Words can not express how AMAZING this museum is!!! It's so rich in culture & explains so much about how Carnival started and why. The costumes for The Queen of Carnival are so detailed . They had a free dance class, and the dance teachers also explained the meaning behind the type of song & dance that went with it. Great mini history/lecture class. Loved it. Everyone was super nice & super friendly. The place is a must go to if you're in town. I'm so glad I took the time to go. Highly recommend

Wonderful museum, huge and picturesque in all of its 4 levels. The carnival queens display is INSANE, it had around 40 different costumes, all belonging to each and every woman that wore it. It's full of interactive displays interwoven with actual high-quality items pertaining to the carnival, original music blasting directly to your ears, the immersion is astonishing. Only downside: no running water in the facilities.

Great little museum--well organized and interesting. Tours were available in both Spanish and English. The costumes on the 2nd floor are spectacular. This is a must see if you are in Barranquilla!

A friend found this place and it is worth going to. Very informative and entertaining. The method of celebration and spread of carnaval was surprisingly. The dresses reflect the epochs and purpose.

Incredible. More than you hear. There is a tale about the beginning of Barranquilla and the role played by the Carnival. Just great.

The place was supposed to reopen at 2pm. We are now 30 people standing outside for 30 minutes in 35 degrees. No one came to us, there’s no sign on the door saying that the museum was exceptionally closed or anything. From the other reviews it happens a lot so don’t waste your time going all the way here, there’s nothing else to do in the neighborhood.

way, way, way over-rated. They are very strict with times so when you purchase tickets you actually have to be by the door at the EXACT time for when you purchased tickets. There is no waiting area so if you come with your family and that includes kids the waiting can be a major pain. The staff is generally rude and ambivalent about your situation. There is NO PARKING available for visitors so that’s very inconvenient for families. The tour can be easily done in less than 15 mins unless you want to be thorough in which case it can be done in 30. We were thirsty and guess what? they don’t have drinking water available or a place where you can buy. The only reason they get a 1 star is because they have good bathrooms. Overall, it looks like a good idea but given the space it’s just very far from a 4.6 star. It more like a solid 3 star experience if you don’t have to deal with all the inconveniences that I had to deal with. If you come from very far and we’re looking for a worthwhile experience I recommend skipping this one.

(English below) Muchas pantallas sin funcionar y en general, un museo mal mantenido. La historia y tradición del carnaval merecen algo mucho mejor. I visited this week ahead of carnaval. It’s disappointing that the museum dedicated to the story and history of carnaval is so poorly maintained. The day I went, on the second floor at least seven of the screens were broken. It is on these screens you can see the story of carnaval in other countries and cultures. To have this many screens broken and out of operation, especially the week of carnaval, is very poor on the part of museum management.

This museum can't be praised enough. It is the saving grace for visiting Barranquilla as a foreign tourist. The highlight is the collection of totally exuberant dresses of the Barranquilla carnaval queens up to 60 years back. All displays are translated in English as well as English speaking staff that is available and very friendly.

Most history info is also translated into English. Great displays, eye dazzling Carnival Queen gowns. The best thing to do in Barranquilla.

It was okay. They had a room where they showed the history of the Carnaval and the masks used in the parade. They had some interactive screens where you can be dressed up in Carnaval clothes on screen and play different carnaval music. Outside, they had some left over float and old sign but the whole thing took about 30 mins and it was meh

Excellent museum, like in Mexico or anywhere in the world where they are preoccupied to make things well. I was disappointed to not see "la casa del carnaval" also. It supposed to be seen, but they said that because of pandemia it couldn't been seen (nothing logic, like they opened but not completely and they are coming with this excuse when there is a question). Too bad they don't show it to the people and there is no flexibility. The entrance fee is 12.000 cop

It's an amazing experience, the exhibiton holds the history of the escence of Barranquilla and their people, it's "carnaval" or fest. It's unique display goes from national instruments to authentic winning gowns from the carnaval. It's art. Great service provided by the staff, clean restrooms, colorful gift shop, elevator for elders and child-friendly enviorment.
