Our first room felt stone cold as soon as we entered and incredibly colder than the hallways (we considered sleeping in the halls later on). Due to the coldness we asked for a fan heater or something and one arrived quickly but unfortunately it was a noisy electric fan and took a long time to heat the room. This had to be turned off due to the noise and the room cooled down really quickly when it was. The bathroom was absolutely stone cold throughout our stay with freezing tiled floor and druaghty wooden framed windows. During the second day we experienced rain and within 20 minutes the water was literally running through the wall under the window to create a large puddle. Following the cold and now the water we exited our room and sought a room change at reception, being reallocated to a "suite" on the fourth floor. This was better, in that it was warmer and watertight, but overall the room standard was not high and both we experienced felt very tired. As way of an apology we were granted a complimentary breakfast and assured a "note" would be added to our room bill for checkout to have the breakfast cost removed. Upon checkout we were asked to settle the £20 breakfast bill but explained we had been granted these as complimentary. The very rude young lady snapped back "why!?". It was here that we explained the room issues and who had issued the breakfasts (male member of staff with glasses and black stud earring whom we believe was a manager and actually the most professional member of staff we dealt with). On our first night stay we experienced a brief fire alarm (10 seconds) around 05:50 followed by the same around 1 minute later. Our room phone was flashing "Reception" so we phoned down to ask if everything was okay and asked should we leave the room? We were firstly assured everything was okay but then asked "is everything okay?" Which made us feel as though staff didn't know if everything actually was okay. About 05:55 the fire alarm sounded and kept going so we got up and went downstairs along with most other guests to find that the fire brigade had arrived. We saw a member of staff act out to other guests that someone had poured something over themselves then set it on fire, which was confirmed when a guest was brought down covered in alcohol, soot and coughing. The safety issue is we were told the the following day that the first two alarms were silenced by staff, hence the two 10 second bursts, before they investigated the cause. Why a fire alarm is silenced immediately in a hotel is beyond me and a safety concern. Overall, our stay was very sub-standard and we simply won't stay here again when we inevitably return to Bradford.

We booked the great victoria on the basis of the lovely pictures we saw on the website but unfortunately it was anything but. The room, 220, was horribly tight, dilapidated and in need of repair. Room was very cold and only kept warm through a small fan heater. Bathroom rail also was not working so was freezing. Toilet seat was broken and it was reported three times but not repaired. Water flow through bath was too slow. Cleaner had loads of disposable slippers but was refused one when i asked. Loud gusts of high speed winds kept me and baby up till 3 am, sounds also coming from other rooms. If only we'd paid less and stayed at holiday inn or travel lodge we probably would have had a better stay and saved money. For the money we paid i expected better and was hoping for a more comfortable stay. Hotel needs a huge huge improvement!

We booked for the valentines stay and were quite pleased with everything. The only downside was, when advertised and booking the executive room it was shown with a roll top Bath in the room, this was not the case and when questioned the hotel stated that it always advertised the better rooms but that wasn't what you got. Hmm?! The phone in the room wasn't working so we were unable to take advantage of the 24 hour room service and we had to ask for them to change the sheets on our bed as they were stained with what appeared to be blood, staff were very apologetic and changed them straight away when notified. The evening meal was lovely, breakfast wasn't amazing but for the price paid, room, 3 course dinner, breakfast and fizz all in we can't grumble and had a lovely weekend.

Absolutely LOVE staying at this hotel. Have visited other Bradford hotels and the difference here is significant in terms of the things that matter most to me, the levels of comfort, but particularly the friendliness of staff and their willingness to go out of their way to make guests feel welcome and comfortable is really appreciated. Each of the rooms I've stayed in have been different which I've appreciated. Breakfast is good value and plenty available. Evening meals in the restaurant are terrific value, particularly 3 course option - but would recommend reserving in advance as they can occasionally be very busy. I've been recommending the hotel to other visitors to Bradford. It's a stunning building with lots of history and convenient for rail, bus and parking on site.

Stayed here for three nights for a family wedding. Lovely hotel, great and welcoming staff and a great location opposite the train station and a 2-3 minute walk into the city centre. We had breakfast included which was one of the best hotel breakfasts I've had as a coeliac - plenty of choice and always plenty of food (which was definitely needed and much welcomed!). The bar was great, very welcoming and big enough to accommodate our large party. And on a personal note it was only a ten minute walk from the wedding reception so no taxis needed either which saved us a fortune. Great hotel, well looked after and incredibly priced. Would definitely return again for another stay. Thank you!

The food is great, as are the service staff and the beautiful building. Everything else not. You will need photo id at check in, even if prepaid. They will turn you away without it, even if you have been driving for 6 hours and weren't aware. Very unfriendly check in experience. Avoid room 111, where the lights are always on (huge external light at window is on all night), and the party is always going (right above the lobby). The bath drains as quickly as it fills even with plug in, so it's strictly showers only. Very hot bedroom, very cold bathroom. No control of these. And forget about an upgrade, regardless of your loyalty scheme you won't get one. Good luck!

Decor was dated and not of great quality. In our room there was evidence of a leak down one of the walls and heavy stains on the carpet. Otherwise the bathroom was clean and bedding fresh and clean. For the price, we were happy. Ideally situated opposite the train station and a short walk from the centre of town. Staff were polite and helpful. Can't comment on food as we did use the restaurant.

This is a very comfortable hotel but unfortunately on the night we stayed there was a Take that tribute act on. Our room was directly above the function room and music was so loud that the room was vibrating until 1am until it finally stopped. We wasn't warned about this or I would of requested another room. The breakfast was great which almost made up for the poor night's sleep. Great location close the railway station and a short walk from the Theatre and science & Media museum.

We recently had our wedding here and cannot speak highly enough of the staff, quantity of food and overall service. From the outside you might not appreciate the potential being next to the courts and bus/train station but once in you would never know they were there and what they did to the rooms for the wedding was incredible. Dan and Robert along with the rest of the staff were fantastic, absolutely everyone commented on how nice the food was and the breakfast the following day was also good. Our room was veery special being the penthouse but other rooms we visited were also nicely done and roomy along with being clean and great facilities. It was easy to find, good parking facilities and overall have to give it a 10 out of 10 - Well done and will not be forgotten!

Great staff going up and beyond what you would normally expect. Nice room and in a great central location. Bar and restaurant top notch also.

Went for a Xmas do - bar staff, although very polite and professional were incredibly slow! The upstairs bar had a queue out of the door with well over 30 people waiting for a drink. The downstairs one, despite no queue still took about 20 mins to get a drink! Food was ok, nothing special and wasn't worth the money we spent for the night out there. The singer was great though & she walked about through the tables during her set and engaged well with the audience.

Food was good, it is always a challenge for hospitality to get hot food out to large groups. They did really well apart from the clearing up this could have been a bit quicker. The entertainment was good too. Definitely a good Xmas party venue.

Terrible. Bathroom curtain is a see through piece of fabric. They had a disco blaring so loud we could here it in our room the other side of the hotel until 12.30 so no sleep for us! The windows and so thin they don’t block out any traffic noise so worst night sleep I’ve ever had. Shame as the room was nice and bed was comfy . The disco should have been mentioned when we checked in we had 7 hours or travelling and were very tired . Never again!!

Got upgraded to an executive double room with roll top bath for no extra charge...amazing. Excellent location right across the road from train station and cinema and one of the cheapest pubs anywhere. Highly recommend.

This is a beautiful building. The rooms are basic but have the essentials. The rooms on the main road can be a bit noisy as the windows are not very sound proof. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The restaurant has a reasonable selection to choose from.

Lovely contemporary hotel, great food, especially breakfast, which was very filling. The executive room was reasonably spacious, though the mattress was not very comfortable, and the bathroom, although very clean and tidy, it was quite compact. The room phone was not upgraded to their new network, so we couldn't call reception on the extn we were given. Though it did work for normal calls. Staff were all very helpful and polite, sorting an issue with our TV very quickly after we checked in. Absolutely perfect location if going to a show at St Georges Hall as it's literally next door. Generous amount of parking is available behind the hotel at £5 a night. Definitely consider staying again if in Bradford.

Well placed hotel for city centre activities, directly next door to St George's Hall. Stayed one night with a late book in. Bloke on reception was a bit of a surly fella and wasn't exactly forthcoming with information e.g. when breakfast was, check out times etc. However, this was made up for by the cheerful & informative girl on the desk the next morning at checkout. There was an event going on and for some reason, when it was finished and clear-up began, all the used glasses from the function room were brought through and dumped on the bar in the public bar area for the bar staff to wash. This did not make for a pleasant backdrop for other drinkers in the bar and I did feel sorry for the two staff trying to work their way through dozens of glasses to wash whilst serving customers in the bar.

My husband and I stayed there Friday, 17th Feb. We had a lovely, well furnished room on 4th floor. The dinner on the night was wonderful, well presented, and breakfast next morning was good quality food and plentiful. The only negative was the appearance of outside entrance could be improved. But a lovely stay with friendly staff.

Went on a Christmas night out here. The drinks are way overpriced, you are looking at £26 for a bottle of wine and small lemonade. And a cider and Gin with lemonade mixer was £17. Friends of ours stayed over and their room was freezing. When they complained they was told it didn't go on until 5pm however the heating didn't go on at all.

There's nothing 'great' about The Great Victoria Hotel any longer, it has definitely seen better days. Needs updating, a serious clean, maintenance & staff training. The dated dark paint job has suffered much ware over many years, leaving scuffed & chipped paintwork everywhere you look. The front entrance hasn’t seen a sweeping brush &/or paintbrush for years. The carpets need cleaning especially in the bedroom/s, the entrance hall tiles can’t have shined this century. Every window ledge was dirty. The ceiling panel above the bathroom door was coming away, the TV worked if & when it wanted both the remote & signal were intermittent, the room door was insecure when checked on leaving. Bath enamel was chipped. Telephone booking turns out to be hit & miss. On arrival found only 1 room booked although had booked 2 rooms (thankfully there were rooms available). English breakfast but cold plates..!! For the price it’s a Nul Pwa… Thankfully booked into cleaner & cheaper alternative for remainder of stay in Bradford…

Central position, right next to town centre with it's own parking. Great Victorian style old building with large corridors and majestic doors, comfortable rooms and nice bathrooms with modern showers. Not air conditioned so if it's a very hot day, can struggle. Venue for small weddings and parties too..

Big hotel, free parking in the centre of Bradford. Gym was decent, room was at the top and decent with exposed beams and quirk. Food at the restaurant was well proces and tasty with a decent hotel drink selection. Staff were helpful.

I attended a conference here and was disappointed to find there was no disabled parking attached to the hotel. The room used for the conference was crammed full of tables (the room's capacity had been shared with the conference organiser) and this made it difficult to manoeuvre on crutches or in a wheelchair. Would recommend at least 2 fewer tables.

Terrible rooms. Washrooms are good. Walls are poorly repaired, door closets are broken. Carpet is old. Some rooms are not properly designed.

Room was freezing throughout the night as window had been left wide open in middle of December assuming by the maid. Struggled to warm up as radiator was luke warm and windows are drafty and single glazed. Hotel tried to add a refundable £50 charge per night but I flatly refused as this could take 5-7 days to return to bank, they do not tell you this when booking.

The rooms are cold and they are using small heaters that all the times give electric shorts. The room heater is not working. The bathroom towels smells of food not sure if the storage is near the kitchen. The hotel is clean and the staff are very friendly. But I am pretty sure these things can be managed and fixed easily. And I was not sure why the windows can’t be open. I couldn’t leave the heater all night on as I was scared that small cheap heater will start a fire because of the shorts it was making. Room 205 just in case you want to look and sort it.

Absolutely freezing. One of the worst places to stay simply because there was no heating in the room. Should have taken note when there were electric fan heaters in the room, unfortunately it was very late and the kids were tired and got into bed straight away.. would have been better to have stayed at a travel lodge or premier inn Bathroom was freezing with no heating

We recently got married at the hotel and it honestly couldn't have been any better! All the staff were so friendly and helpful. They made sure we had everything we needed and it ran just how we wanted it to. In particular I would like to say a massive thank you to Dan and Robert who went over and above to ensure our day was perfect. It was such a bonus on the day to have all our guests coming up to us to say, "what an amazing wedding" and "it's the best wedding I've ever been to". These comments were specifically due to the hotels attention to detail in the planning, preparation and delivery of our wedding. I would not hesitate to recommend them for your special day. 😁⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

We had a pleasant stay, but things can be improved a lot. The staff member at reception who checked us in was exceptional. I think his name was Sandy. The room itself is a little dated. The toilet seat was broken, but we made do. They only have about 5 rooms with Smart TVs so all the other rooms are freeview which was boring. The Q&As on booking.com suggested that all the rooms had a smart TV. Hence why I chose to stay here. Overall, it was a nice stay but wouldn't stay here again.

We had a great stay at the hotel. The rooms were large and well decorated, and all the staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was a buffet with a decent choice, and there was plenty of tea in the rooms. Lots of channels on the tv, and a powerful hot shower. There’s beautiful original features throughout the hotel. For a 3 star so central I think it’s a great deal.

First class function venue, excellent staff that go above and beyond. I had very interesting history lesson about the hotel and immediate vicinity from the night time concierge, if you get a chance, ask him about it yourself.

I was really happy for the money we paid! Room was clean, staff were nice and the food in the restaurant was divine! The price included a full English breakfast. Beds were comfy! It’s an old hotel with character. Total bargain to be honest! It’s really central to city park and the theatres etc.

The Great Victoria is the best hotel to stay at for those working at Crown Court. The hotel is directly opposite the Court and Train Station. The reception, restaurant and Bar staff are very friendly and go out of their way to help you with even the smallest queries. The beds are comfortable and the rooms have desks which are big enough to work at properly. There is no task too big or small for the staff to help you with. I am so grateful to the staff at the Hotel for making my stay feel like a home away from home for the 10 weeks I was there. I will certainly book again next time I am working in Bradford.

Attended Christmas Day for lunch, along with my daughter and son in law who had travelled up from the South West of England to stay for a few days. Absolutely superb, couldn't fault any part of the lunch. Lovely hotel, excellent staff who worked their socks off. A thoroughly delightful experience. Just may have to do it again next year!!!

Room smelled of smoke. Windows did not open so I couldn't even get fresh air into the room. The beds were comfy however with no aircon the room was very stuffy. The bath was nice but the water keep draining out even with the plug in properly. Location is okay wouldn't be somewhere I'd go to again breakfast was nice

Old hotel with tons of character. Enjoyed the huge hallways and the photos of old Bradford. The room I had was spacious, bathroom looked like it was recently refurbished and was very nice. The bed fantastic slept really well. Downside, it needed a new paint job and the windows would not close. Ate in the restaurant a few times and found the meals very good on the whole. Location great for the main transportation hub (Bradford interchange). Also close to main shopping area which is adequate at best (went to Leeds for shopping and restaurants). All in all a very pleasant experience.

My first visit to the hotel, an 1860s hotel, still remarkably well kept up. The whole plane was clean, the rooms well appointed and fresh. The staff very friendly and helpful. We only had experience of the bed and breakfast, but breakfast was buffet style and plentiful, with a good variety of hot and cold food. Will definitely go again

A beautiful hotel with friendly service that sadly has seen better days. The lovely interiors just need a refresh. We missed the air conditioning in other hotels as the windows didn't open and we visited in hot weather. Being in a central location it can get noisy in the evenings and there is just single glazing. Make sure you don't book Room 106 due to the strange toilet alignment.

Staff were really lovely and wanted to help.. my teen daughter was unhappy because the WiFi wasn’t working so they tried resetting it twice because we asked, the water was leaking out of the bath so they offered to fix it straight away. It’s a lovely relaxing environment - classic decor mostly with contemporary touches. The beds are comfortable and room was great as was the bathroom with both bath and shower.. perfect for the two of us. We had a standard twin and there was plenty of space that we could both chill and get ready without annoying each other :) thank you .. did I mention the lovely food?! Lovely breakfast and dinner! We tried for afternoon tea too but given that I was trying to book it at 10am for 12 unfortunately but unsurprisingly they said no :/

Went to a wedding here. Room looked lovely, place was lovely. But the price of drinks was a joke. One of the kids went in for some water and the bar staff wanted to charge him 2.40 for a glass of water. Absolutely shocking.

Quite disappointed with this 4 star hotel to be honest! £200 for 2 nights and still have to pay for parking on the top of it! So, no free parking, the lift was broken (and was not even asked if I would be okay going upstairs), no air conditioning (apparently there's central heating but that's not good as we are all different aren't we?), no fridge, no curtains in the bathroom (so I just need to be blinded by the sun while using the toilet!), breakfast was basic and it took the room service over an hour to bring me coffee as they were 'to busy with a wedding at the moment ' and I had to call them twice.

Booked the 5 course Christmas meal. We were seated in one of the large function rooms with grand Victorian features which was a nice setting. It was quiet at our allocated time so courses came out promptly; and staff were polite and attentive for the most part. The dishes were all really well presented and tasted really good. As the room filled up they did crank the music volume up perhaps too much. And the tables were perhaps crammed in little too tightly. Towards the end of our meal we were left with empty dessert plates for about 20 minutes and we had to flag a waiter down to ask for them to be cleared away but it is understandable as larger parties had arrived and the staff did seem a bit overrun. But they were apologetic and as it was at the end of the meal it didn't detract away from the experience too much; and the subsequent coffee course arrived promptly. Overall a really good experience and worth the cost.
