One of the many UNESCO sites in Tunisia. The Medina is nice and relatively clean. There are plenty of shops but not too many cafes or places to eat which is a shame. Perhaps I didn’t walk down the right alleys to see them. The Ribat is very nice

Not much to see apart from an old castle kind of building and exciting to get to the top of the tower (Menarah). Nothing else really. The ticket is 7 Dinar plus 1 D for the camera on your shoulder. It is ok if you are in Sousse but I wouldnt drive 2 hours to get there for the Ribat only. It tool us more than 30 minutes to get through the city and even worse on the way back. So try to get in and out before peak hour. Also very busy area in the medina so finding a car park is a challenge. This place has been military site some times in the past probably around the year 800 era. Once you are at the top of the tower an see the roof tops of houses in the neighbourhood but its not that great to see satellite dishes and rusty roofs.

(Translated by Google) For a historic visit to the medina. To visit this old fort you will have to pay 7DT for the entrance and 1 DT to have the right to photograph. Few people in the morning which is nice for the visit. Especially to access the top of the watchtower with its narrow and dark staircase. At the top a view of the medina, the port and the city of Sousse. Many explanatory panels at the entrance on the history of Ribat and that of Sousse in particular. From the tower we overlook the large mosque which is nearby (Original) Pour une visite historique au sein de la médina.

Very busy centre lots of opportunity to explore and buy various items, you need to be firm and consistent with the sellers as they do continually try to sell you things or get you to look in their stall even after purchasing something and this can be overwhelming if not prepared. But some bargains to be had if prepared to venture in. The sky cafe and restaurant is great for not only good food and drink but the view of all the city so a must visit when in Sousse. The area is busy and hectic so be prepared and careful when crossing the road or just having a wander through the streets there are different shops and restaurants with various items, in the suk you can haggle the prices but in the shops these are usually fixed so great for those who just want a few souvenirs without the hassle. It's not a particularly clean city which can be surprising there's just so much rubbish which seems to be everywhere. The pavements and walkways can be difficult to navigate if you have walking difficulties or use any walking aids and in the backstreet you can see the lack of investment and poverty in the area. The rustic nature of this area and the vast numbers of people in this city along with its culture are part of an experience that most would love and enjoy, but if not prepared you can be caught out, surprised and taken advantage of, it was an adventure for me and I'm glad I came but found some aspects of this too much. Whatever you decide enjoy 😁

When you're in these parts, you must visit. To feel the flavors and smells of the Orient. Feel the atmosphere and history. Of course, also for shopping, here is the largest selection, and accordingly the prices are the most favorable, who of course likes to haggle. You can also get here by their city bus or minibus, depending on where your hotel is. My recommendation to visit.

A lively place that's quite bustling. You will have opportunities to take photos, and you will be approached by male and female older folk promoting their family or friend's businesses. Watch out for the cars negotiating the narrow streets

One of the best places to get lost yourself in the labyrinths of old city. The walls and tiny streets will cover you with their secrets and stories, you will feel spirit of old age. Many beautiful houses with their colorful doors to discover. Street cats will protect you against evil eye 🧿. Place to chill out and regenerate your energy

There are small shops so you need to go in the hot early hours. Even if you bargain well, be careful of trades. There are cafes, eating places, historical, old workshops, houses available. There are plenty of cats that are also very nice.

(Translated by Google) Resting with a friend. They were afraid to go to medina, they thought they would pester and grab hold on. Not. Of course they invite, but no one was missing. Better to go in the morning, not so hot. After dinner, in hell. A lot of souvenirs, cookies, dates, bags, stoles, creams. Need to bargain. 2-3 times you can throw. It is better to walk through the shops in the hotel (remember the prices), and then go to the medina. So you will already be guided in value.

A market to haggle. A lot.No women seen in bars, not advised to wear shorts or short sleeves if female. Interesting streets and handicrafts for an afternoon. If you have fab weather, a nice beach/pool and lovely food I'd rather enjoy the hotel grounds.

In the basic a fantastic place to visit. Beautiful location. Unfortunately has the commercial stores with clothing and shoes take it over. There are nearly no more authentical stores left. It is very safe to visit. But always be aware of pick pocketing. Advice take Dinars in stead of Euros and Dollars. The prices are lower.

An incredible middle ages fort inside Sousse Medina, with an impressive tower you can scale to gain breathtaking panoramic views of the city. The Ribat is a warren of levels, rooms and staircases that are fascinating and stunning in their architecture - a small child's dream location for hide and seek, with all of its' hidden nooks and crannies.

This is the best place in Sousse to capture the sunset, especially in December when you can still access the Ribat before the sun actually sets. There is a tower to climb up to get the best views but there is limited or basic information around the rest of the site to explain what you’re looking at

Beautiful, orientalic place with ancient Roman touch, the shopping experience wouldve been better, if you was not getting ripped off constantly by everybody. People will try talk to you to seduce you into their shop, just walk away and ignore, they are all about your euros and dolars

Historic Fort in the heart of Sousse. Offers great views over the medina and city once at the upper levels. There wasn't much information around the Ribat as to it's history and purpose, just at the entrance. You could spend a leisurely 30 minutes looking around but there's not an awful lot to see, hence 3 stars.

  • 4/5 Patrick C. 1 year ago on Google
This is a "must see" visit if you're in Sousse. Watch out for those who walk up to you and tell you they're a cook from your hotel. They'll try to escort you around to various businesses and introduce you as their longtime friends. Never pay full price when you're bargaining.

As a British tourist I was put off by people hassling us on every little alleyway, if they hadn't we would have slowly browsed and looked inside! . It would have been nice to see some price tags! I had some lovely spices and food though. Make sure you haggle as the first price is ridiculously high especially if they see you are a tourist! Go to the indoor food market in the Medina where the locals buy their produce. So cheap and interesting to see! ⚠️Beware of men telling you they are from your hotel and they will show you the best price store or just "come look". Do what YOU want to do and in YOUR own time. Say 'no thank you and walk on'. They didn't hassle us as much as when we were in Mexico though!

(Translated by Google) My family and I were delighted with Medina, though from the part that is in the back next to the grocery market. I liked the communication with the locals, we talked with the traders in the market and in the tea house. We bought some of them, but we didn't go for that, but just wander and see .. There is an archaeological museum in the medina, next to it there are two large shopping centers: Perle Shopping Center and Soula Center. In the latter we purchased a women's bag made of genuine cow leather. So the prices are not cheap, but we bought the model at a discount. More information on my channels in FB and VK.

The abundance of markets and souvenir shops is off the charts. You especially pay attention to the shops, which are also small factories. Products are manufactured and sold here. And you will see for yourself the production process. And buy from a large assortment. I saw how they make mosaics, leather products, carpets, wood and metal crafts.
