2021: Very tasty Indian vegetarian food at affordable prices. The 'chicken' kurma gravy was creamy and delicious, the 'mutton' fried rice tasted rather 'meaty', and the murtabak was crispy. Even my meat-loving friend loved the food. Will certainly return. May 2022: Service still excellent - staff are very friendly and handled a very unreasonable customer professionally. Free water served. Dum biriyani and fried carrot cake were tasty. Prices have increased since last year but it's understandable given the inflation and merchant fees. Cashless payment only. For those who cannot tolerate spicy food, do tell the staff "Non-spicy" for all dishes, because even dishes that are labelled as Non-spicy may have some chilli added to it for flavour.

Good variety on the menu but I do find it moderately highly priced. Service was typical yet they really do have interesting things on the menu with Chinese and muslim influence. It has its own character but I do very much prefer pure Indian cuisine. It’s nice for the occasional change. Location was good, walking distance to the Little India train station and restaurant is clean and cool with air conditioning.

Price: $6.54 (Plain Thosai) Plain Thosai: 5/5 Thosai was very crispy, savoury and slightly sour. Sambar: 5/5 Sambar was flavourful, savoury, hearty and had a good lentil taste. Chutney: 5/5 Orange chutney was tangy, sweet and spicy. White chutney was coconuty and spicy. Total score: 15/15 Add-ons: Masala Tea ($4.16) was fragrant from the spices used and warm and comforting to drink. There was a little waiting time but it was definitely worth the wait as the plain thosai was very delicious. From the thosai to the sambar and the two different chutney. Service team were really responsive to requests and new orders. The place was brightly lit and a cozy place to have your Indian vegetarian classic as well as your familiar Singaporean dishes with a vegetarian twist.

Came during weekday lunch, not crowded which is great and nice internal with aircon! The masala tea, raba, cheese tofu is super nice!

One of the few fully allium-free Indian vegetarian eateries in Singapore. The menu is eggless and vegan-friendly; but it is best to confirm with the staff verbally when ordering! (E.g. Heard that dairy cream might be drizzled on top of the butter chicken if you do not explicitly say you want a vegan version.) My favourites are the dum briyani, butter chicken, and paper masala dosa. They also have good local favourites such as chicken rice and dry laksa. They have recently launched vegan hotpots too. Hope the drinks can have a plant mylk option!

Very good and tasty food. This was my first time here. Satisfied with the food. However, the service standards could be better, Actually it's nowhere near good.. Food was served with their left hands (the staff is not left handed) and not all of them were wearing masks properly. Some of them wearing their masks on their chin with their mouth exposed. Some of them wearing their masks on one ear, while the other side of the mask dangling. Cleanliness is also a concern as two of the staff were wiping the cups with their hands and using food lids to fan their fellow colleague. I dont see the point of CCTV when staff are NOT adhering to the Safe Management Measures. The drinking water was unclean and it wont be a surprise if this becomes another cluster. Even the seats were wet and dirty. Gokul, you can do better than this. Came with high expectations but Really disappointing. They have so many safety measures advisories pinned at their entrance but what's the point?

This place came highly recommended by my Indian vegetarian friend. True enough, every dish Is done perfectly well. The mock meat mutton tastes almost like real meat, and the curry with it is just right in terms of the mix of spices. All the bread was piping hot and thin. The bryanni rice’s fragrance just opens up the appetite. I was told that their “chicken” is a hot favourite and I saw many tables ordered it. Will come back again.

Surprisingly one of the most under-rated restaurant in Singapore with good chefs that are really good in cooking Chinese, Malay and Indian Cuisines! Though their menu looks like ‘Rojak’ with all sorts of local cuisines, but trust me as they are all just too sumptuous to miss! They used to have a branch at Fortune Centre (with equally good culinary skill from their Chefs there) but had since been closed down. Probably one of the things that they could improve to reach out to many more people is their Marketing. Their branch at Upper Pickering don’t even have an obvious ‘Gokul -Rass’ Sign Board informing patrons on their whereabouts while by looking in from outside, it is tough to tell if there is a restaurant in it!! Anyway, do give them a chance as their Chef’s culinary skill are really great.

That carrot cake is a must try - super well balanced and they used tofu to replace the texture of eggs.

Best vegan food and best hospitality - absolutely worth a visit. Wonderful staff, delicious food and obviously very happy customers. Great prices also. Highlights were chicken Tika and the Prati/roti canai set. Thank u so much team we really appreciate it.

Last year, I was full of praises for this place. Today I had to eat my words. The same chicken rice which I enjoyed previously was not up to the mark today. Quantity became lesser, there was an item on the plate that did not match the rice. Too much vegetables at the side. The Spicy mock chicken fried rice was inedible. For spicy dishes, the chili has to really goreng with the rice but this was wet and just tasted wrong. Too much taugeh too, in the fried rice. Madras coffee was the only good item I enjoyed this time. The Masala tea tasted diluted and not worth the $3.21. Felt cheated and upset that quality is not there. Not sure if I would give another chance to Gokul so I can take back this review.

The name of the restaurant is rather indiscreet so you'll need to look for the number of the place. Service is alright. Cleanliness of restaurant is acceptable. There's a queue during lunch time. This is our first time here. We got a table. We don't have to wait for too long for our food to arrive. Water is served free as with most Indian vegetarian restaurants. The vegetarian mutton soup is full of flavours and it's quite a thick broth. It's served with two miserable tiny pieces of baguette. The masala dosai is quite alright except that it's cooked with ghee. So definitely not suitable for vegans or those on plant-based diet. The carrot cake was alright, not exceptional. Still prefer the usual Chinese version. Frankly, this would not be a first nor second or third choice of vegetarian food for me. There are a lot more better options around little India that's worth repeated visits.

Such a noisy place if you're sat near the kitchen. And that's saying something given that most of the Indian restaurants in Little India feature the clatter if dishes and pots as they're so busy. The food quality was mixed and rather over priced for what is was with the extra taxes lumped on top. We tried vegan versions of 2 local noodle dishes and portion size was just acceptable. Perhaps they try to cover to broad a range? Plenty of Indians ordering Indian food so perhaps we'd give it one more try though the 23 spices chai was truly awful. The dessert of Gula Melaka semolina with coconut was very nice though.

Easily one of the best Indian restaurants to bring our unadventurous Chinese friends who wish to try Indian food! Just order Gobi Manchuria, this cauliflower dish coated and fried with sweet and sour batter, and I’m quite sure this will impress them. My Indian friends actually told me this dish is their “Chinese” food, much like the Japanese fried rice is the Chinese food in Japan, localized and adapted into the Indian tastebud. Another dish to try is Malai Kofta, which I believe is their other signature dish. Served with gravy made from cashew nuts, it taste like heaven! Good to go with Naan or chapati or some carbs. Tried the fried rice before too and they were equally tasty.

One of my best vegetarian Nyona Laksa in recent times. However, their restaurant is either short handed or overwhelmed with online orders. What good is it when a customer lines up, who's for his turn to order to be told that sorry the online orders are too much and we can't serve the dish that you want?

2021: Had the following dishes: Mock Chicken kurma, Murtabak, Char Kway Teow as well as Mango Lassi. Kurma and Murtabak tasted quite nice. Char Kway Teow has some heat to it, reminded me of what I ate in Penang. Lassi had a stronger taste of mango rather than yogurt, which I preferred May 2022: Had fried carrot cake and vegetable fried rice. Fried carrot cake tasted great! One of the best I had ever tasted with beancurd to replace the egg. It's just so difficult to find a vegetarian version. The fried rice tasted a lot better than it looks. Water was still being served in a jar with cups. Note that only cashless payments are accepted now and GST seems to be included in menu price. Impt: Please request for no spicy upon ordering if spice tolerance is low even if the dish is not labelled as spicy (example: fried carrot cake) in the menu as a lot of dishes have some degree of spice in them.

The best Indian vegetarian cuisine I had. Hyderabad Dum Biryani taste exactly like the mutton ones when eaten with the gravy. The vegetarian mutton soup is a rare find in Singapore. No presence of onion or garlic tasted is another plus point for me. A value for money restaurant based on taste to price ratio!!!

One of the best kept vegetarian dining secrets in Singapore! Gokul - Raas has an extensive menu covering North and South Indian dishes as well as local favourites. Their vegetarian char kway tiao (fried rice noodles) is probably the best in Singapore and as close to an authentic hawker char kway tiao as you could expect. Classic Indian dishes like palak paneer and mock chicken tikka masala are flavourful and delicious. My favourite is the ‘ayam’ masak merah which has a fantastic layered gravy and a very meaty mock meat. The restaurant itself is spacious and offers aircon dining and there is rarely a queue. Service does not take long and there are plenty of crunchy papadum ($1 for 5) to munch on while you wait.

The first time I went there, I had the vegetable briyani, Gobi 65, Aloo Gobi and mango lassi. The food was good and the lassi was awesome, don’t fade the lassi. The second time that I went there, I had the fried carrot cake, murtabak and Gobi Manchurian and I’ll say to skip the Gobi Manchurian as the cauliflower was almost non-existent and I was just eating a lot of batter. The fried carrot cake is decent for an vegan take as it is not commonly available and the murtabak is alright but can be skipped.

I enjoy going to Gokul Raas which serve vegan, no allium food to get that unique taste of local Singapore food fusioned with Indian spices. The restaurant also serves regular Indian food (paneer, thali, dosa/thosai, etc). My favourite is Nasi Goreng Kampung (literary translated to village fried rice). It is a spicy dish because of their signature chilli and has bits of dried mushroom stalks (the Chinese spin). I don’t recommend this dish for those who dislike the smell of belachan (dried shrimp) because it has similar aroma. The other dish pictured is their Masala Dosa. Simple place in Little India, nothing fancy. But it has local feel and homemade taste. If this is your cup of tea, I recommend this place.

Perfect if you visit with friends/family as you can order various things from the menu and share them together. Our favorites are the biryani and butter naan. Read many reviews saying that the carrot cake is a must try but it didn’t really suit our palettes. The samosas are tasty but not very special. The lychee drink is refreshing, really helps after a long walk exploring the city. Would definitely visit again on our next trip to SG.

Simple vegetarian restaurant serving nice choices of foods at reasonable prices. We only had two dishes because we are in a hurry but both were nice. The restaurant may look like crowded but it can accommodate many guests and there is no need for reservations. We will definitely comeback here if give a chance.

High quality food, i tried the special menu only for Malay Raya holiday, delish! By looking at the food presentation i know is gonna be delicious, yes it's so good! So i decided to add order for murtabak. I also tried their chicken rice in fortune centre branch, very nice! I highly recommended you make reservation, as weekend lunch is full house with 3-4 groups of people queuing outside for tables. And they too busy with non-stop huge delivery order where about 40-50 packs lunch on table.

  • 5/5 Alwyn A. 3 years ago on Google
Probably the best place to try plant-based versions of many local dishes under one roof. Flavour and spice levels are consistently robust, and I especially like the mee siam, lontong, bee hoon goreng, laksa goreng, wanton mee, Hokkien mee, Chinese rojak, Indian rojak, sambar rice, masala thosai, poori, and bhattura. The plant-based meat dishes are also quite convincing (not to mention delicious) and may leave one wondering why eating animals is still a thing. However, they have recently increased the price due to the new service charge - and as other reviews have noted, the service does not necessarily reflect this. More importantly to ovo-vegetarian or vegan customers, the menu labelling is misleading - the dishes labelled "V" on the menu (presumably to indicate "vegan") are not necessarily prepared vegan by default and may contain dairy products such as ghee, cream, or yoghurt, and so customers who avoid dairy will need to specifically request for their dishes to be made vegan when ordering.

Today I called Gokul for delivery and their Operations Manager, ASHWIN shouted at me and called me rude at least a dozen times. He also kept interupting when I spoke and was extremely rude himself. He does not seem to understand customer service. All I wanted to tell them was that when they take an order they should inform the customer on the phone how much the delivery charges are. This person started shouting and said that I (the customer!!!) was rude. He said that repeatedly. ASHWIN's behaviour was absolutely OBNOXIOUS. Because of his bad behaviour, I cancelled the order resulting in Gokul loosing money. For all the people that read this, please think if you want to eat food where there are rude people. I will NEVER buy from Gokul ever again. There are so many good choices available in Singapore. Please also be careful when you order from Gokul for delivery. They charge very high delivery charges - the cost is more than taking a GRAB. I will also be posting details in other social media websites because I think that Gokul needs to take the necessary corrective actions.

Ordered home delivery with Gokul, mee goreng and paid full amount. What I received was very disappointing. We made a request for spicy mee goreng but got a bland version and Battura was packed badly. Gokul's standards have dropped so badly. So upset and angry. When called they said next time they will get it right. Sigh. So we have to suffer through this meal sadly.

I was first brought here by a friend. Like many other non-vegetarians, I made the mistake of forgetting that my friend was a vegetarian. I tend to have a bias that vegetarian food would simply be just "not as tasty" as regular food, since you're using a subset of all ingredients available to human-kind. Not this place - I never realised that this place was a vegetarian restaurant until way after I left the restaurant, and recalled that my friend was a vegetarian. Not a vegetarian? Give this place a go anyway.

One of the best Indian vegetarian restaurants in Singapore. Go for the genuine vegetarian and not the mock meat.

My family and I have patronized Gokul's for their consistently tasty and authentic south indian vegetarian food for years now. It was therefore an easy decision to engage Gokul's catering for my bangle ceremony that took place on the 15th of Jan 2021. Due to some oversight on our part we had misnformed Gokul that the ceremony was to be held on the 16th of Jan and only realised our mistake on the evening of 15th Jan, minutes before guests were to arrive. We immediately called the restaurant, informed them of our error and enquired whether they could cater food for 30 pax that same night, even if they were understandably unable to provide the items that we had ordered. We are not certain how they managed to do this but they delivered our initial order within an hour of the phone call. My family and I are immensely grateful to Gokul's for alleviating our anxiety and heartened by the immediate action they took to rectify the error. Thank you!

Lots of vegetarian options available with vegetarian version of local dishes like Nasi Lemak. Ordered the butter chicken and Palak Paneer. The butter chicken gravy is nice! Palak Paneer was okay. Will be back to try the other dishes.

Price on the high side, but the food quality amazed me. My first time exploring a Indian veg restaurant and the Laksa Goreng and Paper Dosa are damn solid. Ordered Mutabak too and the curry are amazing. Take note their food is without garlic and onion. Suitable for Chinese Veg.

Food delivery riders please avoid picking up from this restaurant with irresponsible staff that makes you wait 30 minutes to tell you to cancel the order and go

Very generous servings and wide variety of Indian and other local cuisines. The chicken tikka was flavorful and satisfying. Char kway teow was sinfully good. We also tried the nasi ambeng, which was the weekend special. It was really good but very spicy, so you might want to take note of this if you’re not very tolerant to spice. Overall, I would strongly recommend this place. I couldn’t even tell it was vegetarian lol.

Variaties of India foods , including the Asian, Thai, Malaysia food. Taste good but a bit pricier comparing with the old location at Fortune Centre

The food was good but I was expecting something a bit different, more tasty. However as a vegan restaurant, we tried the mock chicken ... Exceptional, the taste, the look, the resemblance with real chicken is amazing. Note positive as well for the service, nice people. Try, a good place

Been twice in two weeks. So good. Around 40sg for 2 ppl, 2 mains, rice, curry puff, poppadoms and 2 bread and drinks. Came to try butter chick-un and korma. Also tried mock mutton dum biriyani. All vegan. Some dishes contain milk, vegan dishes are marked but they also can make many unmarked dishes vegan.

Not an authentic Indian restaurant, very inspired by local, Malay, and Chinese cuisines..locals like it. I am not very fond because I like authentic Indian food. Those who like to experiment may like it. Owner is nice.

Used to be our fav dining spot. Went today and literally everything on menu has gone up $0.5 -$1 Even papadum is being charged $1 (huge turn off) Didn't even get served the plain water which was free last time. Seems like they are more interested to make money than serve or maintain loyal customers.

Was a little skeptical because we came here for Indian food but saw Chinese Rojak and Fried Carrot Cake on the menu. We ordered Paneer Pakoras, Mushroom Kurma, Aloo Gobi and Daal Tadka, and they all turned out great! We were all happy campers at the end of the meal.

Good amount of options and good for local vegetarian food however service is poor. There were limited number of staff and takes long to place order and for food to arrive. Place is not well maintained and is very warm inside the restaurant. I ordered roti jala and came with only 2 gravies instead of stated 3 in menu. Appreciate the quality of food but service and atmosphere can improve.

I had high expectations for it due to Singapore No. 1 eater Zermatt Neo had a review not long ago. It was not really up to my expectations. However the mock meat was okay. But the service was a little on the down side. Went in no one served us and we asked and took the Menu ourselves and they still charged the services charge.

    Favourite place to dine at during fasting month.. but this time I would say that the food taste dropped alot. Gobi manchurian was dry and the crust was hard. It was obvious that it was fried n left outside for long before adding it with the sauce.. the fried rice was extremely spicy.. not sure why it was bad this time.. service was rather slow despite having only 3 tables dinning.... little disappointed);

The location is not too far from MRT exit E. The foods and staff are both nice. I recommended the laksa hotpot, the soup base is great and rice.

A true hidden gem. A friend brought me to this vegetarian restaurant to try out their Indian cuisine. To my surprise the dishes were packed with flavour and the meat (vegetarian) dishes tasted like real meat! The dosai was crispy and cooked perfectly! Butter chicken and lamb soup tasted like the real thing. Will come back to try other dishes.

Pretty good value for money. The korma was excellent. And the vegetables were very fresh. We’ll be back for the curries and might sway more for them than the stir fry

Food was really nice. Enjoyed the dishes! The service can be improved, we were more or less asked to leave the moment we finished our food. We understand that they have limited seating and a queue but just felt rushed.

We had our wedding food catered from Gokul in September, it was excellent. All our guests loved it and the team was working hard to keep trays full and tables clean. Thank you so much to the catering team for great food and service. We will highly recommend:)

Really nice Indian vegetarian food and many other Singaporean dishes with an Indian mix added to it. Can be quite crowded and parking can be found nearby.

I bought 4 packet of hyderabad Briyani n Chicken Rice for $80 But to my surprise the container they used to pack the briyani was to small then the original packing I felt I being scam by them . When I call them by phone hope to talk to the Manager but the person refuse my request saying he will send my complaint during a general meeting and the worst part is the person I talk to is actually a worker from India. JUST because you'll one time a famous restaurant you can cheat customer like this .... hope fully someone can read this review and send yo more relevant department for immediate action .
