Use the lift to locate this hidden gem at level 3 with great Tim Sum atmosphere! The food is typical of a traditional established Tim Sum restaurant served on table clothed settings with cushioned chairs. Do not expect too much from the service staff, who are mostly busy and distracted. One of them unexpectedly took away my half eaten stuffed crab, when I only paused from savoring it. So when you’re there be focused on the food and nothing else!

Old standing Chinese restaurant in the Grand stand area which we patronized for many donkey years (previous review got removed somehow). They had good dimsum options in the morning with reasonable price. Restaurant food is available from lunch to dinner. Private rooms and common tables are available. Per June 2023, the entire Grandstand complex will be demolished and they will relocate to Geylang. New location: L3 hotel Miramar. Same crews and taste. New place feels a little bit cramped and toilets are not exactly clean.

They just moved over from Turf City. Seems like nothing much have changed in terms of the services etc. maybe just the environment. The food taste good and never too salty. Some would say it’s blend but healthier. Prices here are reasonable and you can check on their weekly specials on their fresh seafood.

Did not know Ah Yat @ Grandstand was so big until I was hosted there for a lunch by afri friend. Like I'm stepping into a 70s era restaurant. Of course with live seafood the food is expected to be the best, so are the prices.

Fresh seafood and great service! You get to choose the seafood that you want, and the staff will help you to catch it. Service here is great, and the staff are all friendly. Even gave us two surprise dessert (as they found out we were celebrating a friend's birthday). We had the Alaskan King Crab, some prawns and mantou. You can request split style for the crab for just $10 more (ours was chilli crab and salted egg yolk, the prawns were cereal prawns). Overall, quite good, though the second batch of mantou wasn't as good as the first. Seafood mostly sold by the gram. Go in with a fuller wallet :P

I’m so glad they moved closer to the city. They have really good deals here especially for lunch on weekdays. They have a good variety of dim sum served here and the tastes are quite good as well. Additionally, we ordered fresh bamboo clams from the seafood tanks. They were cooked with glass noodles and garlic. I think the they were a bit smaller than what I had before but nevertheless, was tasty.

First time here at the Miramar outlet after they shifted from The Grandstand, where we frequented. Although slightly out of the way, glad to see that the service staff are still the same familiar ones. Food was nice, as always! NB: Parking at Miramar was free when we went on a Sunday.

An old establishment which can still dish out excellent seafood dishes. My second time here and would say i wasn't disappointed at all. The staff were courteous and very attentive. Ordered the live seafood and all came in beautifully. We also had the Bbq Peking Duck which was excellent. My favourite of the dishes was the Australian lobster and the Tiger Prawns. Steamed to perfection with the meat freshly succulent and flavoursome. Definitely a restaurant not to be missed when you are in Singapore. Hurry though coz we heard the government is reclaiming the club house and the restaurant might be relocated.

First time visiting this restaurant with colleagues after work on Friday for farewell dinner since they have 50% off promotion for live seafood. 5 of us and we ordered many seafood. 8 dishes and 2 desserts with a pot of tea cost around $676.xx (after 50% off) which the price is very reasonable and food is not bad. Service is good and waitress are attentive. Heard their dim sum is not bad too. Should give it a try. Seafood market location at level 2 , same level as Owen Seafood. Owen and Ah Yat seafood (level 3) both restaurants owned by same boss. Must go to find your favourite live seafood at level 2. One thing I would like to comment is the parking space is very confusing maybe the area is huge. Many exits locked due to COVID. You have to find the right exit or pass thru the shops in order to get out of the building.

Same old same old. Have been coming here for more than a decade. Food is still good. Service is still mediocre but prompt. Ambience is getting very very old. And prices is creeping up (likely due to inflation)

Good place to have a proper seafood dinner. Cannot complain about pricing, it's a know fact, it's expensive to eat crab in Singapore. At least the price is quite fixed. We were there, but the seafood selection was quite limited, maybe due to the festive season where most offices would be celebrating get together dinner and quite a few reunion dinners too. We could not complain about service as we were attended by 2 very attentive staff. Overall a nice dining experience for us, but surely can't do it too regularly

Great food with great service from the staff. Despite the heavy crowd on a Saturday dinner, their staffs would be going around checking on tables if there is anything needed.

One of fabulous seafood restaurant that I have been dinning for over the past 15 years, usually as a great occasion for birthday celebrations. They always have a live seafood corner located a level below their dinning hall, where there is a myriad of live seafood selection, from lobster to geoduck, grouper to crab, and finally their razor clams. Their razor clams are ultimately the most genuine in Singapore, premium quality, with a texture unlike the common breeds!

One of the nicest dim sum place hidden in Turf City. Dim sum with 30% discount and quite a variety. Traditional Chinese restaurant and suggested to book your table especially on festival. There is no different when you book and walk in 🤔. No question asked when the spring rolls are burnt and requested for replacement. Recommended dishes deep fried egg plant w/Garlic and scallop in yam paste.

The place is rather old and kind of hot, probably the air conditioners and the full house situation. Saw a notice that they are going to move to a new location in sept. Overall, the food is okie, but the service is above average as full house with a few staff to attend our requests.

Kitchen chefs have ZERO forks to presentation of their dishes. Especially the fish is so messed up as if it was cooked in a nuclear reactor. Pork ribs taste soured. Peking duck is cold. Roasted chicken is dry. Their E-fu noodles is the worst of all.

Having 30% off for dim sum at Ah Yat Seafood, the restaurant is quite full and limited time for dining. The buns, egg tarts and ma lai gao are quite good; siu mai, pork ribs & spring roll are also okay, only cheong fan is not nice. Overall environment is crowded, a bit noisy and too busy whereas food is average. Price is reasonable after discount.

A very nostalgic Chinese restaurant in Singapore. This is the Chinese restaurant that I will go to whenever the family is craving good Chinese cuisine. I have visited the restaurant many times in the past, be it lunches or dinners, it has never disappointed us. The restaurant offers fresh seafood and patrons can actually choose their catch at the water tanks located outside the restaurant and choose they want them to be cooked. Their cooking style is more Hong Kong and it’s a must-visit if this is what you are looking for. They have dim sum as well which I find them pretty good as well.

Was there for dinner. The servers are busy but attentive enough. I like the Peking duck is served with a egg based wrap instead of the usual dough wrap. We requested to be duck meat served as it is, and it’s still tasty and soft. The sweet and sour pork is tasty, tender and not tough like others. We will be go back again.

Not the best dim sum I have had but everything we ordered were pretty good. We did not make a reservation but thankfully it wasn't too crowded even on the weekend. There was a wide variety of items on the menu and we will definitely be back again to try the others! The only turn off was when one of the servers tried to stop us from ordering more. It was quite ridiculous because why would the customer not be able to order freely? Whether we finish the food or not it is our issue and since it was not a buffet, all the more there is no concern for that. There is also a takeaway option available isn't it?

Visited on 16 Feb 24 for dinner with family. This is not our first time to Ah Yat so we ordered the cny set with good expectations. Won't visit again. Will recommend to support tze char stalls who are serious abt serving good food and preserving quality. Abalone photo just for laughter's sake. Louhei tastes good nothing to complain. $540++ set for 6 pax. Not worth it. Fish overcooked (surprising for a seafood restaurant). Chicken balls were thick&fried flour slices. Fried noodles served at room temperature. I understand everyone is trying to make a living but if the kitchen is unable to cope with the crowd surge then it would be better to manage within means to preserve the reputation of the restaurant in a very challenging and competitive F&B scene. Staff were unhappy with the given feedback but we spoke cordially.

I was surprised that the place was so packed on a Saturday. It looked to be almost full house even in the private rooms. The food were good but the chilli crab sauce was kinda disappointing. The fish was really good. We had dinner set and add on. The servers were quick on their feet and super hardworking with a lot of teamwork.

Almost exactly the same as turf city, many staff the same, food taste the same, price similar. Only difference is need to pay carpark (slightly expensive) and main dining hall is enclosed with no natural lighting.

Ordered the chilli crab, one of the best in Singapore in my opinion. The staff were super attentive even though it was a busy Saturday night. Great food and service overall.

Food is pretty nice, especially considering the price (with the 30% off for dim sum during weekday lunch). However, must highlight that the service is pretty terrible. After serving all the dishes, they pretty much de-prioritise service to your table. When we asked for a hot water topup for our Chinese tea, multiple waitresses ignored us, or merely stated that they will get back to us, only to conveniently forget after. We ended up waiting for 10min to no avail before we went to top it up ourselves. When we gave this feedback while paying the cashier, they did not show any ounce of remorse and only stated ‘oh’. Will not be returning till they sort out their staff’s conduct

Love this place as we get to choose our own seafood at the Unique Seafood Market which is just outside the restaurant. Lobster, fresh abalone, oysters, fish, clams, crabs, etc. The usual choices are available and most of them are at 50% off. The oysters are quite plump and the fish is tender and smooth. Other dishes are quite tasty too but the mee sua (面线) that we ordered were quite a disappointment after the dishes that we tried. The mee sua felt like "cardboard" which was quite disappointing but the other dishes are good. If you are intending to order noodles, you might want to consider their ee foo noodles (伊面) instead. If you are looking for fresh seafood, this might be a place worth considering.

Worst restaurant ever, came in 9th April 2022. Made a reservation. Informed of our set menu order in advance, not sure if they had taken down our order. 1. Dishes were served late, after approximately 30 to 40min wait, the 1st dish was served and it was not in order. Their reply, just eat what was served first. 2. 2nd dish served after another close to 30min or even longer. 3. Suddenly they told me that they did not have the peking duck and wanted to replace it with roasted duck. 4. They kept asking us if some other dishes were served, like trying hoping that we miraculous ate the food without it being served. 5. The waitresses were all in a bad mood. Like we offended them by coming here to eat at the restaurant. 6. Waitresses came over to informed us that the chefs are closing the kitchen, wow, even before finish serving all th food to us. Overall, they are like trying to chase us off.

Nice restaurant at te old Turf Club. They serve dim sum n a la card menu for lunch. For dinner they serve set menu as well as a la card menu. We recently tried te set menu for 10 persons, qt nice, reasonably priced; even provide a private room wif a karaoke set. The only thg is that te carpet smells vy funny like little of sourish esp te corridor. Te place provide shuttle buses to Mrt stns at Toh Payoh n Botanical Garden for those who dont drive.

Dim sum is quite good, but the prices are a bit higher compared to the past as the discount previously was 50% but now is only 30%. As an indication, lunch for 3 adults and 2 primary school kids came up to about $100. As for location, it is good for drivers as parking space is plentiful but can be inconvenient for others.

Taste never change for dim sum, still good as always. Their mini egg-tart, all time favourite for my self and kids. ☺️ Tried their 赛螃蟹 here but still prefer the chef from Prima Tower Revolving previously 😅 📌This outlet will be relocating in Mid Sept 2023 to Hotel Miramar @ Havelock Road.

Fresh seafood!! Get a table number inside, and you can go out to the front to pick your own live seafood! (Available for dine-in and takeaway) After choosing the seafood, the attendants will weigh and print a receipt. You may then go back to your table & inform the friendly servers how you wish the seafood to be cooked 😊 I like that the pricing is totally transparent as you will know the amount right after choosing the seafood! And it is such an experience to see & choose all the live seafood, truly fresh from market to table 😌 We got live prawns (poached), bamboo clams (garlic w/ vermicelli) & mud crab (salted egg). My fav was the bamboo clams! Soooo big & fresh, the meat was really tender & springy + unbelievably fragrant with all the garlic & provided sauce!! I ate half a bowl of rice with 1 clam alone, and I'm not even a garlic fan XD The prawns were not bad, somehow I expected it to be fresher & sweeter since they're live prawns, but some prawns tasted a little older?? 🥴 Very strange since I literally saw the prawns was indeed live just moments ago lol. Mud crab was kinda small but quality was okay. The salted egg sauce was extremely thick, which got jelat easily. It also didn't complement the crab flesh well :/ I prefer the kind of sauce which is more creamy & liquidy, so I was slightly disappointed by this. But that's just personal preference, I felt I made a mistake choosing this flavor! (tho im a huge salted egg fan haha) Probs will try another flavor next time! I'll go back again when I'm craving live seafood! They have a half price promo so it's pretty worth! 🤙🏻

If you keen to have a nostalgic and old Cantonese style of dining, highly recommended. You won’t be impressed on the way to the restaurant as you taking elevators and thru’ the narrowed corridor before you reach its door. However surprisingly the food is authentic Cantonese and delicious. Will take my parents there one day.

This is probably what going back in time feels like. With the decorations, the lack of upkeep, the crowd that visits, and the entire experience overall, I honestly felt like I was transported back to the 80s. Their seafood, Alaskan king crabs, and Peking duck are good. We had a little bit of everything, and the bill was about 600+ for the 9 of us. Don't get their desserts though, whether it's the mango sago nata de coco, or the almond paste; they feel very instant-mixed. Despite the food being fresh and relatively more reasonably priced (compared to other seafood houses in Singapore), I really struggle to want to return again, simply because of the lack of ambience and the general unease with the overall environment, from carpark to the restaurant. If you don't mind the tough-life travel into turf city, plus the weird vibes all around, and the slight lack of service in the restaurant; this place could be a sufficiently okay pick, just for food. Shut your eyes to everything else. I met an uncle in the toilet who had a little too much to drink, and was puking everywhere; not the fault of the restaurant, but just a proxy for the kind of crowds that patronize here.

  • 5/5 Fiona R. 2 years ago on Google
Despite its rather “nostalgic” environment and lack of service, I still give 5 stars for the great execution, succulent and fresh seafood which is good value for money. Jumbo oyster steamed with garlic is fantastic, plump and juicy. My favorite. Australian lobster baked with cheese surprised us as well. The cheese they used is not only cheese but mixed with maybe starch or potato that tasted lighter with extra layer of flavor. Apart from seafood, the vegetables, noodles and pork dish were excellent. Even the presentation of dish doesn’t look good at all.

Seafood is from the tank - so it’s as fresh as it gets 👍🏻 the geoduck sashimi fresh from the tank is very reasonable because it’s on some kind of discount 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 i enjoy it with my own dipping sauce of black vinegar, chilli padi and chopped raw garlic. Do book in advance for weekends as they can get really crowded as it’s really good value for money with live seafood and we were here for dim sum. We came early at 11.15am and service was faster, if you come during the peak hour - only inevitable to get shortfall in service . We like how they improvise a “show kitchen” (check out the videos) where some of the usual dim sum dishes are now cooked ala minute for you. Visited on Oct 2, 2022

Raw seafood material can be picked at the unique seafood staff just in front of this restaurant and Ah Yat can cook in the ways you like. The seafood is very fresh and good for steam. For crab, definitely should try white-papper, or chilli the traditional style in Singapore Currently during CNY, this restaurant is usually full house on weekend and Friday night, better to book the table before going there. The tables are put quite close to one another... Not a good place to have the deep chats...

Went on Mother's day. Understand that the restaurant is busy. Called 2 weeks in advance to make reservations and requested on peking duck. Staff said confirm will have so no need to make reservations. On Mother day, staff said too busy can't order peking duck. Wanted to order asam fish. Staff said today only have steam fish option. Went in around 6.15pm. 8pm dishes still not serve. Checked with staff, then only serve 1st dish. Then 9pm 2nd dishes still not serve. Staff said if cant wait then cancel and pay. So end up Mother's day only had 1 dishes. Horrible experience
