My family and I (5 people) stayed at the chateau from 8-10th July for a short stay during our longer INTERRAIL vacation this summer. Overall the stay was exceptional and lived up to our expectations for a chateau stay. On the other hand there were a few downsides, for instance expensive food for families (especially when no one is under 12 years old), maintenance issues in the bathrooms and tennis court. My family would love to try the breakfast and dinner, enjoying the older room and the view, but would rather spend that much money on something else. Therefore we went to the local food stores instead, which worked ok. The price for the rooms were reasonable though. Rooms (+facilities): I mailed the reception which 2 rooms we would like to stay in. We got them both. Both rooms were stunning. On the other side, as previously said, the bathroom gave a little less satisfaction. The shower were short for tall people, and the bathroom in general did not match the rest of the room and it was tearing and holes in the roof and walls. One of the reasons we chose to stay in this chateau, was because of the chateau’s many facilities, including the tennis court. When we found out we could not play on the court, we were somewhat disappointed. Hence we could only enjoy the view and use the pool. Service: I spent a lot of time sending e-mails to the reception before arriving at the chateau, trying to get certain rooms, and discuss some deals. They were patient and answered every mail in reasonable time. That I applaud. Still, there could have been less emailing, if they sent mails which was more elaborating, as I would not have to spend extra time confirming everything. Location: Stunning vineyards, idyllic on top of a small hill. Storks in a nest in a tower. Just beautiful. (I have read that the hotel will be renovated soon. I hope and recommend that the owner will keep and maybe even add to the chateau feeling and not modernize everything, as it becomes harder and harder to find authentic castle to stays in.) Chateau D’Isenbourg is a great hotel, but has still some potential. I hope they use this information well. Sincerely Erik M. P. G. Comment to the hotel's answer: As said, the numeourus emails could have been immensly reduced, if the reception wrote more elaborating mails. The extra free bed were we greateful for, but was a matter of cource. When we first booked the rooms, the receipt never said anything about an extra bed (for 40€ a night). So when I contacted the hotel to confirm our stay, the new information made us very surprised, when that was not what we had confirmed. Hence even more unnecessary mails was made and time was used. The price should always be clear (if we needed to pay 40€ more per night, we would probably find another hotel.) And the 10% discount was also a matter of course. Our first booking was cancallable. When we saw the official last minute deal, we simply changed to it. Yes, we got to choose hotel rooms, and the reception was still patient, hence why I gave you 5 stars. I remind you that we loved the stay (, but pls avoid skipping importaint information). Again, sincerly Erik M. P. G.

The staff (apart from the young lady at breakfast who was absolutely lovely) was distant, uninterested and haughty. Nobody knows how to smile. The room was old and heated to 27 degrees (impossible to sleep in), no room service on offer. The bathroom didn't even have a curtain for the shower, and I ended up having to store my stuff (makeup, face wash, etc) on the floor for lack of a better place to put it all. The Spa was clean and calm, the only nice thing about the castle. Shame as I was really looking forward to my stay here.

A nice wellness experience if you’re searching for it in an affordable price. The castle and the surroundings are very romantic and despite the fact the rooms are not renovated, they make the scene coming from another century. The only disappointed part of the experience was that there were noisy and loud kids in the wellness area, and we didn’t have the chance to relax. When an area is for wellness it should forbidden situations like this one, cause we came especially for this one and we didn’t enjoy it. The dinner in the restaurant is the cherry on the cake as well as the breakfast, definitely try it out! Big variety, fresh ingredients!

Great location from which to visit the Alsace region, highly recommended. Extremely comfortable bed and room, chocolates on the pillows, water bottles offered, and the spa experience is quite special. We visited the spa at 8 when it opened, and had it to ourselves. The jacuzzi with view is just too luscious! Friendly staff, great stay.

We stayed with my wife and our son of 5yo. The castle is really beautiful, overlooking at the Rouffach village and vineyards. Our stay was perfect, the staff super professional and friendly including the team in charge of the rooms. We enjoyed the restaurant of the castle. The pool of the castle was really great and in fact it is rare to fine such a place equipped with two pools. So, if one is looking for a peaceful and inspiring place, a stay in a building with history and a friendly staff, I clearly recommend to go!

When we asked the hotel to organize us a transport from the train station to the hotel (7 min drive), they told us to walk uphill through the fields for 30 min with all our luggage and that they were unable to call us a taxi in advance. Lunch was fully booked. Even if you are a hotel guest all they offered you was a cold plate. No vegetarian options. So from 10:00-19:00 they offer no food and their restaurant is booked out even if you are a hotel guest. Dinner had very little options. Mediocre food and very small portions. Extremely over priced. A normal coffee on the Terrasse had to be asked for multiple times. It was served without sugar, a spoon or even on a small plate and we were charged 6€. Hotel can barely call itself a spa hotel. It’s a hotel with a pool and a tiny sauna. The outdoor pool was closed even on semi-sunny days in summer. There was a tiny sauna which was constantly filled with people. The sauna fit Max 4 people. Their massage was mediocre. Lasted 35 min instead of 50 min. The town of Rouffach is cute however all restaurants are mostly closed on Sunday and Monday. As vegetarians there are no options. The decent restaurants are booked out and have to be reserved in advance. The hotel is close to a large street and you could constantly hear cars driving by. Except for the town of rouffach or the wine yards close by there are no options on going on a scenic walk. Staff was very unfriendly and not cooperative. We will definitely not be guests of this hotel again.

Where do i start? This was an AMAZING experience, me and my family of 5 had the time of our life being here. The room was great, including all you need. You got a spa experience that was good and also an outdoor pool. There were also several plusses about. You have picture perfect opportunities all around, from the vineyards to the village, and also some donkeys if thats what your looking for. Me and my brother had fun swimming and testing the spa options while my mother laid in the sun all day tanning, but also watching the storks that lived there. My father also jogged in the village telling me it was a nice place. The service was also top notch always helping if needed. + We asked for when the spa closed and they gave us an extra half an hour to relax. This is what I call service. Little - the tennis court was shut. My sister also enjoyed her stay tanning and bathing. Overall we had a good time with a lot of great memories and maybe and probably we will visit the Chateau in Rouffach again. I think it was a 3 hour train from Paris for those wondering. Also the rooms had kept their old fashion chatau style. I would advise this place for people with family, but also for couples. This would also be amazing for a solo traveler wanting to relax. Had a nice visit, we did an upgraded room and it was large. Rooms were quiet, warm and nicely decorated. Shower was tough to use, I am tall so I would have to sit in the tub to shower. Room price was pretty expensive. Had great views and not to far from a little town.

Okay, I’m biased: my parents celebrated their wedding here in 1984, and I was super-happy to be able to show my daughter this place just in time before it’s about to undergo a major renovation — I thus naturally hope it will retain most of its traditional style and charm!

Very nice hotel, lovely staff, great restaurant, nice beds. The whole package was just perfect. If you plan to visit load your credit card first, it's a little bit pricy, 5 stars, but worth every penny ⭐

A nice location but the hotel was a bit “tired”. The experience was a hotel that has been a luxury place, but hasn’t been maintained.

This is a great hotel. We had an excellent dinner here with delicious food and a stunning view. The pool and sauna on the premises were great. The beautiful village can be reached in a pleasant 10 min stroll. I would come back here any time.

Isenbourg is not only a hotel, it is an experience: Comfort, the site, friendliness, the gastronomy and an air of noble tradition and culture form a complete and integral event. Call it "Quality Time"! Thanks a lot.

The difference between the picture and reality is HUGE. There is almost nothing 5 stars in the entire hotel not even the dirty pool and boring dirty garden with dust and sand even around the pool. Any 5 star hotel has respect to details. Even if the room is in the adjunct building , it is part of the entire hotel and it should be clean and have a proper shower. It felt like a prison! Above that It is a very dirty place and is VERY overpriced. Laundry costs were more expensive that New York and it was not even washed properly. I am simply amazed how bad it can be. You leave the hotel and feel that you spent your money on nothing. Pity!

Their “basic” rooms are no more than 2 stars. Super hot, small bed, no aircondition, no working refrigerator. Staff are generally very friendly though and pool areas are nice!
