Thoroughly enjoy visiting the locks here and see the ships passing by. During my 5 year tenure in Panama and seeing the Panama Canal at close proximity Welland canal looks small but my fascination for ships takes me there. The viewing gallery is located at lock number 7 and the friendly staff can guide you through the history and ship timings if necessary.

Easy way to see the many ships of our great waters. Both past and if you keep your eyes open sometimes future. Ranging from private, commercial and even military depending on the day.

I saw it on TV. How ships traverse the locks. Lot more than meets the eye goes into it!

Beautiful view. It's a great experience to watch the bridge go up for the ship to pass through while the vehicles wait till the bridge comes down

I love watching the ships go through the Welland Canal. Definitely hit up the Lock 3 Viewing Centre in St. Catharines. Equally impressive are the Twin Locks in Thorold. Seeing the ships go through Locks 4 to 6 in such a short distance is really something to see.

I visit almost daily. The ships that pass through provide vicarious travel to places we can never visit, from Lake Superior to European countries in need of Canada's abundance. And the Welland Canal is a historical wonder; engineered in the early to mid 1800s, renewed and expanded as demand increased. It provides a route for $Billions of goods to reach markets to satisfy a continually evolving world economy.

We love walking here along the path. Then to the park. There is even a set of lookout stairs to practice the heel position going up and down with the dogs!

😠 I’d give it zero if I could. I’ve been sitting here for an hour. For the first 35 minutes while it stood open holding up traffic, no boats even came by. One finally did, and now we’ve been sitting here another 20 minutes and the bridge has yet to close. There are no alternative routes and even if th...
