Updated review...This joint isn't interested in serving just food to customers. They claim that the kitchen is open until 10pm, but they close all tables suitable for eating a meal at 9pm. Twice now we have recently gone to Bar West for a late dinner....only to be shown our business wasn't welcome. Restaurants that want late night business from people who don't drink should really have policies that encourage rather than discourage patronage. Really good, scratch made food. Burgers are top notch...but so are things like the Chicken Fried Chicken. Cooked perfectly. When a bar takes the time to elevate side dishes like green beans and mashed potatoes to noteworthy status, its impressive. They could get away with heated sides from a can...but they took the extra steps. The place is kinda loud...but so worth it.

Walked over from the hotel after getting a 5 off 25 card and had the queso and fired pickles with a few LITs. Food was quick, warm, and tasty and drinks were stout and all was very affordable.

This place was a cozy sports bar with really good food. The portion sizes are incredible! I actually enjoyed the food and atmosphere. Will definitely visit again.

Can someone please tell me who owns this place?! We have been there 3 times on Wed. pm for Trivia and each time we encounter the most bizarre behavior from the staff. The red head bartender who I am assuming is the manager has given multiple shots away to the whole bar every single time we have been there. This is hundreds of dollars she is giving away nightly. She was also serving the underage waitress. It's a shame because the place has lots of potential. As a business owner myself, I hope this reaches the higher-ups because whats going on in their establishment is a recipe for disaster.

Great place for a nice cold beer, sweet cocktail, and some delicious food. The service is fantastic, and the location is easy to get to in Shawnee. I like the edamame with a beer, the fried pickles, pretzels and cheese, or the delicious salads. Wednesday is Trivia night: you must reserve a table in advance for trivia because it gets rocking. Go for the food, stay for the drink and come back for the excellent service.

I hardly ever write reviews and was very reluctant to post this one... Last night, however, I was accused of writing a scathing review on Yelp (I don't even have a Yelp account) VERY LOUDLY and demeaningly by the bartender named Kristen. I didn't even wait for the Uber I requested. I got a ride from a friend who happened to be near. I gave five stars because I usually love this establishment and have been going there since it opened. I want to support local, but not that bartender. I've never been treated in such a manner at this establishment before. Disappointed.

Snall town vibes very friendly patronage and servers. They work hard and for a small place this place can get busy. I was there for new years and I've been there a handful of time and it's a consistent experience foods good and I really enjoy the loaded tots! It's awesome. Getting back into New years eve they only had 2 people and working and they seemed to be a bit overloaded and I can understand that and wish I could have helped, but it all worked out and I left with intentions of coming back!

Pro-tip - when you finally get a server to your table, order all your drinks, food, and pay because you most likely won’t see them again. We go every week for trivia and haven’t had even decent service once. Being ignored upon arrival for up to 30 minutes isn't abnormal, food has come out wrong on numerous occasions, orders have been forgotten, etc. Trivia should definitely move elsewhere!

After reading some of these reviews it’s hard to know if they are legit. However this review is 100% authentic I’m in no way affiliated with Bar West. I just happened to stumble on it while staying at the hotel across the street. I went there last night sat at the bar and received exceptional service from Dana. She was top notch from start to finish. The food was excellent and import beers only $3.75. The place was clean and quite cozy. I would recommend anyone who hasn’t been there to stop by and make your own opinion. Cheers!!

I heard good comments from friends last year about this little quiet place that had wonderful bar service. I used to come in often but hadn’t been in awhile. Tonight this was not the case. It’s turned into a bar trying to be a “club.” The music was full blast. We asked the Manager Trey (who was actually off the clock and had the remote) to please turn down the music a little. He said “nahhhh it’s good. I like it, it’s fine.” We left shortly after.

Bar west has turned into a terrible place! I have been coming here for over 10 years now. I have never been so mistreated by any bartender until this redheaded girl, Kristen, started working there. She is extremely rude and unprofessional. She yells in customers faces and gets drunk while on the clock. The manager, Tre, doesn't do anything about it. They also turn up the music obnoxiously loud and refuse to turn it down.

We've gone for trivia on Wednesdays and we LOVE the trivia guy, but continue to get below average service. Sometimes part of the order is missing, other times the waiter/waitress will rarely come back to see if we want another drink. There was even one time we got one drink but then by the time she came back to see if we wanted anything, trivia was half over and I wasn't going to order food. We've been in on Wednesdays at least 6 times in 2022 and have yet to have even 'good' or average service, something always goes wrong - I think most of the attention gets paid to regulars which we aren't considered that yet and probably won't ever be. I've edited this review from 3 stars to 1 star. We've continued to give this business more chances, mostly out of our love for the Trivia guy but it's just not worth it. If you're not a regular here (and statistically I don't know how we're NOT regulars here yet considering restaurant customer attrition rates) then don't expect good service.

I used to go here alot. Unfortunately, I'm not going to be back. The place has just gone so far downhill. Fruit flies all around the beer taps getting into people's drinks is unacceptable. Not sure if I got food poisoning from the beer or the gross tacos I was served.

What a great place to get a bite to eat and have a drink! Good prices on both the food and their mixed drinks. I've been coming here for years since working in a neighboring restaurant. Haven't been disappointed yet. Easily one of the best steak phillies you can find! Both the staff and patrons always seem to be in a good mood and friendly.

A little hole in the wall bar that has some awesome food items that you'll be glad you tried. Extremely fast food delivery and awesome staff make this place a point of return. Great deals on food and drinks ensure your dollar goes further. They have different event nights including trivia night. Very local feel and community style bar.

Was a patron when it first opened and would meet friends weekly after work. After a year the service and food declined so we found a new place to meet. Yearly we would give it a try and it was the same old thing, terrible service. Each attempt to give it a try we would write a review and never once get a reply, I would guess around 12 to 15 years. I for the life of me can't figure out how this place stays in business.

Met a friend there for happy hour today & really had a great time. Our bartender was Dana and she was quite delightful & very entertaining. Great happy hour specials & all around good atmosphere.

A very welcoming atmosphere. Bar staff is very friendly and there is definitely a good local vibe to the place with a good amount of locals in the bar who are very open and welcoming to those from out of town. Great food selection and plenty of drink options. Great place to visit for a drink and good food with friends or by yourself.

Bar West has the potential to be a wonderful neighborhood bar. Bartender was very friendly and provided great service. Unfortunately, there seems to be a few regulars that believe they run this establishment and are costing ownership a lot of money. They treat staff and customers rudely which is not good. They sit at the bar near the front door for greatest impact.

This place has above average food but service is terrible. The day bartender is on drugs. It’s so obvious she doesn’t even try to hide it. We aren’t talking marijuana we are talking hard core drugs. The past 2 times we have gone for lunch she has waited on us & it’s painful to watch. She struggles to form sentences. You need to get that girl some help …..dead serious!!

Everyone knows that most of these reviews are written by angry ex employees or fake Accts. However this is not one of those situations. I am a restaurant owner of 15 years. We were in town visiting family over Labor Day weekend and stopped in Bar West on Sunday pm to have a drink. We had the best service that I have received in a very long time. The bartender (who I won’t name because when I told her I was going to write a review she said please don’t say my name because people will think she wrote it ) she was personable , attentive and gave the best customer service I’ve had in years. If she was in the Chicago area I would definitely employ her !! We had an enjoyable time and definitely will come back on our next visit to KC.

Used to come here regularly, but the service has really gotten bad unless they're almost empty. Brought in a group of 10 for dinner. Sat for 10 minutes without a server coming to the table or even trying to make eye contact with us. Went a couple doors down and had a great experience.
