highly recommend this place !

I was absolutely amazed by this place in every way. Our server (I can’t remember her name but she was tall and blondish), was extremely knowledgeable and gave great recommendations on the menu. It was the first time I had ever eaten swordfish and it was absolutely delicious. The cheese grits that my wife ordered with her meal were the best we’ve both ever eaten. I paid more at a place down the street and got far less quality than the food here. Bravo, Boars Head!

Tucked away under a building lined with cobblestone streets, what attracted me here was the she crab soup. I know, summer, it's hot, why soup? Well in Atlanta I don't seek out soup, ever, and since we were in a great spot to find some, I had too. Soup was great, BBQ shrimp was meh, bacon wasn't cooked fully so you got very chewy bacon and flavor was also meh. It's OK though, I wasn't here for the shrimp. Location is cool, service was different and overall I enjoyed it, not sure if I'd go back.

This was one of the restaurants recommended by our hotel. It is located on River Street, so just the location was a huge plus for a wonderful evening. I loved the historical building and the charming interior. The food was amazing. We started with the Oysters Rockefeller which were okay. I had the stuffed shrimp which was stuffed with succulent crab meat. It came with angel hair pasta with a hint of lemon and asparagus. I paired the meal with a glass of Prosecco for the perfect meal. My husband had the special which was Mahi Mahi topped with mushrooms. It came with mashed potatoes which he had me taste. They were some of the best mashed potatoes I have ever tasted. He loved his entire meal. The service was fine... not particularly friendly, but met all our needs.

Great service, and fresh food. Our server Kate was very nice. The only con is the shrimp and grits was very salty. Large quantity of food/portion size

So happy we ate here and would go back to Savannah just to eat here again!! We had a wonderful Easter brunch there on Sunday. The shrimp and grits are a MUST have! I didn’t want to finish it because I didn’t want the food to be gone. The crab cakes were flavorful & chicken BLT was delicious. Sharon our server couldn’t have been better. Would highly recommend!!

This is not your average Tavern, they have upscale food and great drinks with service that makes you feel like you are getting the special family & friend treatment. I got the Cesar Salad, She Crab Soup (must have!) I also had the shrimp and grits, this was enough to split into two servings. The drinks are tasty too, I got the Blackberry Cider, a fruitful cocktail and a Beer.

I just say this a must eat place while you're visiting the waterfront of Savannah Georgia. The atmosphere and the food were amazing. Had to sit at the bar before was able to eat. Ead able to sample some of the local draft here. Got their amber ale and it was very delicious and smooth. I must say that this burger they have was very delicious. The menu is a bit pricey. I also got to sample their famous shrimp and grits and must say that was amazing and see why it's their most popular meal. Also their Jack Daniel's pecan pie is to die for. I would highly recommend and would definitely eat here for on my next trip to Savannah.

I would give 10 stars if I could. Loved the historical building on the river and cozy interior. I had the swordfish special recommended by Thia and it did not disappoint. It would my “last meal” if I was ever offered one! Compliments to the chef. I moved away from chicago recently and do I miss the food Mecca of that city. This was a welcome treat of amazing food and great drinks. Can’t wait to go back!

The food was pretty good. Chicken Breast Pacatta was alright. It had light flavor, nothing to scream about. Their oven had issues so we didnt get to have cheese cake or creme brulee, which was a bummer since it was for our anniversary.

I really enjoyed my lunch in this place. Food was great, service was quick, attentive and friendly. And they can cook your food accordingly to your wish. For example i didn't want spicy so i had not spicy food. I like decoration inside of this tavern. And also they give you water once you are seated. This place close to the embankment

A nice restaurant in a historic building. The service was exceptional. The meals were nearly perfect. The mashed potatoes were okay, scallops were excellent, swordfish slightly overcooked. The bread was dry but palatable. The chocolate pecan pie was served cold, and would have been much better warm. Overall we were pleased with the experience.

The Shrimp & Grits were very creamy and best I ever have had. Highly recommend also allows a $20 corkage for a fine wine.

Cool spot on the river with a nice view of the boats going by. Not super busy on a weekday for lunch. The staff was friendly and very attentive. Food was good but nothing I would go out of my way to come back for.

My wife and I went here to get away from the gimmicky seafood places on River Street. We were glad we did. The food was excellent, and the Guinness beer I had was the smoothest I had ever had. Maybe because it came out of a tap versus a bottle, but it was good. We ordered the crab cake as an appetizer. There was nothing special there. My wife ordered the Breat of Chicken Picatta, and I ordered the chefs special, Tenderloin tips with mashed sweet potatoes and asparagus. My wife loved the chicken, and the tenderloin melted in my mouth. We will definitely let our friends know about this place.

O.M. Goodness!!!! The shrimp and grits, the shrimp and grits... phenomenal! We came in 30mins before they closed lunch down and Deb was so welcoming. The decor is warm and makes you feel like a part of the riverfront. The food was...no words adequately describe the taste, texture and joy! I was sad when my plate was clean. Highly recommend coming to Boar's Head Grill & Tavern and seeing for yourself.

This is a must go-to when we're in Savannah. It has the best grits I've ever tasted. Even I can't recreate them at home, and I've been making grits for decades. The grits are what puts their shrimp and grits dish at the top of my favorite list. I had the she-crab soup. For my meal, I ordered the bbq shrimp and crab cake appetizer, pairing it with the mixed green salad. The rest of our party enjoyed she-crab soup and bbq shrimp appetizers. They dined on stuffed shrimp, shrimp and grits, and boullibaise. Our little guy chowed down on chicken tenders and fries. Great service. Good size portions, unlike other places we visited.

Fantastic dinner. Great views of the river were upstaged by the food and the attentive service. Wine list had wide range with better prices than expected. You can never go wrong, with Rodney Strong. I had the shrimp and grits, and the shrimp were local fresh caught. spouse had the mahi - was larger than expected. Sauces on both were phenomenal. Stuffed shrimp were also great. highly recommend.

Going to Savanah without stopping here at least once is a sin..not coming here twice...is dumb. Service is beyond top notch and attentive. The food hits every know culinary checkmark one could have. And the cocktails are oh so yummy. You will absolutely not have room for dessert but force yourself the chocolate bread pudding is everything.

If you are visiting Savannah or live here I highly recommend this place! This is one of the best burgers I’ve ever had. My husband also loved his food! The service was incredible they seated us right away! Our waiter checked on us frequently as well. It was on the higher priced side but we’ll worth it!

Cool little restaurant on the river, has an old ship theme inside. The prices are very reasonable for this area and the food was good. Me and my wife split the bacon cheese burger, they even cut it in half for us and plated it separately for us and it's a hand made pattie. They have a kids menu also which is nice. I would eat here again

I would have given five stars if my rice pilaf was cooked thoroughly it came to the table uncooked which was a disappointment. The place is very nostalgic it has the old wooden floors it's within historic building which is different, they have a variety of different foods seafood chicken steak burgers from the menu other than the rice pilaf everything else was good and the service was great. The food was flavorful

Right on river street, One of the best shrimp and grits that we ever had. Kids loved “she carb soup” and crab cake. The service was excellent and the place was very cozy. Will definitely recommend this place to anyone visiting savanna

Our server recommended the crab soup, and it was BOMB. Very good. It was a very small portion and kinda pricey but still very good. For the entree, I got the stuffed shrimp. My friend and I split the course, so my picture of the shrimp is actually half of the portion you get. Anyways - very awesome restaurant. Kevin was a great waiter.
