Charles Street Meeting House

Tourist attraction β€’ Historic site

πŸ‘πŸ‘ I lived in the steeple for a while in the 70's. There was a hidden door halfway up the staircase to the church worship area on the second floor. I spent the blizzard of 78 there! The one way traffic pattern went the other way on Charles St back in the day.

Worked here when it housed the Unitarian Universalist Church, Gay Community News, and the Meetinghouse Cafe. From 72-74. Wonderful atmosphere, ambience. Gay community dances every Saturday night for quite awhile. The firemen next door were aghast. πŸ˜†πŸŒˆπŸ³οΈβ€πŸŒˆ

Very important historical place that survives as an office building and collection of shops. Sadly, the interior of the church has been lost, but the result is a good example of architectural preservation nonetheless.
