Buffets with a good variety of food are always a treat if you are wanting to spend a lazy afternoon with good company and conversation. My personal favorite is the Indian cuisine with freshly made roti pratas served with different kinds of curry. The prawn is especially flavorful. There are some classic local fares, especially pleasing for a Singaporean living overseas. I got my share of Hainanese chicken rice, prawn noodles, satays, popiah, and nonya kuehs. And speaking of dessert, the pandan cake is moist and light, and paired superbly with a shot of espresso. A great way to end the meal. The service we get at StraitsKitchen is of the highest quality, bar none. The staff was very prompt at clearing our table as if we had a personal one assigned to us. The Assistant Manager Shahri was especially personable, bringing us fried bananas and durian fritters towards the end of our meal. And when he saw that our beverages are low, he offered to take our orders in person. The offering at StraitsKitchen has definitely left a good impression with our experienced elevated by friendly and efficient staff. We are sad to hear that the hotel (and as such the restaurant) will be closed between August and December in 2022 for renovations. This restaurant will definitely be on my go-to list of buffets on my yearly pilgrimage to Singapore.

Just had a buffet lunch at StraitsKitchen. The spread was good. There were many local dishes to choose from. Fresh Crabs and prawns were served too. Wonderful on the spot cooking by many chefs. Satay (chicken, mutton and beef) very nice and well charred. Unlimited serving of latte, cappuccino and etc. Fresh orange juices available. They changed cutlery numerous times for you. If you have full two hours and a big stomach to spare, you will definitely enjoy the buffet. They serve complimentary birthday cake too. Buffet for two will cost around SGD$146Nett.

Poor service. Malay lady with glasses at front desk was very rude. So-so food. Went for the lunch buffet. Standard local fare. Service was slow. Plates not cleared. They use a TONNE of msg in their food so be prepared for your throat to be parched afterwards. Variety very limited. Only prawns for seafood Better buffets elsewhere - RC colony. Mandarin orientals melt, pan pacs edge. For 62$ per pax its too expensive for the limited variety and mediocre standard of food. Only their indian food and some desserts were decent. Dont know whats up with all the good reviews. Thumbs down.

Great selection of high quality Asian food! As a repeat customer, I find this place consistent in the overall food, service and ambience. It is excellent for hosting families and guests. The pricing of the afternoon tea is quite affordable too, especially when comparing to the hotel buffet just across the street.

Had dinner & breakfast buffet. Time limit to 1.5hr . For dinner recommend: Prawns : as they are super fresh and relatively chunky. Kambing bakar: was really great too , smoked well and quite tender. Garlic & butter naan Chendol Durian mochi balls? Teh tarik was super! Laksa was alright , fishball noodle was bland. Satay need to wait especially for the mutton one due to demand. Briyani was underwhelming. For breakfast recommend: Eggs Bread spread Thosai & pancakes not worth your calories 😶

Thoroughly enjoyed ourselves at the dinner buffet. As someone who lives overseas, this place offers me a chance to eat lots of Singaporean dishes (all at once) in a comfortable environment. My parents loved it too as they do not eat much western food. The satay was super good, and so were the Indian dishes. If they also had oyster omelette it would have been perfect!

Their high tea is really 5-stars. The reason I gave 4 stars because the high tea is only 90 mins. With such a good spread and high quality high tea. 90 mins is not enough to really enjoy the food with friends and family. Their high tea spread is very worth it. The spread is as good as their lunch buffet. Food are all at high quality and their staffs are very fast in clearing the plates from your tables.

If you enjoy local food, Straits Kitchen buffet is something you’d enjoy. They have satay, chicken rice, popiah, rojak, biryani — all of your local delicacies but elevated. While I enjoyed the buffet, here are some food I didn’t quite enjoy: the otak-otak wasn’t the best. Muak. The assorted nyonya kuihs a bit too rich. The ondeh2 was quite thick.

Located on the ground floor (level 1) of the Grand Hyatt in Singapore and offering their signature breakfast, lunch and dinner buffets which showcase a wide array of Southeast Asian and Western/European offerings. I have only visited the breakfast buffets (see photos below) and love it for the broad selections that would satisfy any palette. I haven't tried the Western or continental breakfast offerings but can attest to the excellence of the local Southeast Asian offerings. The yong tau foo, dim sum, and Indian offerings are delicious and authentic. Post-covid, reservations are required for the breakfast buffet.

Went for high tea, checked out that the menu for high tea is the same as lunch/dinner. I remembered they used to serve some pomelo salad previously but sadly that does not exist no longer. Was seated at table 48, so they forgotten about our orders a few times, waited a long time for the naan and prata to arrive. Ordered prawn noodles that never came as well. We were seated right by the dessert stalls but dessert came 10 minutes to 5pm (5pm being end of high tea). Geez, felt neglected this time round perhaps not enough staff today? My family was also seated in the main area and they had no of the problems we experienced. Food was great though. Service when it came was good. I guess it’s better to sit in the main area.

Lovely service, and delicious. Usually hotel buffets serve mediocre and below average local dishes but at straits kitchen the taste of the local dishes was fantastic. The Indian cuisine was amazing. The tandoori, naan and gravies were delicious and absolutely flavourful. I loved the grilled smoky tandoori taste! The malay and Indonesian dishes were alright. Not bad. The satays and otah otah were juicy and delicious. Best eaten hot, of course. The desserts were ordinary and below average but that was completely made up for by the wide variety of free drinks served. Lattes, cappuccino, teas, milk teas, decaf, juices etc. I enjoyed myself very much and I will definitely visit again in the future.

While remaining one of the best hotel restaurants to sample Singapore’s world heritage cuisine, Straits Kitchen lost its vibrancy as a buffet restaurant with the outbreak of COVID. Ala-Carte buffet kills the joy of walking around in night market environment picking up your favourite dishes and tucking-in while food is piping hot. The aroma of burnt meat and the joy of seeing how your desert is prepared is missing. Now you order from a menu and you can’t see what you’re getting until it’s served. So only four stars for now, bring back the traditional buffet when permitted

Came to the Straits Kitchen for breakfast. Been to the Straits Kitchen for breakfast multiple times many years back. However, the current standard pales in comparison. Food was dished out by the server due to the COVID-19 pandemic. There seems to be a fewer selection of food available. Taste wise, the food didn’t taste as rich or well spiced compared to hawker fare. The western food, like the pancakes was a saving Grace. I was really looking forward to their Kopi tarik but it tasted like instant coffee.

Fantastic experience… Chef Ashok is young but has a deep understanding of Indian cuisine. The starters were tenders and succulent, mains was perfectly spiced and most importantly the desserts were not too sweets!!! Ashok deserves a dedicated space like Rang Mahal and the talented chef is up to something big in long term!!! Highly recommend to visit the kitchen table at W Sentosa and try the magical food.

Oh Straits Kitchen What Is There NOT TO Love About This Place… Can’t Recall A Time Went The Food & Service Has Not Met My Expectation. Be It Breakfast, Lunch Or Dinner.. The Food Is Always Fantastic & VERY FRESH

My parents opted for breakfast at Straits Kitchen whilst the rest of us had in-room dining. The restaurant’s reservation staff was very impatient and even attempted to end our conversation as quick as possible. Food was good but more work has to be done for the patience of your reservation staffs.

One of our favourites.. The tables for dine-ins and their placement were separated appropriately. It was also arranged to have the cutleries n serviette in a paper bag. Looks unique and definitely a safe way to implement placing the necessity items on d table. We had our lunch here at bout 12.30pm and managed to secure a slot d day before. This was done through a booking via an online portal, their website. Just need to google amd u can register immediatley. We had a great time tasting all d various food available on the different sections. In fact after having tasted almost all the choices, d best of it all is actually the coconut soft serve. Yes, there are lots more choices that can be raised but d soft serve takes our breathe away. Despite having tried almost everything there, it tops up everything else that had eaten. Nway its a great place to go for a date.. 😁 and definitely some place where we may decide to come again.. Prior to this visit, we came here before d pandemic and now, close to an endemic situation, the place looks d same, except that there are lesser people now due to the current situation😅. All in all, we definitely enjoyed ourselves thoroughly. Cheers!! #straitskitchen #singapore #grandhyatt #buffet #buffetlunch #lunchbuffet #vivo #v15pro #piquedwanderer

Went there for hotel breakfast. Service was quite good and there was a good spread. The food was pretty good except for the chef special of carrot cake which I found too lumpy and garlicky.
