A small but beautiful cathedral. Admission to the cathedral area only in Summer 2023 is €5/person. You can buy tickets to all areas or to just specific areas of the cathedral depending on how much time you have. The ticket office across the Peristyle accepts card payments . Anyone entering the cathedral itself with bare shoulders will be told to cover themselves with a shawl (provided free of charge outside). Allocate 30-45 minutes here at least. Small but beautiful and well worth your time.

(Translated by Google) Very nicely done and the tower is very nice from the outside, but the view from above is not worth seeing and a ticket has to be bought for each room in the church itself. Therefore, it is better to save the money and only admire from the outside. It's not just around the corner, but Rovinji has a fantastic view and costs just 3 euros. Here the whole soon costs 10 euros. You can see the ferry port on one side and the ghetto bunkers of Split on the other.

Not an overly ornate or breathtaking cathedral. However, it has a rich history as it was originally Diocletian's mausoleum, then converted to a cathedral when Christians took refuge inside the palace. If you love history you will enjoy Saint Domnius' Cathedral.

This is definitely a must do in Split. The cathedral is very ornate and nice. Very peaceful. I definitely recommend going to the top of the tower for nice views of Spilt. The crypt is tiny and has a nice statue of mother Mary. Be aware that they are closed to visitors if they have mass etc

From the tower you have a very nice 360 degree view over the old town. We waited about 20 Minutes for the entrance to the tower (it is seperate from the entrance to the cathedral). It does not habe so many steps but the first 50 or so are circa twice the height of normal steps. So it's not so easy for elder people to climb the tower.

Main attraction in Deoclatian Palace. Worth waiting to go up in an adventurous ride that ends with the most beautiful panoramic view above Split historic center.

The line to get in took 20 minutes and be prepared to walk thin, steep stairs upwards for 60 metres to the top. Once there, the 360 degree views of Split from this tower at the centre of Diocletian's Palace are amazing! Highly recommended, for only 30 Croatian Kuna!

Whata fine work! Look for the details. Indeed, this is a majestic legacy. This place definitely should be on your "to do list" in Split. The Bell Tower it offers you amazing views over the Diocletian's "empire". Don't buy a singular ticket, try the ones that offers you multiple permissions( it's cheaper).

(Translated by Google) Cathedral of Saint Dujam in Split. One of the flagship monuments of Split is the Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary, i.e. the Cathedral of St. Dujama (Duje), named after the patron saint of the city. The history of the foundation of the museum. The cathedral was built on the site of the 4th century mausoleum of Emperor Diocletian, who was known for his fierce persecution of Christians. In the 7th century, the body of the emperor was removed from the mausoleum and the building was transformed into a Christian cathedral. The cathedral has retained its original octagonal mausoleum shape with 24 columns surrounding it. The interior of the cathedral has a circular plan with four semicircular and four rectangular niches. Corinthian columns and a frieze depicting the emperor and his wife have also been preserved from the times of Diocletian. In the 13th century, the temple received a carved walnut door frame - the work of Andrij Buvin. They are decorated with scenes from the life of Christ. In the 17th century, a presbytery was added to the eastern side of the cathedral, demolishing its eastern wall and connecting both rooms. Belfry: The Romanesque tower is 61 meters high and is the landmark of the city. Its construction began in the thirteenth century and it lasted nearly 3 centuries. At the foot of the tower you can see two stone statues of lions. From the top of the bell tower, which can be accessed by stairs, there is a beautiful view of the city and Diocletian's Palace. Altars: Inside the cathedral you can admire beautifully decorated altars. On the right side there is an altar dedicated to St. Duje, the city's patron and bishop of nearby Salona (today's Solin), who was martyred during the persecution of Christians during the reign of Diocletian. The vault above the altar is decorated with late Gothic frescoes depicting the four evangelists. The left altar, dedicated to the second patron and martyr - St. Anastasim, comes from the 15th century and is the work of the Croatian architect Juraj Dalmatinec. Sarcophagus of St. Anastasius is decorated with an imposing relief depicting the Flagellation of Christ. Relics of St. Dujams from the 18th century are kept on the altar in the northern niche. Cathedral treasury: Inside the cathedral, in the sacristy, there is a cathedral treasury available to visitors. There you can find many priceless sacred exhibits, such as liturgical vessels made of silver and gold, manuscripts and old prints, liturgical vestments, icons and numerous reliquaries. Useful information : Address: Kraj Svetog Duje 5 Opening hours for visitors: in summer (June-September) from 8:00 to 20:00, on Sundays and public holidays from 12:30 to 18:30. W VII wieku z mauzoleum usunięto ciało cesarza, a budowlę przekształcono w chrześcijańską katedrę. Katedra zachowała, pierwotny ośmiokątny kształt mauzoleum z otaczającymi go 24 kolumnami. W XVII wieku do wschodniego boku katedry dobudowano prezbiterium, burząc jej wschodnią ścianę i łącząc oba pomieszczenia. Dzwonnica : Romańska wieża ma wysokość 61 metrów i stanowi wizytówkę miasta. Jej budowę rozpoczęto w XIII wieku i trwała ona blisko 3 wieki. Lewy ołtarz, poświęcony drugiemu patronowi i męczennikowi – św.

Although it's not cheap to go up to the bell tower and check the cathedral, it's nice to check it out. But if you want to save money, I would say you don't need to go up with paying. There are more beautiful places that you will see for free. If you like the history, go ahead!

One of Europe's oldest and most visited cathedrals. Very stunning. Tickets may be purchased 10 meters away. It is an important aspect of Split's rich history and should not be overlooked. You should go up to the highest to see the panorama views and see the old bell. The Roman emperor Diocletian and his wife Prisca were buried in this cathedral. However, the tomb later became a church and is today known as the world's oldest Catholic cathedral.

To visit the cathedral there is a fee however it is worth it. There are several types of tickets which will give you access to visit the turistic old town sites. I bought the one which combines 5 sites and it costs around 13€. The highlight is the amazing view on the top of the bell tower. The firsts steps are huge so it is not an easy climb. It is a total of 180 steps but totally worth it. Under the church there is also a crypt.

The building that was the mausoleum of Roman Emperor Diocletian is now fully integrated in the cathedral but there are still many traces of the original building to be seen. The interior has a beautiful decorated altar and you can climb the bell tower, via small one way traffic steps, for fine views over the city. You can buy the entrance ticket at the ticket office opposite the church

This is a beautiful historical cathedral in the center of the citadel with sunning architecture. Everything is in very close proximity so be sure to wonder around while you’re there and take in all the wonderful sounds, sights and stores. Beware, this is absolutely a tourist hotspot and therefore not only really, really crowded, but also a hotspot for scammers and pickpockets. Do not let your guard down and you’ll be fine. The only think we would have done differently was to have been there at 7 or 8 in the morning to avoid the crowds and suppressive heat.

This church from the fourth century is a complex having the church, the bell tower and a mausoleum. Regarded as the oldest Catholic cathedral in the world that remains in use in its original structure. Though small compared to other cathedrals, it is an architectural marvel on its own.

Outstanding place.made by the cathedral, the crypt and the tower, with a single ticket you will be able to see Split from several pointa of view, religious, underground and also over the whole city with an outstanding panorama. You may not enter with very tight shorts and with exposed shoulders.

Definitely worth a visit when in Split. It's a major part of Split's rich history, so it shouldn't be missed. The treasury had interesting artifacts and relics as well. It's definitely not as large, nor as grand as the other famous cathedrals in other countries, but still beautiful, nonetheless.

(Translated by Google) The cathedral itself is extremely impressive with its golden decorations, the massive altar and the historical representations and elements. You can take a seat there and take in the historical and magnificent impressions in peace. In terms of the ticket, the bell tower is to be viewed separately from the cathedral, but in my opinion it belongs to it and should definitely be visited as well. The steps at the beginning are very high and strenuous, but in the course of the tower they are replaced by normal high steel stairs. Attention, people with fear of heights need to be overcome here. The view over the city from above is definitely worth it. Be sure to bring a camera and sunglasses. We really enjoyed the visit and would recommend it to anyone looking to explore Split.

Much smaller than you might think before you get to Split and definitely the crowning glory of diocleatian palace. It's also the highest place in the palace still standing. You can buy a multi ticket for 40 kuna to do the cathedral, museum, crypt and Baptistry. The museum is very missable but the rest is quite interesting. You cant go to Split and not go inside. Left it till my last morning in Split before going in and as they say keep the best for last. The tower will be closed I'm told for at least 2 years. The crypt is just a small basement in a circular shape

Beautiful prior tomb of the Roman Emperor Diocletian, built in 295-305 with the rest of his royal retirement fortress. In 1300 the Christians, who he hated, converted it to a cathedral and built a huge bell tower. Take that for suppressing the people Diocletian! It’s the oldest cathedrals in Croatia thanks to this. Stunning interiors and, as we were lucky to be here on the Thursday before Easter we saw the procession going in. See pics and the vid! Defo recommended - top tip. Buy your ticket here and get free access to Jupiter’s temple!

Lovely place. One of the oldest cathedrals in Europe that is open. A beautiful dome. Beautiful frescoes. Worth visiting with a guide. Interesting antique door. Be sure to pay attention to it. an extraordinary symbol of history marked by centuries of war, religious intolerance on one hand and passion on the other, art and sculpting, and the inherent obsession with gold. the door is a marvel by itself. a must visit - go as early as possible to avoid crowds, but if possible, also take a stroll from outside early morning when there's almost no one there.

Great view, worth the trek to the top. Crypt was a let down. Do your research in advance as no signage or historical signs anywhere-

Beautiful exterior but unfortunately we were not able to go into the church itself.

Nice one. Worth visiting as its combined with cathedral, palace and Jupiter temple.

Very nice view from the top but the stairs up are very tiny and old so it’s a hard way.

Beautiful old cathedral. We got there during the rain, and it was time to look at the interior. Inside the church, one could observe many artifacts from completely different times. The view from the tower is not bad, but it was quite windy at the top and we didn't spend much time

The Split Cathedral and other related parts of the area were interesting, beautiful and a nice part of our visit to Split Croatia. Get the ticket that includes all parts of the tour - they have 4 or 5 different types of tickets and it can get confusing but each section only takes a little bit of time to see so see it all! Make sure you retain your ticket - they will check it at each area. My favorite part was the museum - nice and cool with lots of interesting religious (and non) artifacts.

Old and nice cathedral. You can climb up 180 stairs to top of the tower with good view on Split old town city centre.

Very interesting. The tower is difficult to climb until the second level, as the height of each step is greater than normal, and then it gets much easier to the top. Great views of Split.

Small church in the middle of Split. Although it looks big from the outside this church is pretty compact inside. A little over half a dozen pews fit in the nave and a small pipe organ in the corner. There is a small choir that makes the whole church resonate with angelic chants and the organ amplifies the feeling and lifts the spirit. Highly recommend this, and if you’re willing and have the time to participate at mass, do so, it is a great opportunity to observe and learn.

Amazing castle as always this place feels like going back in time. Everything is soo well preserved and maintained. So many shops around and easy to navigate. Highly recommended to visit

A beautiful cathedral that offers stunning views of Split. The stairs on the way to the top of the bell tower can be quite steep, so beware. But the view is definitely worth it.

The ticket office is opposite the main entrance and you can buy various options of historical places to visit depending on you time or preference. We had purple tickets €15 each will allowed us into the 5 main sights. The belltower has good views but the stone steps are unusually high so you need to be fairly fit. None of the attractions are particularly large but very interesting.

One of the best historical places. I would recommend this place. The weather was too hot but it was worth it. And there are no entry fees.

Didn't go inside due to the long wait, but went here during our cruise and it was really cool to see. If you're in the area, you should definitely visit this place. It is usually busy, so get to the lines ahead of time.

Best views of split up there, I was also very intrigued by the stonework on the tower (mind your head up the first set of steps if you're tall!). Entry is by tickets purchased just in front of the cathedral. If your shoulders are uncovered, staff will give you something to cover them so that you can enter, so that is not a problem.

You can buy tickets in front of the cathedral but after 11 its really busy because of all the tourism. Would recommend buying tickets around 9. Because we where students we got 50% off the original price. After we got the tickets we went to the treasury, bell tower and catherdral and there wer no lines for any of these activities. In the treasury we where able to look and read about the history of the city. In the bell tower we where able to go all the way to the top and we made some beautifull pictures of the view. The cathedral was still in shape and we where able to see some old objects used back in the day. Overall a great experience!

Beautiful cathedral. Highly reccomend visiting. A good tip is to make sure shoulders are covered (I was given a shawl as not aware).

The Tower is amazing and well worth a visit. Definitely not one to tey if you have vertigo or any dodgy knee joints! The lower sections are polished marble (over many years of use) and with no handrails at that point.

The green ticket that grants access to the cathedral and four other locations is well worth the money. The bell tower was also fantastic and we really enjoyed the tiny little Baptistry with all its subtly embedded lore and symbolism.

Very picturesque location in the centre of the old Palace. Some amazing restaurants and bars tucked away within the old town.

The cathedral is in the palace grounds and a combo ticket includes access to the cathedral and the tower. The tower gives a great view of the city and the access is narrow and on a not so crowded day is a good way to climb up and enjoy the views.

The cathedral was awesome , we went during off season and thankfully it was not crowded. We could walk through comfortably and we were very happy to be there.
