The bouldering part of the facility is top notch and this place could be great, but the entire complex is far, far, far too crowded, and at some point they should stop accepting new members or cap visitors daily. No parking is available during busy hours (which is anytime 5pm or later) and I was so stressed out trying to find parking for a 6:15pm yoga class, that I just skipped it and left. Shockingly there are people barefoot in the gym and throughout the facility, which is disgusting; there are children running around in the way (and literally babies in the climbing areas, why are there babies in a gym); the gym is sub par at best, but this is a bouldering facility so I guess the old gym equipment is a bonus, which is fine. There is a sauna in the locker room, which is super nice, but it's the only sauna I've visited across the country over the last 20 years where bros talk non-stop rather than relax in silence. Just far too many people for this to be enjoyable or to make a membership worthwhile. Kudos to them for raking in the money tho. Capping daily visitors would make for a much better experience. When you can find parking and if you don't mind crowds and children, it's a fun experience.

Super underwhelming gym, did not live up to the hype. Most of the gym is closed! Got charged for a full rate for a half open gym, no notice of this on their website. There were exposed holds that could easily cut your skin if you fell or slipped on them. When I mean exposed I mean the underside and edge of the holds, that should be flush on the wall, are sticking out. See the red holds in my attached photos. The exit sign is hanging by thread and is about to fall off of the wall. The mats are ripping and have exposed foam. Some upsides is that is was fairly cool (temp wise) with lots of air circulation. Although I didn't do any classes, such as yoga, it seems that they have lots, more than any other gym I have seen. I heard many good things about this gym and was very disappointed and will not be returning here.

I read about theft issues in some reviews. I would suggest going in during a less busy time so that you can use one of the code lockers or bring your own locks. There aren't that many lockers. Also if your bring your own lock make sure it is not the one I used. The lock I had was too thick. There is wifi if you chose to use the coworkers space. I am not sure I would cause this place does smell like feet. Overall I like Bellevue edgeworks better. The Fremont location has worst parking but felt cleaner. This location has probably the better gym than most bouldering places I have been to ( around 7 some in US and Japan). Lots of squat racks and free weights. Parking here feels sketch cause a more industrial vibe. Also right off of rainier area. They have bike poles for you to lock your bike if you chose that form of transportation.

i enjoy climbing here because the space is large and they have a great fitness/training area too. i removed a star because almost everyone who uses the women’s sauna does not follow the sauna rules even though they are posted inside and outside the sauna. about 90% of the women who enter the sauna do not wash off their sweat/use the shower prior to use. i get that some people don’t feel comfortable entering the sauna nude but this is not the same situation. here and there, people will wear their sweaty/chalky gym clothes in there. the worst offender was someone covered in sweat+chalk who put her very dirty outdoor running sneakers (not even like an indoor gym pair of sneakers) up on the benches to stretch her legs. i’ve gotten to the point where i’m tired of reminding people unless it is crazy egregious. i just want for people to use and respect the space the way the owners would like it to be used. i don't think saunas are cleaned the way that other bathroom surfaces can be (bleach in a wood sauna?) and people are not respecting it as a shared space. many people bring their phones in, which is a privacy concern and distracting to others in the sauna. the rules specifically address electronics in the sauna. on a few occasions, i’ve even seen people become quite grumpy when another person joins them in the sauna (sighing loudly, stomping about, slamming the door). unfortunately, there is no good way to enforce sauna etiquette, but truly, the sauna experience is below average.

I never knew climbing could be so fun until I came to SBP poplar. The only two downsides are: 1. They have good fans, but no AC, so it can get hot in the summer. I go early so this isn't a problem. 2. They are so ridiculously good at what they do that the place can get pretty crowded on the weekends and on weekday evenings. Again I go early so this isn't a problem. The route setting is dynamic, fun, and challenging, they have a great gym, friendly staff, fitness and yoga classes, and a truly enormous amount of bouldering. The routes are easy to identify (by color) and they have more than enough routes for both beginners and experienced climbers.

Visited the gym during this international bouldering day, so the entrance was free. Overall, it's a great gym. The place itself is enormous with multiple bouldering halls upstairs and downstairs, as well as a gigantic workout area downstairs. There were a bunch of people there and they had a few events going on. The vibes were decent (although typically forced and not that authentic - but that's just PNW culture). Despite the gym being full, it didn't feel too packed. I visited in the afternoon, and imagine that it gets unbearably busy at night. One star off for the setting, which was extremely unimaginative, repetitive, and straight up boring in most of the gym other than a few cool but super hard V6-8 in the overhang. Would greatly benefit from more creative setting. A gym of their size shouldn't bore you the first time around. Overall, great experience.

I came here for the yoga classes which I found to be high quality with a welcoming environment, but after about a month of attending classes I had my wallet and phone stolen from my bag. When I told the front desk staff, they said they “knew there was a person inside who looked out of place”, but were blasé and unhelpful. Even after the rude treatment I thought I might try to go back for the yoga classes, but when I tried to reinstate my payment I got a lecture about paying on time (even though my wallet was stolen??!). Very disappointing service all around.

Friend and I were dirt bagging around Washington and stopped for in to shower/just check the place out as we have a boulder project in our hometown. Staff were super friendly and helpful, and the gym seems like a wonderful and cozy place. Will definitely make an effort to climb here next time in Seattle!

Had a great time. Lower grade routes were enjoyable and their climbing area was far more expansive than the pictures suggest. I didn't realize they have lots more climbing, yoga studio, and workout area downstairs.

Extremely disappointed in the way SBP has handled deadnaming one of the competitors at their last boulderfest. It’s an honest mistake that would’ve taken seconds to fix. We did triple check to make sure it wasn’t a mistake on our end, and it was stated several times when they entered what their preferred name was. I understand how busy they most likely are, but for a business to advertise how inclusive they are, it’s super disappointing. My partner emailed twice before getting a response saying that they’ll get it changed. And then no changes were made, I reached out a few weeks later and didn’t get any reply. It’s a bummer that my partners first time joining one of these events was soured by this experience. I also never leave negative reviews, but I didn’t know what else to do at this point, since going through the proper channels doesn’t seem to be working.

What a great gym! The concerns on other reviews seem to have been fixed. They have free secure lockers in the gym. They have lots of signs indicating that. The staff are super helpful. The climbing shoes are spot on. The walls obliterated me but I still got through a 4-5 yellow and red problems on my first day bouldering in twenty years! The sauna and gym alone are also awesome, and from the couple of conversations I had, it seems like a good but large community. Hoping to get a membership and some shoes soon!

The place was way bigger than I expected. The staff was great and really friendly. They also had a great playlist. I think it's great for beginners and props.

Staff here has been really nice. The crowd here is young so sometimes I feel out of place but everyone here is really nice. Its really busy during the weeknights but its still manageable. The place is huge. My kids have been enjoying the walls as well.

Great place to climb with kids. They allow kids of all ages, have rental shoe sizes starting toddler 11. Adults have fun too and kids and adults sections are rather far from each other. Definitely recommend if you family is into climbing.

I went on a weekday around noon and had a great experience. Parking was a bit crowded but the gym itself wasn't too crowded. Pricing was okay and the process to get into the gym was relatively quick. It was my first time so they required a waiver to be filled out and they give free shoe rentals for all first timers which was nice. Had a great workout and will definitely be going back.

I went bouldering for my first time ever at Seattle Bouldering Project and was happy with the experience. The staff were helpful with providing tips and free climbing shoes shortly after we arrived. The building has two floors full of climbing routes ranging I'm difficulty, and plenty were beginner friendly. I look forward to coming back after visiting a few other climbing gyms I'm the area to get an idea of what every business offers.

By far the nicest bouldering gym I’ve ever been to. It’s huge. I am a frequent but not especially good climber and also coming back very carefully from an injury, and I found the setting of the lower-grade climbs to be really excellent. There were plenty of V0-V2ish climbs that I could realistically do but that were creative and required me to try out a variety of techniques. Make sure you also check out downstairs: there are hang boards, a big fitness/lifting area, and MORE WALLS. The walls downstairs seem to be most (but not all) kid space for camps etc. The price for a day pass was also surprisingly reasonable for such a nice gym in a big city.

Nice gym and good range of selections from beginner to beyond. Nice sized workout area with a decent selection of equipment. Kid friendly as there are at least two play/climb areas for kids. Plenty of places to store your personal items. First visit there and it was free. It's worth a shot. Give it a try. My daughter and I will be back

I won't give this one star because some of the routes at the gym were pretty cool and I liked the huge size of the gym, but the security is atrocious. There's no security cameras, multiple ways to enter, super casual staff (they had just let my sister in to pee without asking for verification)and this being my first time here, the staff didnt bother to properly give me a brief tour or let me know that they deal with frequent theft. Don't leave your belongings unlocked here!

Overall, SBP is a quality bouldering/yoga/fitness center and warrants its premium price of membership. There are plenty of problems across different skill levels and a really nice, large yoga and fitness class space. From a climbing perspective, the route setting isn't the best, as evidenced by the wide range of difficulty across the same grade and overall soft grading (about 1-2 grades softer than more serious gyms and up to 4 grades below outdoor). Each color is listed as potentially spanning 3 entire V-grades. Variety is a strong suit, but the routes themselves leave a bit to be desired.

Great place to hang out. Lots of walls to climb and they are reset pretty regularly. Weight/work out area is good and they have a lot of times and classes to choose from. It can be very crowded at peak times but early and late i have found to be ideal for quick in and out climbing. Front desk has always been helpful and I always make friends.

My rating is actually 4.5/5 stars. It's a great gym - accessible, multiple floors, a variety of holds and styles, and friendly for people of all levels. There's even a specific kids section as well. The training area is huge and they have some super equipment there. The facilities are bright, colourful and welcoming. They have lockers in the changerooms that you can use for free to secure your belongings. The bathrooms are clean, and they have a good number of single-stall all-gender washrooms. The reason this isn't 5/5 is because there aren't enough safety signs, for example signs indicating down climbs (the red sections of the mats aren't enough to stop new climbers who don't yet "get it" from going up the down climbs - I saw multiple people doing that). Overall, there were a lot of people doing questionable things, which could've been regulated with a few simple signs.

The largest bouldering gym in Seattle. Some decent routes and a huge variety. Boulder fest was amazing. Watching Sean Bailey and Quinn Mason compete with some of the other local athletes was an experience we won't forget. The youth competition was overcrowded and chaotic. Crowding all the kids into one session did not work well. My son did not get to try on some of the routes due to shared routes between MYD and FYD. We will skip this competition next year if it is combined. The young kids area is the best in Seattle two separate spaces, so even if there is a birthday going on your kid can climb. They have a slide and cave area that the kids enjoy. Recommend if your kids is new to climbing and wants to have fun.

Seattle Bouldering Project was a delight to visit. Having been to other Bouldering Project chains, I had high hopes for this gym. I was incredibly impressed with the vibes, the staff, the holds, and the volumes. Super impressed switch the children’s area as well. Definitely worth a visit for climbing enthusiasts!

Visited for the first time last weekend and i live in PDX. Lots of Boulders over multiple levels! The highball boulder was super cool. 😍 And lots of space for the workout area and yoga classes. Amazing vibe! I hope to visit again soon.

This place is huge! I love all the different bouldering areas and the wide range of difficulties. A few bouldering or top rope gyms I've been to only offered a couple easy & intermediate routes with the rest being difficult, but SBP has a lot of variety for every skill level.

First time going here, and probably the last. What was a fun climbing experience was significantly marred by front desk staff with rude attitudes and a general lack of cleanliness. As a first time climber, it took more time to fill out the waiver than it did to be given a facility intro. I’m confident there are better bouldering options out there.

Great place to come and play. SBP has a variety of bouldering routs as well as studio space, a gym, cafeteria, kids zone and sauna. Something for everyone here no matter your age or ability. Lots of resources for beginners and those looking to expand their strengths.

Great bouldering gym. The classes offered are awesome. Staff are super friendly. Great place to get into climbing and train. Can get a bit busy during the after work hours 4pm ish onward but still good amount of equipment to get a workout in. Plenty of routes for all levels. Highly recommend for anyone interested in climbing or just general fitness!

Went midday Wednesday and the place was crowded, but the kids area was almost empty. Two areas for kids in the downstairs area. Great routes. Our 4 year old was able to do most on his own but our two year old had a hard time reaching between foot and hand holds. Routes were clean. Would go again when our two year old is a little bigger.

I wish I lived closer! My first experience was so great and positive. Everyone is specially aware and is respectful. The layout is easy to follow as a beginner. I was surprised to see extra features downstairs, which included a small gym and a training area for climbing. I was sore for a couple days, in a great way.

Fantastic climbing, lots of routes for different skill levels. I appreciated the free shoe rental for my first visit. The bar/cafe downstairs sealed the deal - this is a great place to go for a good time with some friends.

Potentially decent gym but way too hot inside with minimal air movement. Also very crowded making bouldering on the good walls difficult. Average routesetting. Only one vintage Moon board, a place of this size needs a Grasshopper and Kilter at least. Did I mention how hot and humid this place is?

  • 1/5 Amy F. 2 months ago on Google • 11 reviews New
The place isn't the problem as much as members. Why are people coming out of their way to climb somewhere the don't live it or care about? They all park wherever they want in a neighborhood that's not able to account for the crazy amount of increase in the neighborhood for individuals who don't live in said neighborhood. How did the city council okay a building that doesn't support the neighborhood and actively destroys otherwise potentially beneficial neighborhoods
