I LOVE this place! My family and I came here in New Year's Day (2022) and we loved it. There was still plenty of snow on the ground and it was beautiful. While the park was closed that day (there was an emergency closure per the sign at the front of the entrance) we were able to park outside the entrance and walk to the dock area. Then we drove over to the overlook where the bridge is and we walked down by the beach area. It was beautiful and will definitely come back another time of the year.

There are so many beautiful sites to see. We had a huge campsite. There are several restrooms throughout the campground, and they have showers. The camp hosts do a great job of keeping everything clean and are super friendly. The entire site was quiet at night and in the morning. The beach was a 5 minute walk from our campsite. We could hear the waves at night. Super relaxing. 5 star campground!!

Deception Pass is by far one of my all time favorite destinations. Whether it be visiting the beach, exploring hiking trails, or just enjoying the breathtaking views, you can't ever grow tired of it. Its a one of a kind and perfect spot for photographers to snap some crazy cool photos. A great place to visit with family and friends and an even better place to go when you just need to escape everything and everyone. Im so grateful and lucky I have the privilege to live in a place like this.

This was a wonderful, easy park to visit. It’s located just south of the Deception Pass Bridge off of Highway 20. There were several options to walk down to the beach. We took the shortest one which I think was only .1 of a mile. It was fairly step but was a well maintained path. It seemed fine for both seniors and small children. At the bottom there was a rocky beach with great views of the bridge and the channel leading out to the strait. I will plan on going back to explore the other pathways to the beaches.

Lovely view. I am not afraid of heights, but the walk across the bridge can be intense for some I have taken to see the view. Traffic is close on one side, and a waist height railing on the other. You can cross under the bridge on stairs on either side of the bridge which is helpful to know. Historical info on southeast side, but most parking is on northwest side. Enjoy!

Must see and experience. Will need hiking boots. Walking poles will help too especially in steeper areas. Pack your camera and be ready for amazing views and a great time.

One of the most beautiful places I've ever been. I drive across for a daily commute, but stopping and spending a few hours or even a day is so worth it. You can see Washington wildlife, lots of birds and you can sometimes see the sealife as well. Great little parks and camps to set up at and beautiful beaches and nature walls. Definitely worth the visit. Plenty of parking for non discover pass holders, but definitely recommend the pass for easy access to amenities

Dog friendly (on leash, please), lush green, beach, and the bridge! Breathtakingly beautiful place - one of the most visited state parks in WA state for a reason! The drive itself is beautiful - then crossing over the bridge across the towering rocky boulders, watching the waves off the sound below - awe inspiring! A few miles after crossing the bridge brings you to the official enter point to deception park state park. A quick check in with discover pass (today being Earth day, it was a free pass day), we drove to one of the designated parking lots for north beach. A quick walk brought us to the water with the view of the bridge with the arches. Must visit place!

06/24/23: the park is enormous and beautiful, especially the views from the Deception Pass are outstanding and stunning. I would say one whole day is not enough to discover the whole park. I saw many people come for a picnic, family gathering, and sightseeing. I enjoyed this park and would love to come back in the near future

This was my first time going to this park. It was such a blast. Took less than a mile to get to the water. The hike down wasn’t too bad and lots to view on way down. Going back up is a bit steep. Once at bottom the beach is so beautiful. Can see eagles, pigeons, birds. Then the beautiful bridge you cross over to get too. The beach area is pretty small. I’m sure in the summer it’s more. Lots of drift wood, shells, sea life, just a beautiful peaceful place to see.

Can't visit the area without stopping to experience the breathtaking views. Such a great little stop over before heading further north. The bridge views offer you that heightened experience of almost flying and you just may see a seal or two in the canyons below.

I only knock a star off because I feel like a little more might be done to maintain the park. It looks like there was some recent tree fall that may not have been addressed. There were a lot of people- especially surprising since it was a weekend in late November. This area is a popular destination for sure. The trail from the bridge to the beach below is even and well travelled. Social distancing is a challenge as people go up and down the same paths... But, hey... We're out of doors, right? The paths are swift and easily passable. Climbing back up is appropriately challenging: a subtle incline with a few steeper hikes. The bridge itself has zero distancing for passing others. It's a strip of concrete about 2 feet wide, elevated above the very active roadway. It's breathtaking in the good and the bad ways. This journey is very invigorating.

This place is the most impressive bridge and most magnificent beauty u can imagine and shouldn't be missed. I've been here multiple times over the years and never tire of the view! It's always windy on the bridge and down on the beach it's warm after the sun moves overhead so it's best to go down there after noon. Parking is limited between Deception Pass and Canoe Pass but there's plenty of street parking along the rd before approaching the 1st bridge and also after the big bridge (in an actual lot) Pics don't even express how amazing it looks in person!

This is a gorgeous spot. I arrived early in the morning, and while the bridge was very active, the beaches were peaceful and calming. There’s some trails but I only walked from the beach up to the bridge. The views are amazing but it’s nerve-racking if you don’t like heights. If I had more time, I would have done a kayak tour because the water and mountains were stunning. Parking was easily available early morning but got somewhat full by 11:00 (on a weekday). Be aware that Discovery Pass is required to park.

Beautiful beach. Awesome place to camp! The sites are privates and a good size. From the campground you have access to the beach, the lake and the trails all the way to the bridge and eve a little further, where you get a nice view from the top of the hill. The lake is one of my kids favorite activity to do during the summer. The water is nice and warm, there's a good sand area to build castle and picnic tables to snack. The trails are easy to intermediate it's not enough path to walk the whole day but It's definitely enough to keep the family busy for a few hours (2-3 with young children). That bridge is one of the most amazing places to be to catch the sunrise!!! 🤩

Beautiful beach with lot of parking place, kayaking and beach. There is kayak on rental that helps one to do kayak without carrying their own ones. The place is scenic and have wonders like the 850 year old tree a few meters away from the beach. The sunset here during summer is amazing. The view of the deception pass bridge is awesome. It provide access to North and West side beaches and you can choose the one of your preference. If you love to get a sun tanning and warmth of the summer sun, choose the west side beach. Northside beach provide scenic view of deception pass bridge and lot of shades. The amphitheatre here have programs during summer and can be a great value add during your trip here.

If you google deception pass, you'll be led into the bridge. The view on the bridge is good but there isn't much other than that. I would highly recommend parks around here. There are parks for decent, moderate hiking, and awesome views.

This place is as busy as beautiful. There are parking spots just off the road, by both ends of the bridge. If you want to park in the parking lot, down lower, you do need a Discovery pass or pay for the day. There are steps going under the bridge for pedestrians to cross from one side to the other on the west side of the bridge. If you are lucky, you can spot seal families swimming along the water under the bridge, near the shore. Despite the crush of humanity, it's worth stopping and enjoying at least once. There are foot trails in the area as well, at free to park spots off the road.

The bridge is majestic, but so is the whole park. After checking out the bridge we went to the West Beach. Beautiful sandy beach, which borders a lake! There was a kayak rental stand (for the lake) and an ice cream stand. There’s a trail that runs along the beach, that takes you into a desert looking area with grass covered dunes. So much to see and explore within a short distance of each other. Came twice already and will absolutely return again.

There is so much to explore at Deception Pass. It's great for day trips but you could easily spend a few days trekking the area. The towering trees that surround the hills, spits and waters are incredible to marvel at. 🌲⛰️🌊 The trails here are well maintained and I love the woodsy old signs. 🥾🪵

Absolutely gorgeous! 😍 the views are breathtaking! Has a spot to pull over and take in the scenery! And a cement sitting/viewing area as well. ⚠️ There is a pretty steep downward hill, so keep your Littles close!

There isn't a view here that I could call boring.. from every angle it's absolutely breathtaking! The turquoise water, the bridge, the moss covered hills, the cliff face off to one side and the ocean views on the other... and then that incredible ocean air! We love it here! Lots of places that are wheelchair accessible.

So many beautiful places to see! The water is such a lovely color and the hikes/trails are fun to walk in and explore! There are camping sites and everything here is so lovely! Definitely recommend!

The bridge is majestic but so are the hiking trails. Stunning beaches, the views of the bay and mountains are breathtaking. You need a deception pass to be displayed on your vehicle. All the trails are well maintained. We ended up skipping the park, but driving to the bridge and then to Rosario Beach.

This is my favorite place to be! It's a very large park that can, and typically does, get busy but is well worth a stop. The park is huge and offers so much, the parks website has a lot of information. My favorites are the beaches, camping and wildlife. Did I mention the park is big? I'm lucky to live nearby so my visits can be frequent to relax and reset. Lots of picture opportunities. I wish I could figure out how to load video's on my reviews.

Deception Pass, beautiful, swirling waters below. Is that the Deception? Saw sea lions or seals below. There is a trail from upper parking and goes down to the beach below or you can drive down if you are unable to go down a decent grade. Trail is well traveled. Picnic tables, bathrooms. You can walk across bridge, however, we had a 2 year old and it was nerve racking with the amount of traffic and we were on a cool November day. So we only ventured far enough to get a couple of pics. Hiked down to the beach and then walked to the 2nd one. Very clean and we were only ones there.

This state park is much less crowded in winter or on stormy days, which is my favorite time to visit. The silken gray skies in every variation of light and shadow are so mysterious and breathtaking above the wild emerald swirls of treacherous water splashing against cold, hard rocks - stand along a viewpoint and be mesmerized! The beach is meant for exploring, with its multicolored stones rolling in the waves, only pay attention to the tides and don't get caught without an accessible strip of shore to help you return to the trailhead. In summer it's glorious when sparkling in the sun, but throngs of visitors can make finding a parking spot difficult. This is one of the most beloved parks in the state, even so, and if you have the chance, do visit.

Awesome camp ground! Friendly staff and rangers! Easy beach access to both salt water and fresh water from camp sites. Restrooms are clean and have showers. Showers take tokens and cost $.50 for 3 minutes. Tokens can be purchased at the ranger station at the main camp entrance. Water stations are plentiful around the park. Many great hiking paths. Come and enjoy!

A peaceful scenic area with sandy shores. Rocks to admire or climb on. Natural serenity at it's best... I enjoyed seeing the the birds, rabbits, seal, and more. If you are stressed, tired, or just need a break from your daily routine. I suggest coming out and enjoy hearing the crashing waves. Put your feet in the sand and admire the natural beauty around you. I visited at dusk and enjoyed the sun setting.

Awsome place. Make campground reservations early in the year. I'm a local. Sometimes I can't get in. More Canadians than us.. Good trout fishing in the lake. North beach a favorite during salmon season.

Beautiful and amazing views! Every time someone comes to visit me from out of state I take them here. Stop by the shrimp shack first and enjoy your meal here at this beautiful state park. Stunning views of the Deception Pass bridge from the water. You can see the San Juan Islands. Great hikes through the woods, or along the beach. EA-18 fighter jets fly by from Whidbey Island Naval air station. Some find the jet nose offensive, but it's exciting to me. I am glad I don't have to listen to it 24/7 though.

Pay attention to using a selfie stick on the bridge, my truck mirror will rip it from your hand and throw it off the bridge. Sorry about your gopro or phone, whatever was on the end of that selfie stick the other day buddy, but blame the truck mirror, not me, I was just doing my job.

What a great spot !!! One of the most visited parks in Washington state, this is a must stop. The views from the iconic bridge are stunning. From the northern end of the double bridge one can park and take a short, but steep walk down under the bridge. We saw a deer on the way down. The bridge was built in 1934-35 and perfectly fits in to the landscape.
