The
hostel
is
good
but
don't
book
the
Rinjani
hike
with
them!
They
basically
try
to
get
you
up
the
mountain
as
fast
as
possible,
with
no
preparation
and
no
regard
of
your
safety.
See
below
for
more
information.
The
hostel
arranged
someone
from
the
family
to
do
the
hike
with
us,
his
name
was
Dika.
The
evening
before
he
"prepared"
us
for
the
hike.
It
was
a
two
day
hike
up
to
the
summit.
We
would
hike
up
to
a
base
camp
with
tents,
and
we
would
then
at
2:00AM
wake
up
to
do
the
last
part
in
the
dark
to
the
summit.
So
here
are
the
reasons
why
you
shouldn't
book
a
hike
here,
and
be
really
careful
at
other
places:
1.
I
asked
to
rent
hiking
shoes
from
them
(which
I
know
they
can
arrange
if
they
want)
as
I
only
had
tennis
shoes
and
crocs
with
me
this
trip.
Dika
said:
"Don't
worry
your
shoes
are
ok".
I
trusted
him
as
he
is
a
"guide".
The
hike
is
actually
really
an
intense
hike
with
a
lot
of
loose
rocks,
rain
coming
down
the
paths,
climbing
over
things.
Everyone,
including
Dika,
knows
you
need
shoes
for
the
Rinjani
hike.
He
had
them
on
himself
too.
I
ended
up
slipping
and
sliding
up
the
mountain
with
my
crocs
on
for
about
6
hours
as
the
tennis
shoes
were
giving
me
blisters.
2.
He
only
had
one
poncho
for
me
which
probably
cost
10
cents
on
Alibaba.
It
tore
of
after
5
minutes.
He
had
nothing
else
prepared
for
us.
I
had
to
do
3
hours
more
hiking
in
the
rain
up
the
mountain
while
it
was
getting
as
low
as
3
degrees
up
there.
3.
When
we
started
the
track
up
the
summit
in
the
night,
I
wasn't
feeling
good.
I
had
shortness
of
breath
and
I
was
sliding
all
over
the
place
in
the
dark.
So
after
20
minutes
of
the
last
hike,
I
decided
that
I
wasn't
going
to
be
able
to
finish
the
3
hour
hike
to
the
summit,
so
I
wanted
to
go
back.
I
was
with
a
friend,
and
I
wanted
for
him
to
able
to
continue.
Dika
decided
to
let
me
go
back
on
my
own
down
the
mountain
and
not
call
anyone
at
the
camp
side
to
help
me
find
my
way.
I
ended
up
getting
lost
twice,
calling
for
people
on
the
mountain
to
help
me
find
my
way.
It
was
really
dangerous
and
I
felt
unsafe.
Anyone
who
knows
the
hiking
code
wouldn't
let
someone
go
down
a
mountain
in
the
dark,
trying
to
find
its
way
back,
who
has
never
been
there.
It
is
ridiculous!
4.
The
final
day
on
hour
way
back
Dika
just
walked
100
meters
in
front
of
us,
rushing
us
down
not
guiding
us
in
any
way.
He
doesn't
do
any
guiding.
Don't
book
a
hike
here,
and
especially
not
with
Dika.
He
is
unfit
to
be
a
guide,
and
please
choose
for
your
own
safety!
