Quite different to other botanical gardens I've been to, in that it's not extensive grounds with big trees. But it has a huge variety of herbs and plants, all labelled. And there's also a green house there. I really enjoyed it - you can meander down the terraces of plants all the way to the river. I then walked to the Bern Rose garden along the river, which was just sparkling in the sun!

Steps from bridge and river and elsewhere. Layered levels with water features, cafe with seating at various levels down to the river where swimmers were observed. Toilets near cafè.

Nice gardens to wander around with a tropical plan house. Parts of the tropical house are a bit ratty, but the outside is lovely. Entrance is free, so that's a bonus.

Not a very big garden, but it feels really nice and cosy. There’s information on the plants there (but not in English), and many areas to sit and relax

One of the most lovely botanical gardens I've ever been to. Absolutely unconventional given its many terraced levels and the almost wild character of it. Free entrance, connected to the river, places where people can simply lie down and enjoy the sun and each other, this is what communal spaces should be about

To begin with, being in the center of the city, it is surely one of the oase, where you can take a break from the all day stress or from the passive agressivness of the local people. The gardens are amazing, they have almost all climates type of plants, the only down was, that at the time due to corona pandemic, we couldnt visit the palm house, but still great path and plant designs

This is a lovely botanical gardens with a lot of international plants and trees for a gardens with a smallish land area … it is beautifully laid out with paths, some steps as it’s on a slight slope and hothouses for the delicate tropical plants … entry is free… the bonus is the cafe that is in the grounds … it’s a small kiosk however provides a reasonably sized drinks and food menu and biscuits/cakes .. plus the large areas around it with tables, chairs and some umbrellas under the trees and amongst the plants… a lovely calm green space in a large city ..

Was really chill and beautiful. Loved how all the plants and trees were labelled and that it had such biodiversity for all the insects and animals. Saw many lizards chill in the sun on rocks, different types of bees and wasps eating at the flowers and even some snakes swimming in the small ponds around the garden!

(Translated by Google) On a rainy day at the end of May, I got rhododendrons, azaleas, wisteria and some decorative garlic and irises in this garden. They were beautiful even through a drizzling veil. The garden is located on a hill, so it offers spectacular views of the city. In general, I recommend for viewing.

Its interesting Botanical Garden of Bern. There are differents kinds of Plants from all around the globe and there are poisonous and medicinal plants are also found in here, that we can learn. There are squirrels running around too which was so cute. Smells good around and along by the Aare river near in the city of Berne.

Open daily 8-17:30, free admission, free restrooms, cafe during summer. Small botanical garden with a few greenhouses focusing on palm trees, succulents, orchids and carnivorous plants. Outside is a beautiful tree collection in the park, it`s a sunspot of Bern. Situated directly at Lorraine bridge, there`s also a shortcut to the Aare valley.

  • 5/5 Toshiaki O. 10 months ago on Google
Walk from Hauptbahnhof (main station) past Bollwerk and across Lorrainebrücke (walk on right side). At the end of the bridge, immediately after crossing the Aare, there is an arched gate with Botanischer Garten written on it. Wind your way through the terraced garden. Stop at the café for coffeee or drink. When finished, find a stairwell to the Aare and continue walking east (away from station) along the river. In summer, there will be swimmers and picnickers along the shore. You can make your way to the tip of the peninsula that makes up the center if you have time or cross the low bridge in Altenberg and make your way back toward the station. It’s a great relaxed way to begin an afternoon tour of Bern.

Lovely afternoon out for two and half hours on an overcast afternoon. Loads of photo opportunities with bitterflis and lizards. End with a walk down the river!

The botanical garden is beautiful and well organised. The entrance is free of charge, but the greenhouses has openings hours. I've been there in June so most of the plants were blooming or just finished. There is a little café bar inside and there are a lot of chairs and benches to sit and rest outside amid the green, but also inside the greenhouses.

(Translated by Google) A wonderful place to dream, let go and especially to experience the 4 seasons in an incredible biodiversity. Those who have enough patience and respect for biodiversity will discover ? lizards, newts, ? tadpoles, snails, butterflies, fish and much more. We used to have school lessons at BOGA when the weather was nice, and that was very inspiring for us at the time. It is a shame that a small number of visitors at the BOGA occasionally spreads too much to make noise, excessive picnics, smoking pot and later to leave the garbage ... we are happy to do without .... The space in the BOGA is a gift of the enormous biodiversity that we can hopefully continue to enjoy for decades to come ?
