Do not let this lobby fool you. They have a good looking lobby with a bar in it, but the costumer service and rooms are terrible. The staff make you feel like you’re interrupting their day if you ask for anything at all. The rooms are dirty, old, and the air conditioning does not work well at all. We moved rooms our first night because the room was so hot. The room they moved us to was just as bad. On top of that we found old fast food trash under our couch and the carpet is covered in stains. The toilet isn’t attached to the floor and the shower head isn’t attached to the wall. I’ve had to stay here for work in the past and it was exactly the same. Please do yourself a favor and do not stay here!

Rooms have no safe for personal jewelry. No refrigerators in room. The wash basin has a crack completely through. Shower wall had a long crack completely through. No notification of must schedule for rooms to have maid service! Bathing and washing items were of inadequate size for an adult usage. Bedding comforter and sheets had tags at the top. Making me redo the bedding. Before I could use it properly. Not what I was expecting on the first thing in looking at the bed. Carpets were smelly. Wallpaper was separating at the seams. Restaurant at the hotel does not accommodate early morning events. Wall areas have concrete cracks. Making it unsafe to walk on. Basically the hotel is being run down and charging patrons for a quality hotel at rundown hotel. Motel 6 would be better based on what you are offering guests for the dollars you want. I would not recommend this place based on the dollars you are asking for. Great location! Just very badly in need of serious work both inside and outside.

Probably one of the better hotels in town. Plenty of parking, lobby is spacious and functional. Hotel staff are well trained, friendly and know how to treat a guest. The rooms are SPACIOUS and the beds are super comfortable. A/c temperature needs a little tweaking to be accurate, but that didn’t ruin our stay at all. Lobby could do with a lipstick remodel, but wasn’t ugly and didn’t feel any more like a time-warp than the rest of this part of America (lol). If you’re in town and need a place to stay, I’d recommend this place!

Great location for shows and concerts. Hot water didn't work at all when I was there. They claimed maintenance was working on it. Never fixed unfortunately. The staff was very friendly. The room was tidy. I believe it's about time for new carpet though. I'd probably stay there again if I'm ever in the area again for a show.

We were there using the conference area for a high school reunion. The new look of UP is cool. Bathrooms clean .. convention area clean. Parking is great. I wish UP could be what it once was though. You can't beat the location..plenty of parking for big events but it seems management only wants UP to remain mediocre. The food was absolutely terrible. The only thing good was the gooey cake. Whoever owns UP should upgrade the quality big time! Maybe put in a chic new locally owned restaurant and get the word out. It's so close to the college that labor force shouldn't be an issue. I hear the rooms are not in good shape so get smart management!! You have a goldmine here. It used to be a happening place! Maybe look towards the older population to draw into a cool restaurant with a jazz band or blues band. Idk. Something needs to change or say goodbye to a long standing hotel and conference center.

For starters reception noticed I paid the normal rate but saw I had military ID so they refunded the difference. The room was clean and the pillows were nice and firm most of the time I go into a hotel and the pillows are too fluffy and soft I end up needing to stack 2-3 pillows to have nice support. The check out time of 1200 is great too allowed me to actually sleep in after a long drive. Also pet friendly! Overall great experience if I'm in the area again I know where I will be staying.

Booked a hotel room for my 40 hour road trip on 12/11/23. I decided on this hotel cause it looked clean and more accommodating than a motel. But also so I could get breakfast in the morning and make less stops on my trip. When checking in, I double checked about the breakfast buffet in the morning and I was given a free buffet coupon which was nice, until I woke up the next morning to use it and there was no buffet! Says only Sundays and Saturdays yet the staff gave me a coupon to use on a Tuesday. Tried to ask questions at the front desk but just received “nope no breakfast today” and then was walked away from. Also when I got to my room there was a half eaten bagel on the bathroom sink. I guess that was the “breakfast buffet”?

This place reminded me of an older Embassy Suites/Renaissance hotel. The rooms were great and very clean. Everything was really nice, but it would have been good if they served breakfast during the week. Also, they had complimentary coffee in the small cafe style shop, but it was at the back, so I paid for a specialty coffee before realizing I could have had a regular coffee like I really wanted.

I stayed on 10/23 in room 306. Upon my departure I stripped my bed to assist housekeeping & was horrified to find blood on the mattress cover. Immediately I went to the front desk and eventually was able to chat with a manager. Unfortunately I do not remember his name, but he was the least bit helpful. I felt as though I was bothering him with my concern. I don’t think it takes much to explain why finding blood in a bed I had just slept in is so horrifying. I had to request a full refund which he assured me he would take care of & call me to confirm everything. It’s been over 24 hours, I have not received a call- it’s actually been nearly impossible to get in touch with anyone & after 3 phone calls and a voicemail I finally got someone to answer today only to be told they would pass my message on (sorry for the run on sentence). I see that there is a lot of response to reviews & I hope that this matter can get sorted out & nobody has to deal with this in the future. Thanks.

The check-in: the check-in was a bit mixed. We arrived a little after 3 p.m. and we were told that the housekeeping staff had yet to clear our room. Which we made the best of it. By going to a CVS (just around the corner). When we returned, it was as smooth as can be. The rooms: we got the executive suite. Which was nicely appointed and was pretty standard. Having our grandkids along the separate room was great. The amenities: we used both the exercise room and both pools since the weather was nice. The exercise room was crowded (Saturday night- go figure) the indoor pool was really fun. It's 3 to 5.5 feet deep. And since we had the whole pool to ourselves, it was great; everyone else was in the outdoor pool. The service: we needed extra pillows and blankets for the pullout sofa. They had everything to us without any delays. The location: it's centrally located, and everything is within several blocks for us. We have been to Springfield several times, and we really enjoyed this place most so far.

The lobby is nice and the people are friendly, but the rooms are freaking gross and you couldn't pay me to stay here again. Even if you only plan on being in the room long enough to sleep, you'll feel miserable. The carpet is disgusting. The bathrooms are disgusting. The old furniture is disgusting. The nasty old curtains are disgusting. The room amenities are seriously lacking. Honestly, I wondered if we'd make it out of without bed bugs. The best things about this place is the lobby is cool (apparently that's where they spent all their money) and it's located downtown. But for the price, you'd be better off staying at Best Western and paying slightly more for an Uber. By the end of my stay, I felt I completely overpaid for the room. The room quality is what I'd expect of a Days Inn. So yeah, I won't be staying here again unless they completely renovate. This was a huge disappointment of a hotel.

The location was good, i liked how safe it felt. Was near downtown lots of people walking around. I was on the first floor, the room looked old and our dates the carpet had stains all over the place, the AC was not working that well all the staff seemed very nice which makes it better. Outside had this cool little outdoor fireplace which felt nice during the night.

Lobby was nice and check-in was easy. The location was good for what we were visiting town for as well. But we've got mostly complaints after that, which is why I'm writing a review (when I normally don't). Rooms are pretty outdated. There are hotel rooms elsewhere in Springfield for roughly the same price (2-star hotels, even) that are more up-to-date than here. Shower was not clean. We were put in a wheelchair-accessible room and the shower did not retain the water, so the water pooled onto the bathroom floor, which I'd consider hazardous. Speaking of the bathroom, we were only given a single bar of soap to share for showers and also for general hand-washing. Bring your own shampoo, conditioner, and soap because your room may be lacking. The room sorely lacks power outlets, and the ones we found may not be easy to reach. We did find a power strip behind the nightstand but it looks like it hadn't been touched in years. Covered in dirt. We were told the pool would have towels, but there were none. The front desk was nearby however, so that wasn't much of an inconvenience, but worth noting since most of our time at the hotel had been unpleasant. The indoor pool was freezing cold, and I generally don't mind a cool pool. It was unbearable for me, I couldn't get beyond waist deep for two minutes before I had to exit. We're also not sure if the water in that pool is treated, considering there was no smell or feel of chlorine in the water. The breakfast isn't free, which I was expecting anyway, but the price they'd expect you to pay for their breakfast was a bit high considering there are free breakfasts at other hotels I've stayed at that looked better. The cafe they have near the front desk had only one person working on a weekend morning, so we didn't bother until we didn't see a line. We bought an iced tea, and the associate gave us a plastic cup with ice water in it and placed a tea bag into it. That isn't tea, it's cold water with a tea bag floating in it. I know this hotel is generally on the cheaper end in the area so you should expect to get what you pay for, but there are others in the area that are better quality for the same price. Don't settle for here because it's the closest one to the MSU campus.

It’s…fine. Good location and price. Lobby is a decent place to hang out. Rooms were clean but extremely dated. Almost no outlets and the ones there were so loose the plug in my charger kept falling out of the wall. It would take so little expense and effort to make that better I’m not sure why a hotel that pretends to be good for business travelers wouldn’t fix that situation. Bathroom with slick tub and no mat is a safety issue for an elderly traveler.

There is a lot to unpack for my experience. First off, we arrived at 9AM on Friday because we paid for early check-in. We finally got our rooms at 5:45PM. The first receptionist we spoke to at 9AM was rude and unhelpful. We asked again at noon. Then, we asked that she call us to let us know when our room was ready around 1:30PM. We never received a call and finally asked at 5:45PM, there was a different receptionist and she had no clue we asked to be called. We got to our rooms and they were fine, decent rooms. My daughter had to share a bed however because there were no sheets on the pull out couch. We wanted breakfast but found out it was $15 a plate buffet. Which was too much in our opinion. Since we were going to be here all weekend. Come Sunday, we have someone knock on our door and ask if we were checking out. Even though we had paid for late check out. It has been a terrible experience. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

A fine hotel, nothing special. Solid 90s decor and well in need of updating. It was clean and smelled fresh but in a word was “tired.” Some staff were nice and accommodating, others were stressed and rude. I stayed for two nights to attend a 500 person conference hosted at this property. Both days the restaurant was closed, and there was one poor soul left to tend the small coffee shop all day. In the evenings when the coffee shop was closed, there was one bartender who had a limited menu, and they were out of most things except attitude. Because of the food shortage during a large conference many had to venture out. The bartender was aggressive in running folks out because outside food wasn’t allowed. One evening while playing a board game he mistook the player pieces for candy and asked us to leave. Management needs to work on recruiting and retaining service-friendly staff and work on soft skills training. They should also better anticipate staffing levels to correctly handle the needs of conference visitors. I would think twice before hosting a conference here. Or at least ensure there is a commitment to better care for the needs of attendees.

Strong musty moldy smell in room. Carpet stained and dirty. Checked out after a few hours due to health concerns over poor air quality in room. I worked at this hotel in the 80s when it was in it's heyday and was quite shocked by the state of disrepair in the room. Many better options nearby. Sad.

Mary Kay ladies stayed here for convention. They had classroom space available for our very large group, and it was located across from the Expo Center where the main event was located. The restaurant had a great breakfast bar, and did a great job keeping up with the demands of hundreds of women! The rooms were nice, clean. I was especially grateful for the shuttle because some in our group were disabled and couldn't walk back and forth from the Expo Center. I didn't like waiting for 30 minutes or more in line to use the only 2 elevators in the hotel, but I'm told that's mostly due to the high number of ladies arriving/leaving all at the same time. Overall, it was a great place to rest and refresh while being in a fun but exhausting event!

It's a big place, and I was there for a concert. Very clean and staff was helpful. The event room we were in was very nice, the choir had about 50 people in it plus over 300 guests. There was still plenty of room for even more and equipment if needed. Hotel staff were helpful in getting us where we needed to be on time!

Stayed here for work and the doors did not close all the way. I didn’t double check that the door was all the way closed because it looked like it was shut. Someone came in the morning and stole one of my flight bags with $700 of personal items while I was in the shower. I asked the front desk to help and they were no help and didn’t provide security footage. I have been calling through out the day and no answer. I have filed a police report. The exact same thing happened on the 6th floor with another crew same time in the morning. Our flight attendants didn’t feel safe and we booked a new hotel for tonight.

Had a wonderful experience. Ozark Mountain Parrot Heads Christmas party was held in the Colorado room and the staff that waited on us did an awesome job! Thank you all. The room we stayed in was nice and comfy. I agree with others, a little outdated. However, overall a good experience.

I've stayed here several times. My daughter loves the elevator. I stayed yesterday and had to leave a $75 deposit. This was the first time I had had to. It's quite frustrating since I checked out more than 18 hrs ago and my deposit has still not been cancelled or refunded to my card.

Amazing place and a great stay! Really enjoyed myself. Clean rooms and facility, staff was friendly and always welcoming. Pricing was fair. My only wish is that they had a hot tub. Indoor swimming pool area was top notch along with the exercise room. And I’d be spoiled if there was a microwave and small refrigerator, but hey that’s just being a little picky. Looking forward to my next visit.

The hotel itself was an acceptable experience. Staff was amazing, but the state of the hotel itself is very much showing a lack of care. Had some basic things in our room that were in bad shape: The sink drain plug didn’t work, our toilet seemed to be constantly filling and slowly draining itself causing the room to be humid, and the desk was extremely wobbly. We had no fridge in our room, be prepared. There were a few visible cracks in the shower tiling, but I couldn’t understand why we had zero toilet paper in our unit upon check-in. The front desk had plenty for us, but I felt there was a lack of attention to have to get it from the front desk minutes after we checked in at 11PM. The bed and pillows were comfortable and the door locked, so the basics were covered. Every door in this hotel squeaks. I wish there was more than 2 luggage carts for a hotel this size, because everyone was following us around waiting for us to be done so they could steal it. The spa is no longer there as it was in recent years, but the coffee shop is quaint and welcoming. Complimentary buffet breakfast on Saturday/Sunday.

I stayed at University Plaza Hotel for a Choral Music Conference July 2023. After arriving around 1:30pm I was told that check in was not permitted prior to 4pm despite the fact that the block of rooms for the conference was booked months in advance. This left dozens of us to scramble into the public restroom (with wet floors) near the lobby and change into formal attire after a long drive. The room was adequate, albeit a bit dated. The description indicated there would be a refrigerator, but no such luck. It had a pod coffee maker, that was helpful. Next time I will stay at a Hampton or equivalent and drive to the conference.

Honestly, this is one of my favorite hotels as an overnight... And I am a flight attendant, so what I look for is specific. I think it's very clean and in good shape, although I've heard crew say they think it's "old"... But I disagree. If you have a problem with your room, the staff is always willing to accommodate... So here we go... My opinion as a flight attendant who's been here many times and once spent four days here when the covid lock downs started... Hotel style... I think the expression for it is atrium-style. Basically all the rooms face each other inside the hotel. There is a water feature on the ground floor that creates a white noise effect, which I believe is super necessary for this kind of hotel to drown out noise... Especially when a passle of teen athletes are on the premises. The rooms are big and the air conditioners are quiet. I've had rooms on all four sides of this hotel and I enjoyed all of the views. I like the side with the elevators best though because you can see some gorgeous victorian houses. I mean GORGEOUS! When they do breakfast, it's about average, but there's a coffee shop/goodie bar where you can get something a bit more gourmet. I think everything is in really good condition and I think the hotel is just very pretty. I have never actually gone into the gym, but it looks nice when I walk by it. I don't remember ever seeing the pool, but I've never gone looking for IT. Actually now that I think about, I believe I caught a glimpse of it from our crew room once, and if I'm right, it's outdoors... But double check with the staff in case I'm wrong. I like all of the hotel staff they've had over the past couple years and never had a problem with any of them, including the shuttle drivers who are always nice and chatty and willing to give food suggestions. Which brings me to the last bit... What it's close to. I always walk the half mile (10 minutes or so) to the nearest grocery center where there is a McDonald's, a steak N shake, a Chipotle and some other stuff I never paid attention to. If you walk the opposite direction from that, you're on the tip of their downtown area and there's a ton of restaurants down that way the crews rave about. I'm kind of a same-old-same-old type, so usually I only go to the grocery store when I'm there, otherwise I ubereats everything. I'm trying to think of more, but that's basically it. It's not your average everyday hotel... It's more unique, which is what I like about it. Definitely worth staying at if you are in this area.

Edit: still have the charge and no refund from hotel even. Hidden charges. Was told to pay a $75 incidental fee when checking in. Payed and was told I’d be refunded the whole fee after check out. Checked out the next morning and asked about the refund and was told I’d receive my refund in 2-5 business days. A few days later I get refunded about $50 and charged the rest. I called to asked about the charge and if there was a reason why I was charged and the lady now claims there is a charge for up keep in the incidental deposit that no one mentioned or had any paperwork on. Decent room terrible water pressure

Reserved a king room for a quick two-day getaway with my wife (the first time in 5 years without the kids). Room received was a two double bed room. Inquired with front desk immediately. Was told by front desk that there were no king rooms available. Was told a manager was going to call that night to discuss options. No call was received. Discussed with front desk the following morning. They offered a $15/night credit. I would suggest you stay elsewhere.

No air conditioning all night. Coffee shop closed at 730 am which was especially disappointing after a night of sleeping in sweat. $230 for one room for one nite. Wanted to sleep in but at 5 am bc we were so hot. Wouldn’t recommend.

No hot water! Never got above lukewarm. We changed rooms. No different. They made excuses, and one front desk person thought she should argue with us instead of apologizing. We will NEVER stay there again. This issue is obviously a money saving decision by owner Atrium Hotels. Sadly, they also own The Chateau in Branson which has also deteriorated since their purchase.

We where able to get TWO adjoining rooms, one with a king and the other with two queens, which was perfect for us........$160 total with all fees and taxes. We where a little hesitant because of the location and because it seemed to be a little old. But we were pleasantly surprised. We noticed that a lot of flight crews from the airlines were staying there. we enjoyed our stay!

I wasn't impressed. The first thing I noticed was the disheveled wrinkled blouse unkempt reception person. I'm sorry but not taking pride in a professional appearance shows me you don't take pride in your work. Clearly I was correct. The first room I was given smiled musty and moldy. The hotel is very damp. The lobby area is cool but that's about it. Beds are hard. Toiletries are cheapest as cheap can be. My work is 100% travel and I stay in hotels all over the world. I have seen the products and am familiar with the big chain vendors that sell toiletries to hotels. The brand they use is one of the lowest priced lowest quality ones. Decor is dated. Fitness centre is small and has older equipment. They did have a cable machine which was nice. I didn't try the restaurant so can't comment on that. I won't stay there again as it's not worth the price.

Nice enough hotel. The location is great, being right downtown. The restaurant on site seems to be permanently closed, which is a bummer because there aren't many restaurant choices in the area. Though the Italian place across the street is very good. The rooms are standard fare. Hot water, a working TV, and free coffee. What else could a person need?
