Poorly maintained. Tiles in pool missing ( no mosaic tiles left at all and full of mould ) Showers ether have no pressure or squirt water all over the place ( reported to reception and been using showers for over two months now with no change ). Equipment not maintained ( with parts missing or Padding loose) Equipment that has screens mostly donโ€™t work (itโ€™s a joke) . Sanitizing bottles dirty. Bins overflow and paper towels not replaced throughout an entire hour workout. Obviously Canโ€™t take photos everywhere as it invades privacy. This isnโ€™t just one day. Or one week. Itโ€™s constant. Bad management and never visible. Must say ... Cleaning staff do try their best. For a premium club it is very poorly run and not maintained. As if by clueless people.

I think my hot shower at home produces more steam, than the ladies steam room at this flagship gym. Unfortunately I think the ladies steam room is sad... I've joined this gym for the last two years and the ladies steam room is never hot and steamy... Two things you need for it to work and be a called a steam room. Now it's more a water droplet room. The Sauna works great but not everybody prefers that option and would be nice to sit in a steam room with actual steam. I've asked, complained & still no real improvement.

I joined this gym over a month ago. They still havenโ€™t been able to activate my membership in the app or give me access to the sign up promotion I was promised. (30 free smoothies). This is because I joined under new details that differ from when I was last a member. (Change of email address, phone number etc). Apparently the Virgin Active system simply canโ€™t cope with this very trivial and commonplace issue and their IT Department has no clue how to fixed it! The staff at the gym have been very friendly and concerned and have escalated the matter but so far to no avail. Even the Senior Training Manager has been unable to resolve it thus far. If Virgin Active canโ€™t cope with something so basic I will very sadly have to cancel my membership ๐Ÿ˜ข

Long story! I had to cancel my membership as I have to have a hip replacement. Went on 12 May, and the person behind the counter canceled it ( or so I thought mistakenly) and said I would need to pay the membership on 1 June only. Well, on 1 July..another debit happened. Went to them again and was told by Grant that the previous person had not canceled the contract, but he would arrange a refund within a week or so. Filled in forms on the 3rd .so on 18th, still nothing. Went back again..spoke to various persons repeating the story.. no manager.. too busy, etc. Finally, I reversed the debit order as someone advised me to to..should have done this in the first place and saved myself a headache with people that don't care!

They are not helping us to gym during "lockdown" Letting 50 in is not half the gym's capacity. We cannot pay fees to be turned away at the door. Also being forced to wear masks during vigorous exercise is not what the law says. Medically masks are unproven to work anyway. Close to cancelling my contract.

Virgin Active Waterstone is a 5 star gym, but I am only giving them 3 stars, because R230 for a day pass, is daylight robbery. The equipment is modern and clean. The staff were friendly. The bathrooms were neat and clean. Wi-Fi appears to be only for members. The Kauai had quick service, but that could be due to the fact that it was Sunday morning and not very busy. A good experience overall, day pass price, aside.

The facilities are good. The admin is terrible. I joined in August and have been charged more than I agreed to for the last 3 months. Amanda, the club administrator, has been incredibly unhelpful and told me that this would be fixed(spoiler, it wasn't). Emails and calls go unanswered.

I have been using this gym for many years and it has been a sanctuary. However I think hands-on management is slipping. Access control is incessantly broken ("the system is offline", not my problem attitude) or the access boom is stuck. Now going on months. How hard can it be? The steam room and showers are often smelly, come evenings. Many equipment pieces I use (treadmills and bikes) are out of order. Cardio section and weights look better maintained. Don't even hope to use the TVs on running equipment - they are either off, stuck on a soccer channel, or don't respond to controls. Gtm has given up as users bring their own music and bluetooth sets. Some spin and wattbikes have rusty foot pedals/clasps. The recent reorganisation does not make much sense to me...now we can't watch overhead TVs anymore, so you end up running for an hour watching people do stretches on the floor in front of you. Lockers are not very clean and tidy...they need some love. The restaurant revamp looks good. Overall some aspects of the gym has lost its fresh and well maintained feel, which I feel sorry about. The spin instructors are generally excellent.

I think there are 2 reasons that my average experience here has been disappointing (1) it is a well run, popular facility (2) the next nearest Virgin Active closed down (Somerset West N2). Result: this gym is now badly over subscribed, at least this is my impression. The pool in particular is far too busy and on the rare occasion you get a lane to yourself, chances are water is cloudy. Or maybe I've just been spoiled in Johannesburg.

Went to the pound gym session after insistence of my colleague. I normally go to the Sanctuary's Virgin Active. I must say, I love how this one is so spacious. There's more than enough machines and equipments for everyone. And the pound class was excruciating. AND SO MUCH FUN! Really great way to take out the stress and tension of the week. And the instructor is so energetic which makes everyone energtic and give their whole. Would definitely come again.

Overcrowded at peak times and limited parking. Caters for the yetset and fashion conscious. Rather small gym.

My experience is mixed. I have had very good experiences dealing with most of the people at the gym for many years. (The only exceptions were a training manager and a "biokineticist.") My wife now needs to cancel her membership because of her physical condition. She was extremely frustrated trying to cancel on the phone after waiting for at least 20 minutes for a response. However, a person at reception helpfully told her that she could fill out a paper form at Waterstone in order to cancel which she will proceed to do.

There are a lot of good reviews, probably because it is a big facility, and there is a variety of different types of equipment, however after a second time this week getting to the showers not having hot water or soap, and still waiting for machines despite being there at 7am on a Saturday, I would try and avoid going here again. I am sure a lot of people are happy with this club, however would likely depend what exercise you want to do, I do find that this gym is very crowded and there is not enough of the same type of equipment in the strength training section, only two bench press benches for for such a large gym is lacking, same with some of the other common machines, the machines are also old but still working fine. If you are used to some of the newer clubs like Table Bay Mall then you will likely be disappointed by this club. It's a pity that the same club fees gives you an exceptional experience at one club and a not so great one in the other.

The gym is quite small and not really focused on weightlifting, the padding on a lot of the equipment is missing. There isnโ€™t a lot of equipment for the quantity of people. Itโ€™s more of a family gym and there are lots of little kids and teens who hog all the equipment. So if you want a more weight focused training I would highly suggest looking somewhere else. Itโ€™s a very average gym.

The gym was recently renovated and it looks great! Staff are friendly and always helpful. They have ample equipment and a great weight training area, 25 m pool and smaller, heated pool. Sauna and steamroom. A wide variety of classes and just generally a great vibe. Awesome place to train!

They are a bunch of thieves!!!! Don't listen to the promises they make when you sign up. I have been over charged for six month and after sending 100emails and making lots of phone calls I have had no resolution and I am just ignoring being ignored.

My 5 day a week go to venue. The strength training area tends to get over crowded and can cause a delay, which is a bit of a pain when you pressed for time. I love the gym overall and most staff are friendly and helpful.

After the upgrade the pool is next level, but because it is so great it is often very busy. The rest of the gym equipment is also good. Love the Kauai inside the gym, the staff is very friendly, theservice is very good and so is the coffee. Great exterior, staff is friendly. The place is clean. The showering facilities and lockerrooms are clean, but there is 0 privacy, but I have learned over the past couple of months that the 0 privacy is a Virgin Active thing. Maybe part of the plot to make you exercise harder. I really dislike it.

A standard gym who seemingly struggles to get this gym in tip top shape. Too many issues too often. Complaints and suggestions to managers fall on deaf ears.

When is the club-V going to fix their scanner to scan our kids cards. It's been broken since the start of covid in 2019. We are still using pen and paper to complete the details. Very frustrating

Fantastic gym with great friendly and professional staff. Particular mention to Wikis van Graan who not only 'talks the talk' but also 'walks the walk'. A credit to the club and an inspiration to those of us trying to lose weight and improve our lifestyle. The cleaners also deserve recognition for their hard work in keeping it spotless and hygienic. Well done to all

After a delightful aquarobics class I slipped and fell in the changing room, my own fault entirely. I was unable to move at first but received the most prompt, efficient, patient and caring first aid from the swimming pool manager and other female staff, none of whose names I noted. A screen was provided and I was helped to get dressed. They would have called an ambulance but I felt it was unnecessary and drove home. The next day I found I had cracked a wrist and vertebra, a reminder of the state of my 76 year old bones, that I should exercise more regularly and stop pretending to be an unbreakable teenager. My eternal gratitude to that lovely lady and I hope to return to her wonderful exercise pools as soon as possible!

Fantastic, beautiful gym with poor management. Equipment are often out of order and it takes weeks before something is done about it. A week ago we complained to the manager about this and then he asked us to specify what is out of order. Good management should know exactly what is going on in the gym. We tried to work with the management and even offered free advise and help from a profesional electric and mecanical engineer, but no....this is the general trend. The members pay a lot for poor service.

My son has been trying for 5 months to cancel his subscription to this gym. He has spoken to numerous people in the gym and Virgin Active organisation without success. The administrative processes in this organisation are appalling. No one seems to care about the customers and the damage to the brand.

Situated right next to the N2 on the R44, creating easy access en route home. The gym is also situated at Waterstone Village Shopping Centre which has all the amenities that you need. The gymming equipment is well maintained and the facility offers a full size pool. The only down side is the fact that it is a very popular gym based on its location. The best times to attend the gym is either mid morning (around 10am), mid afternoon (around 2pm) or late evening (around 8pm). The staff are friendly and very helpful and they take the health protocols seriously. A wonderful experience indeed!!

VA Waterstone is one of the best gyms in the group. Compliance to all Covid 19 protocols are in place and the vibe is very good. Always parking under cover which is great throughout the year with heat and rain in the different seasons.
