July 9, 2022 Excellent place to enjoy either alone or with family. Based on my experience as a family with 2 children, this place was phenomenal. It was our first time visiting the place and we had an incredible day, although I must mention that parking is a problem. Below I detail about the place. - Parking: It seems that it is made to make fines because you can pay a maximum of 3 hours and if you do not return before 3 hours there is already a security person ready to fine you. We had planned to stay all day so we had to set the alarm to come back every 3 hours to pay. (This is not just in this place but in various places in Ontario) . There is a parking permit but for residents in the area. . Free off-site parking, check their website . Machine does NOT accept DEBIT or VISA DEBIT cards. . $3 per hour For more help call to Customer Inquires - Carousel: It is beautiful and has the whole story in frames with photos that are hung on the wall. It is in good condition and transports you to times of yore. . 5 cents a ride . Donations are accepted . Staff will not make change - Beach area: It was clean Sand is nice and soft Unguarded waterfront - Picnic table pavillion rental or book, check their website - Family washroom available - Ice cream, hot dog and more. - Volleyball nets - Lighthouses (2) Overall great place.

It is quiet and scenic beach where people can walk and feel the cool air near the water.

During the summer there’s plenty going on. The beach is clean, the water has lots of sandbars and perfect for kids to enjoy. Now the pier is finished a stroll to the end is a relaxing way to finish off the day. Even in Winter it’s a good excuse to get out with the dog.

Great place to hang out with the family. Large play ground, public washrooms, lots of parking, pretty good sized sandy beach, mature trees behind, fairly clean water. Nice pier as well. Nice place to spend a few hours.

Took a drive to Port Dalhusie April 29th. Weather was dismal but it was great to walk around ..not busy at all. There is a large parking lot and parking is $3 hr with 3hr max. The Pier itself is beautiful and is around 0.5km walk one way woth lots of seatung areas in yhd middle if you need to rest. There is a beach off the park with change rooms and bathrooms. There are picnic areas as well. There are lots of trails that extend to about 10km with lots of parks to go through. This would be a great place to be all day..great restaurants and coffee Cafe about 10min walk from parking lot . Also Lakeside Park Carousel will open for summer. A must visit ! Can't wait till then 🙂

Disappointed that there's no sign yet showing the name change to Neil Peart Pavilion, but as a huge Rush fan I had to come see this piece of his history.

Good walk out the pier, it is longer than expected. Wide new smooth walkway all the way out. Nice sandy beach with grassy areas to lay out and picnic. The old Carroseel is always a treat for young and old. Public wash / change rooms available on site. Lots of pay parking. $3 per hour.

Such a blessing to be able to walk this path, such a beautiful park. Please don't ruin it by building all over it. We need to keep this sacred

This beach is always clean and the people are courteous and friendly. There are some sand banks so you have some distance before the water gets too deep. There is a full washroom and change rooms, as well as an outdoor shower to rinse off.

Nice park except there should be a sign at the entrance to the parking lot that it's a pay lot. They like to give out $50 tickets if you don't see the meters. Also the bugs almost carried us away.

Park will be beautiful again, pier is under construction to be completed by spring 2021, we needed to get out for a walk and hadn't been to Port for awhile. Unfortunately condos are being built which changes the look but the beach area is looking great, new pavillion, pic is the original, new pier, cant wait till it is done, great sunsets

This park is beautiful! It's a perfect spot for the whole family. You can have a relaxing time, or you can be active and have lots of fun. I enjoy going to the beach with my daughter, there's a lot of space for her to run, play and swim. And in the same area you can find a variety of places to eat, have a drink or enjoy a coffee.

  • 5/5 Amanda H. 3 years ago on Google
We absolutely love this park (my daughter loves the sand). Ample green space, a wonderful and toddler friendly modern playground with rubber turf making it safer. A nice beach for a picnic with a nice view, lighthouse included! Have returned twice in the past month from Cambridge!

I visited Lakeside Park a few weeks ago with my grandson. Since Summer is over, it was great and not too crowded. There is a beautiful beach here. There were some people in the water even though it is October. Most people just relaxing on the beach or they bring their own lawn chairs. We enjoyed a lovely walk along the water's edge, together with our little dog Jerry. The parking area has been cut in half due to major reconstruction of the pier. Bonus parking is free. We took a kite and tried to fly it as a windy day. Will try again when its more windy. We returned later the same day to see the sunset which is a popular thing to do. Reminds me of cottage days years ago. Always a nice escape from the City life and very conveniently located in Port Dalhousie. The 100 year old carousel is presently closed for the Season. I believe the children's playground is off limits due to covid, as is the picnic structure.

  • 4/5 Alysha D. 3 years ago on Google
The beach is really nice and there is a section of trees there too providing nice shade. There are public washrooms. They are monitoring parking and checking ID to make sure you're a resident to enter. The carousel is closed (not sure if its temporary or permanent) there was also construction nearby so it can be fairly noisy. Also there was a sign saying dogs must be on leash (fantastic that they allow dog there)

Went fishing beautiful water way clear water full of fish had a great day

  • 4/5 Karissa A. 4 years ago on Google
A wonderful location that most St. Catharines locals have visited too many times to count. The carousel is a unique asset, and the children's playground is great. The lighthouses and piers are picturesque. With the increase of quality stores and cafes within walking distance, it's becoming even more of a destination. The flooding and bacteria in the water has put a huge damper on the park this summer (2019). Currently the pier is completely flooded, and the vast majority of the beach is underwater. I still visit regularly with my dog, but never to go swimming, which is a shame.

Beach area was closed due to the flooding. Access could still be made, but "at your own risk" type of thing. The grounds were very soggy just walking to the beach area.Traffic can be an issue with the down town district just to the south of the beach/park entrance.

We love going to Lakkeside Park. It's clean and fun. Will go back to a five star rating once all of the construction is done. We miss the carousel, but understand it's closed due to Covid.

Very nice beach and park area to have picnics with family and friends. Take a stroll down the long pier and watch the various boats come and go or just people watch! Water was shallow with many sand bars. Not sure if this park is dog friendly however many people brought their dogs and it didn't bother me at all. Many happy dogs around. Parking was $3 per hour which was decent and extendable after the 3hr limit expires. Would definitely visit again.

I love Lakeside Park. It has a beautiful beach, changing rooms clean and modern, a 5 cent carrousel, and the cute village of Port Dalhousie just metres away. A historic lighthouse is at the end of the pier! Plenty of parking!

Enjoyed the carousel and the play ground the food vendor with ice cream was also great. The parking was a bit crazy and completely packed. Best to go first thing in the morning to avoid the rush and don't forget to feed the meter or you will get a ticket. Area was clean ans family friendly.

Great little spot! It’s a nice place to visit. The beautiful long piers. The beach. The friendly people. Also on Tuesday evenings there is live music with a handful of food trucks. It was a fantastic experience!

  • 4/5 Daniel K. 1 year ago on Google
My son and I went for the carousel and happily came upon the beach. We had an impromptu swim and dried off with the breeze. For such a busy spot this was a great spot to jump in and enjoy the water. The depth is quite shallow and extends quite far out! Great for kids.

  • 4/5 Aly K. 1 year ago on Google
I've been coming here for years. It's always been one of my favourite places to visit. It's like a little get away close to home. They've made major changes in the past few years. New condos going up, new pier, and of course now they're charging for parking when it's always been free.

  • 5/5 Ken H. 10 months ago on Google
What a little paradise for kids of all ages. Be sure to check out the antique Merry Go Round and learn about the history of this real treasure. The beach is perfect for kids. Lots of sand and shallow entrance. A great way to spend the morning or afternoon.

Now that the construction of the pier has been completed last year,it's renovation is amazing. More parking spaces and more walkways and alongside the walkways is better lighting to enjoy the walk at night before park closes for the day at 9 pm. The Lakeside Carousel is a delight for all ages, closed for the winter season, will open in the Spring.

We absolutely love this park/Beach. We've been coming here annually. The kids enjoy the 5 cent carousel and the playground. This time they even had a cute beach shop with food and ice cream. When we eventually got to the beach, we had a blast despite the murky waters. We walked the pier, took in the views. This place guarantees a beautiful and memorable summer day!

  • 4/5 Danny C. 9 months ago on Google
A very nice beach that was not crowded. Lots of matured big trees to provide shade. The wide and long sandy beach was relatively clean but unfortunately the water was a little murky due to algae all along the shore. Otherwise it was a perfect family picnic spot or sun bathing. There was also a carousel and ice cream kiosk. There were outside showers for washing up that is next to the washroom for changing. There was a large parking lot and payment for tickets can be made either cash or credit card.

  • 5/5 Linda H. 8 months ago on Google
It's a nice park for family/kids. It even has a carousel for kids/adults & only 5 cents per ride + donation (optional). You can stay late to watch the sun set🌇
