👍 An eye opening experience for foreigners. Me as a local learnt a lot as well. Love the batik painting session the most and we are allowed to bring home our own painted batik fabric and handmade soap. Our tour guide, Aileen is very friendly and patient in explaining. Had fun tossing roti canai and te... People often mention experience, culture, good, time, batik, friendly, great, learn,

Interesting place to learn about the Malay culture. It's a bit of a tourist trap, but the painting and roti making were rather interesting. If you have never been to Malaysia and don't know anything about the culture it would be fun. If you've been to Mari Mari Cultural Village it will be a let down.

An eye opening experience for foreigners. Me as a local learnt a lot as well. Love the batik painting session the most and we are allowed to bring home our own painted batik fabric and handmade soap. Our tour guide, Aileen is very friendly and patient in explaining. Had fun tossing roti canai and teh tarik session too. Performance are good with great sound and lighting effect. Advice to bring mosquito repellent and fan along. Much mosquito attack during outdoor session. Quite dissapointed for the roti canai and teh tarik session as there is only few dough prepared for us, not everyone gets to experience it. Wayang kulit is boring. Only display of the puppet was shown without any show or storyline. Handmade soap session was also dull, not much ingredients and information received. Overall is a good experience and highly recommended for foreigners and school children to learn more about Malaysia culture :)

I went there on a Sunday at 2:00pm, but it didn't seem to be empty. Maybe it's out of business?

It's a cosy place and not too crowded. Tour guides are able to give you personal attention. They are knowledgeable and friendly. You'll have a hand at making batik prints, soap from crude palm oil and you will also learn the tricks of preparing 'roti canai' and 'teh tarik', Malaysi's ever famous breakfast! It was an enjoyable experience even for a Malaysian like me.

Only group reservations are available, but you can join us at the time of reservation, so you can make a reservation if you can change your schedule. It's a good place to enjoy half a day, such as dyeing your hair or watching traditional dances. Mosquito repellent required.

The Malay Cultural Village Sdn Bhd is a wonderful place to experience the rich cultural heritage of Malaysia's Malay community. The village features traditional houses and structures, with live demonstrations of various crafts such as batik printing and weaving. Visitors can also enjoy cultural performances, including music, dance, and martial arts. Overall, it's a great opportunity to learn about the history and traditions of the Malay people in a fun and interactive way.

It's a place worth traveling to by Grab while staying in Johor Bahru. Reservations made on the website are not confirmed, so you must contact us via WhatsApp to make a reservation. It was a little disappointing that we were organized into a large tour group because it was the weekend, but I think it was inevitable since there was a lot of demand on the weekend. The dyeing experience was fun, and I had a great weekend seeing a variety of Malay culture. If anyone is visiting Johor Bahru, I would recommend them to take the time to visit. The total tour time took about 2-3 hours, and it was easy to get a Grab on the way back.
