I was very unsure about going here after I heard that the management changed. But after I noticed some reno had been done, I decided to give it a try. No regrets. Lunchtime you only get rice and dishes. They place the banana leaf tray infront of you, with vegetables. A man comes around carrying different side dishes on a tray for you to choose from. We chose squid, chicken, fish. The fried chicken with onions was something different and nice. Fish and squid were ok. My only concern was the hand washing area which was congested all the time and looked a bit dirty. Value for money.

Really good food! Reasonable prices too! We had Prata and rice and lots of dishes! Especially enjoyed the chicken with onions which was an interesting dish! The other dishes were very good too - mutton, fish, curry. Surprised that the Prata was also really good!

Good banana leaf experience, I had the mutton masala which was great, it was very tender and the sauce had good flavour and very spicy. Also had the fried fish which was nice but a little dry from being overcooked. Byriani rice and sides were good too.

Nice place to have Indian food. If you order rice, the side dishes and curries come for free. Water is available for free. Could have been 5 stars if not for the higher price of the meal. I paid $20+ for 2 meats and 1 soft drink.

Budget friendly place but food didn't taste great. We went here to grab food after watching Mark Weins video and we were totally disappointed with the taste. We got muttai kottu parotta, chicken gravy, mutton gravy and a prawn pattani gravy, and also a slice of fish fry. Of all this, I would recommend only fish fry and the mutton, the rest were all a big let down, especially the prawn pattani gravy.

Have not been to Gandhi for more than 1.5 years and decided to give it a crack today. The food was excellent especially the mutton curry. Service was also prompt and efficient. Will definitely be back again to try their other dishes.

If you're looking for banana leaf rice you can come here to try. One of the best Indian food I've ever tasted. Price was very good. Portion was very huge also. You will be able to choose vegetable or fish curry. You need to try both of them. I would come again if I'm craving for good indian food. Do avoid during peak hours!

A very affordable & local restaurant for Indian food. Came here with two friends and ordered a LOT of food (sadly we weren’t able to finish). I really enjoyed the veg biryani set and thosai. The egg prata and quail eggs were okay, but likely not something I would go for again. I didn’t like the tofu sambal (too sour) and we barely even picked at the fish. I also got a mango lassi, which was yummy and refreshing. My two friends had upset stomachs the day after, but I’m convinced my stomach is made of steel and hence I was ok.

Damn awesome south indian food. Hearty portions for when I am feeling really hungry. Had a mango lassi as well and it was thick, fragrant and really delicious. Ordered mutton and fish. Not as cheap as before but ok lah nicely renovated and food quality got even better. Will come for my indian food fix !

You don't need a silver fork to eat good food especially Indian food. Because that's why there is Gandhi's. As a long time treasure of Little India, they have recently refurbished their outlet with a new look. The concept is a little unique where you don't find in other Indian food places. The waiter brings to your table an assortment of dishes from which you can choose to add to your meal. The waiter sometimes doesn't bring them all so if there is something you crave for, they may very well have it behind the counter. To conclude, go to Gandhi's if you want affordable, tasty Indian food!

Good restaurants for workers. Generous portions. Good gravy for rice. You can ask for extra gravy. There are vegetarian options, fish, chicken, mutton. The lassi pretty good as well. There is parking nearby. Just careful don’t park in the hotel complex which is much more convenient expensive. They do have fork and spoon. They are plastic though. Metal cutlery is better. However, since they already have banana leaf for plate cover, some wooden spoon would be more fitting? The hand washing area is not as clean as it should be.

During my short visit to Singapore I was happy to see a good South Indian restaurant. We tried a full non veg meals with prawn and chicken gravy. Meals were unlimited . Taste was good and happy to have food at this restaurant. Person at bill counter was happy to welcome us.

Simple, comfort food with so many veg and non-veg options! We love their Chicken Masala, Chicken Curry and Mutton Curry. Tried their fish fry once - it was a little dry! But, this place is perfect for a late brunch on Sunday! You can forget eating for the rest of the day! For a true comfort food experience and feel free to use your hands. πŸ€—

Horrible food. No flavours. No taste. Large flies flying around. Had to wait 10 mins just for gravy. Not sure what they revamped.

For an interesting experience of delicious and authentic Indian food, I highly recommend this place. The hygiene might not be perfect, but the owner and the workers are very friendly and welcoming. The owner even accompanied me to choose my ice-cream from the counter, even if he was busy. I tried the chicken masala and byriani rice, plus the veggie combination. I liked a lot all of it.

It was a pleasure. Ordered take-away for lunch and received it in no-time. The lady at the cashier was a pleasant and friendly person. The chap who handed over the packed food was polite and friendly. A great place that serves quality food that does not compromise on quantity despite the affordable prices. God bless.

Tried their fried onion chicken as recommended by another reviewer - yes it’s a MUST ORDER! Also had chicken 65, curry mutton & prawn curry. Generous portions :-) Their star dishes were the fried onion chicken & the shrimp curry w/ peas. Cabbage was weaker than at Samy’s but those 2 meat dishes stood out. Paid $32.50 for 2 pax.

I am a tourist from Taiwan. This is my first time in Singapore and my first time eating Indian food. The clerk here was very friendly and offered me a spoon and fork. I don't know much about the taste of Indian food, but I enjoyed a very comfortable meal here. The mango juice is delicious and the chicken is very fragrant.

Very authentic, menu is a bit confusing and the servers had a hard time explaining. We got the chicken set which comes with the white rice and a dish of chicken (these are pre-prepared and were not that warm) then someone comes around with tubs of curry sauce to spoon in your plate. Also ordered the chicken briyani, comes as whole chunks of chicken on the bone in the briyani. Was a very generous amount of food for the price.

An Indian restaurant for the novelty. Generally better biryani or meals than the stalls in hawkers/ foodcourt. Masala chicken/ mutton was nice and portion is filling. Fried food like chicken 39 was cold when served. Fish/ or chicken curry is quite spicy. Dal curry is hot and nice during lunch time. Assam is peppery, siok. I frequent this restaurant. Each time seems to be worst than another. Most 5 stars are probably tourist visit or first/ one-timer. Looking at all the lowest rating, the sentiments are aligned that the service is bad. One of my favorite thing is that the Veggies and curries are free flow. I love Dal curry. Perhaps it was just a miscommunication but when I requested to have more of one particular veggies of the day, they don't seem interest to serve (for 1 instance). For some reason my veggie and rice portion seem a bit smaller than usual too on the last time I visited (see photos). I came around 8.30pm, a time that it was not so busy, however the service staff around the dining area is not so attentive and not service-oriented at all. It feels like I owed to them by dining here/ it is a struggle to serve. Maybe the service staff are tired after the whole day. A suggestion is to make the veggie and the curries to be self serve, it allows the individual to choose the type of veggie and control the portion so as to not waste food (not everyone wants to eat all types of veggies).

Visited this place today for lunch. This restaurant serves South Indian food ; vegetarian and non-vegetarian. Both types of meals are very tasty with adequate portions. The meals are not over spiced with chilli ; great authentic home cooked flavours come through. The staff are very helpful and polite. I visit Gandhi restaurant every time I make a trip to Singapore. This restaurant never disappoints. Highly recommended!

One of the more famous Indian restaurants. Default serving of rice and some vegetables, free flow curry. Friendly serving staff will bring around additional dishes.

Tried the food after the renovation, food was okay. But was a little pricey but still affordable. Ginger chicken masala and mutton masala and sweet lassi is a must try πŸ‘πŸ½

Had the standard meal, with mutton masala and minced fish/shark fry (suraa puttu). Taste was average. Sambar lacked salt and ingredients as compared to other shops along the same stretch of road. Service could be better. Only one person serving side dishes, so I had my rice served first, and abt nearly 10 minutes before the server came with the main dishes of mutton and fish. Observed that service for foreigners was faster. A couple of Caucasians 'ang mohs' who were seated after me were served faster and were attended to more frequently. Servers who saw me looking around to order drinks and dishes just looked away. Service seems to have drifted towards tourism than how it was few years ago when it was about genuine Indian food.
