To be honest, like I said in other reviews, I have been quiet liberal in giving reviews. But with all the name and fame of this joint, I came by after few years and well, only to be hugely disappointed. Well, interior deco sucks and on top to make things worse the taste sucks as well. I had come with great hopes but really disappointed with the experience and food taste. Experience and ambience doesn’t really matter if the food is great. But I guess, the old magic of this place has withered away. Only good thing was the meat was tender and soft. Hence 2 stars.

The excellent biryani served here is as perfect as the dish could aspire to be. The bed of golden, fluffy, fragrant rice is punctuated by crispy fried shallots, and bits of the dry aromatics from the reduced curry perfuming every bite. Need something to moisten and mellow out your rice and meat? Spoon some yoghurt mint sauce over to add layers to the already rich flavour profile. The star of the dish I ordered is the young mutton - the chunks in my regular sized biryani fall off the bone, comprising a mixture of tender and chewy meat, with parts of fat literally melting in your mouth upon contact. A delicious classic. What wrapped up the meal for me was the delectably cute pistachio kulfi (popsicle ice cream) A harmonious combination of sugar and spice, melting the cup with the heat of your palm loosens this creamy delight into a sweet, nutty, milky treat that balanced out the main dish beautifully.

Heard a lot of publicity regarding "Best Biryani in town" today i got the chance to go there and dine in. The entire dish looks OK but taste was average and texture of the entire dish was very dry. The egg served was cold while the briyani was warm....

Biryani (SGD $12.50) @ Bismillah Biryani. . This Michelin Bib Gourmand stall by chef-owner Arif Salahuddin has been regularly regarded as having among the best renditions of this dish since 2008. . Generous with the spice blend and portion size, the heaping plate has morsels of bone-in mutton peeking out from the fluffy mound of spiced basmati rice, crowned with swirls of fried shallots. . Cooked dum style, the mutton meat pulls off easily, tender and succulent without being gamey, boldly meaty savoury spice in taste. . The loose grains of rice separate easily, with the biryani masala spice blend lending a fragrant, non-oily, grainy sweet savoury spice flavour infused into the rice. . Completed with a side of creamy raita, the milky sweet sour yoghurt cutting through the richness of this lovely dish.

We had the brain and kidney. They were delicious. But the food missed a bit of punch. The briyani is definitely very good. We will try again but order different things.

I recently had the opportunity to try the mutton biryani at a Bismillah restaurant. Unfortunately, the dish left much to be desired. The main issue was the below par salt, which had a negative impact on the overall flavor and enjoyment of the dish. While the mutton was cooked well and had a good texture, the lesser salt portion made it difficult to savor the other spices and flavors that are typically present in a biryani. The rice also suffered from the same issue, rendering the dish almost inedible. Overall, the experience was disappointing, and I would not recommend this particular restaurant for mutton biryani. It is crucial for restaurants to ensure that the seasoning in their dishes is well-balanced to provide customers with a satisfactory dining experience.

Has the chicken Briyani. Had high hopes as this place was recommended. However, the Briyani tasted average only to me. The chicken meat that was not on the drumstick was tough and dry. Saw quite a number of takeaway orders when dining in though. Self-service concept so no added GST to the price.

Lamb shank biriyani: Personal suggestion is that why pay 5$ more for a lamb shank bone when you can have the same goodness in plain mutton biriyani. It’s no different just the view is more satisfying.

The kid mutton biryani was fine — meat was tender and tasty, though could use a bit more salt. Paneer masala was surprisingly better. For all the awards and positive press, our experience fell short of expectations. Seems the place has also seen better days.

Used to be very good biryani some years back but now is some aromatic rice with chunks of meat. Not a palatable platee of food. Very much not happy with the food. Had taken one regular mutton biryani the meat piece was food size but the taste was 😴😔 The other dish was large size chicken biryani pieces was good but again the taste was pretty disappointing 😞. Sorry to say doesn't live upto the Michelin standards need to check wether Michelin standards have fallen so low.

This restaurant is featured by the Singapore Airlines as the promotion of a Singapore signature local dish, thus my expectation to this restaurant was really high. The food itself is quite good and the serving size is quite big. Their large portion came with 3 pieces of chicken (thigh, drumstick, and breast). However I do not feel that the chicken dum biryani is more special than biryani in other restaurants.

Today I had bismillah biryani many years later; the taste differs from the original five years ago. I didn't feel like biryani. And Shiek Kabab is the worst, and it can't call Sheikh Kabab. As of now, I will not recommend it to anyone.

By checking reviews we choose this place to have lunch, Not worth visiting, will not recommend. Not as expected, Highly expensive, less quantity. Taste below average. We ordered lamb pulao, served with pulao rice with sausage and contained only rib bones and no meat. 2 stars only for not charging for ice cubes for bavarage.

2024 I loved the chicken haleem, keep going back for it's authentic and flavourful taste. Fresh Lime juice was yummy supplement with desi food, however no take away allowed for remaining drink. 2022 Tried the biryani. I was suggested this place because it's the best biryani in Singapore however I couldn't agree as it was too rich in masalahs for my taste. Do recommend for authentic spicy flavor rich biryani lovers.

Their Briyani really hit the right spot!! We got the regular sized mutton briyani and the meat was so so tender and flavorful. Loved the aromatic rice!! Samosa was a super stuffed 3D dumpling packed with a chock full of veggies. All the portions were really generous.

Bismillah Biryani continues to be rated as one of the best biryani’s in Singapore. Rice is flavourful, meat is tender, and the servings are generous. The restaurant mentions, that they do not serve any gravy with their biryanis… and you don’t need it. The only grouse I had was the atmosphere. For a hot humid Singapore, where you are to indulge in hot spicy foods, would be good to have the place air conditioned, and come with a neat tidy washroom to freshen up. But NO this is a rudimentary open coffee style seating. Apart from Biryanis, they also serve few other Indian and Arabic style dishes.

I tried many times but from Shanton Branch, that's actually quite good. I visited little India for some work and then found this one, ohh what a disaster, Very rude staff, especially counter fat lady Toilet without light Place looks terrible Food is too oily and meat also giving bad vibes This restaurant actually ruining the name of this brand chain, only good thing is Briyani taste is almost maintaining same brand. Don't judge brand by this brand, go Shanton Branch and you will enjoy real taste of Briyani. Happy eating.

I had love briyani for the curry gravy and papadum when I was growing up. One of the pop one I always had was the Beach Road opp the food centre. That was before I discovered Bismilah Dum Briyani. From what I learned dum briyani basically differs from usual briyani as in the meat type of your choice is cooked with the rice. Unlike common briyani where the rice is cooked en mass and dump the meat as and after thought before serving to you! Therefore dum briyani do not offer curry gravy as a side nor papadum. The latter, I wish they can just add on though. So at Bismilah, the best seller baby lamb briyani is so tender and juicy since they are cooked and steamed within the rice. No curry needed because the marination and juice from the lamb just permeates throughout the whole plate. And they come with the whitish mint sauce should you need to balance out the spiciness of the rice and lamb. I have tried also chicken and they are just as juicy. The lamb shank which is a little more pricey I found, to be a tad bland and gamey. But if you like the tulang (marrow) just go for the lamb shank. Also what I found is their fried onions that tops the plate is heavenly! And they are pretty petty on giving you more onions unless you are VIP lar. Haha oh and they don’t sell coffee or tea. It it now my weekly trip to satisfy my cravings.

Pricey but their lamb briyani (dum) is indeed well cooked - meat slips off the bone, tender & aromatic. The rice is also rich in spices & “lamb-ness”. Will definitely try their lamb shank the next time. The briyanis are on the drier side, served without the typical laddle of meat curry / daahl curry / side vegetables in SG; It does come with a laddle of yoghurt. Personally, in terms of flavours, Bismillah has not overtaken my go-to briyanis (1 in Tekka market and 1 in Yishun for a good $5-6) but I,m one of those who enjoys that extra modest laddle of meaty masala. That said, the lamb here is really well prepared and it’s not realistic to compare with the hawkers using cheaper mutton to keep prices down. We also had the chicken briyani, grilled mackerel and palak paneer. The fish and the palak paneer were very enjoyable but that wouldn’t be the reason to be here. Lamb trumps the chicken and if you,re already paying restaurant price, might as well… With this years-long procrastinated visit, I finally checked off the “last” acclaimed briyanis in Singapore!

This was my go to restaurant for the best mutton biryani but now after my recent visit, I am terribly disappointed. The biryani now tastes no where near what it was a year back. Biryani lacks the flavour and punch what it used to be and the goat meat also seems to have degraded. Overall very dry and meat lacks the tenderness. For the price that is charged now, what is served is not at all justified.

When we went early on a Sunday evening the place was empty. We ordered the standard chicken and mutton biryani.. my daughter wanted naan bread. The rice dishes were very average so a bit overpriced. The naan was a joke... looked like someone had flattened a stale baguette. Totally underwhelming.

Visited after hearing rave reviews! Staff were lovely but food was really disappointing, not much flavour to the biryani and it was very dry. The curry was nearly all oil and the naan was like white bread from the supermarket.

Bismillah Biryani Restaurant is a Michelin Bin Gourmand award winner so expect to pay Michelin prices. The restaurant had self-service stickers all over the restaurant so I didn't rate "Service" highly. Other than eating in comfort and air-conditioning, I believe there are other places nearby which sell Biryani at a fraction of the price, and you'd get gravy with your biryani too.

I really like the light and fluffy texture of the basmati rice in the biryani, but the tandoori chicken was a bit dry with minimal meat. The fried fish had a slightly fishy taste, whereas the masala chicken was well-marinated. The standout was the paneer curry, which reminiscent of buttery chicken – creamy, slightly tangy, and a perfect pairing to the naan. Despite having high expectations due to Michelin stickers, I've tasted better biryani for less than $7, and $16 per plate feels steep, especially in this ECONOMY. While I considered giving it a 4, I won't be returning as there are better biryani options elsewhere.

Food was very tasty, totally different to what I was expecting. A little confusion with the menu as the description says that the curries come with rice but told that it doesn’t when we ordered and rice is not sold as a seperate dish. Naan was like a big burger bun rather than a naan cooked in a tandoor. Overall the food was good but the service could have been better.

Great food! Staff are very friendly with great personalities😊 we got there an hour before they close shop but still got great food and service, they are very upfront with how they operate(self service), they explain how big servings are to help you decide what to order and avoid you ordering too much. Person on the register is a very nice lady, gave us free ice cream after we had a nice chat outside the shop❤️ she has 70 cats but mostly strays that she feeds outside her house and 8 dogs, quite the animal lover🥰

Tried Bismillah Biryani restaurant, Dunlop Street outlet. Ordered Chicken biryani, Chicken Qorma, Paneer masala, naan, kulcha and firni. The food: Biryani was below expectations and surely salt was v low. Whole taste was quite bland. Chicken qorma didn't taste like qorma instead tasted like simple chicken masala. Interestingly paneer masala was the best dish in whole order. Naan, although quite soft but felt more like break. They weren't fresh at all and seemed ordered from a supplier or bakery. Same was the Condition of kulcha. Finally, the dessert 'firni' was worst. Overall food disappointed a bit maybe because our expectations were high. Service: Service was just OK, only two people to carry the load of all customers. We had to ask to get the table cleaned. Ambience: To say its bare bones is an understatement. Floor was cracking from multiple places, v old style "shadi' chairs and nothing to call some interiors. V bad Ambience in fact. Cost: Lunch for 3 costed sgd 50 so not expensive at all. Overall experience OK for the cost.

Found myself near Dunlop Street and decided to finally take up a friend's recommendation to try the Biryani here. As they were already out of their 'Signature' Dum Chicken Biryani (and a few other items as well), I ended up with their 'regular' Chicken Biryani, recommended by the friendly lady at the Counter, who also explained there were three sizes available. She suggested the 'Regular' size for me. Although I found even that portion was a bit too much for me, I have to admit it truly lived up to its reputation! The chicken pieces were well-marinated, soft, and tasty, with a generous dose of the spices evident in every bite. There was absolutely no need for any 'salna' or gravy either as the rice was not at all dry. The lightly flavored raita (yogurt) paired well with the rice and chicken too. Unfortunately, I forgot to take pics of the biryani itself before I dug into it with much enthusiasm. The wonderful aroma that wafts up as soon as the container is opened will do that to most of us! I did, however, take a pic of the sample containers which should provide some idea as to the portions available. Good job, Bismillah Biryani! Will certainly visit again to try out other items on the menu.

The lamb shank, mutton, chicken briyani are excellent!!! Been here many years ago but the food taste just as good. If you’re into dum briyani, this is the best place to have it! But don’t stop there, order the other food items to complement your briyani!!!! Food is so good, our plates are wiped clean!
