I couldn't be happier since joining St.Catharines Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. The instruction from Professor Vince Mattei is second to none. Teaching through concepts and nuance, rather than simply memorizing curriculum, seems to bring out the best in everyone and our abilities to retain and develop. The atmosphere amongst the students/athletes is upbeat, encouraging and most importantly welcoming. I would recommend this academy and the team of instructors to anyone interested in learning BJJ.

Early this year, I started training BJJ at St. Catharines Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in the Friday night women's only class. Why St. Catharines BJJ? From day one, I was addicted! All Jiu-Jitsu classes are led by incredible professors - Andrew, Chad, Rich, Tim and Vince. I always feel safe and supported in this sport/art I love. I'm forever grateful for all the support from my fellow professors and coaches - Rob, Rich, Craig and teammates. BJJ is challenging and so much fun! The community within the gym has great people who make great training partners and friends. Everyone here cares and wants to see you succeed. Classes offered are; no gi, gi fundamentals, gi advanced, open mats gi and no gi. I recommend checking out our GI fundamentals class, women's class or an open mat! One team. One Family.

Both of my kids have been training with Professor Vince for 6 years years. It has helped with with their self esteem and confidence. The professor and his coaches are always welcoming to new students and make you feel like a part of the family.

My daughter loves going to the point where she has actually asked me to go even when they were closed. I have had her in dance, gymnastics all different kinds of camps and this is the first time she has ever asked too go and the coaches are fantastic. So thank you for having such a great little club.

Some of the greatest men I've come to know are spending their spare time reaching out to the youth of the community. They go above and beyond for each student to provide a safe and positive atmosphere. Any child or adult under the tutelage of this facility will be better for it.

Having had the opportunity to study a number of different martial arts over the years, I can say unequivocally that St. Catharines Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is an excellent gym for children and adults. Professor Vince Mattei is one of the most senior ranking Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu practitioners in Ontario, and has established himself as a trainer of champions. A number of Professor Mattei’s students have made the podium at the local, Provincial, and National level. Moreover, three of Professor Mattei’s students have medaled at the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu World Championships in Gi and No Gi (two of the three becoming World Champions in Gi and No Gi respectively). While Professor Mattei sets a very high standard for his students, the atmosphere at St. Catharines Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is easily one of the most inclusive learning environments around. Professor Mattei is a strong advocate of partnering senior ranking students with junior students, and the transfer of knowledge is further enhanced through dynamic drills and scrimmaging. St. Catharines Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu truly offers something for everyone, whether it is competition, self-defense, or general health and wellness. Amazing facility, coaches, and classes. I have been training under Professor Vince Mattei for over 4 years and I have enjoyed every minute of it. This is hands down the best BJJ academy in the Niagara Region! I'd recommend this to anyone who is looking to start training BJJ or looking to switch gyms!

Authentic BJJ with direct lineage to Brazil, great knowledge, great teachers especially professor Vince - We drive our son from out of town (Beamsville) to train there and we would drive farther if we had to. Professor Vince and all the coaches are skilled, welcoming and create a wonderful learning atmosphere. Our son has never loved ANY sport this much, and he is growing in leaps and bounds under the skillful experienced teaching. As parents it's wonderful to see the growing confidence this builds, the community atmosphere that St. Catharines BJJ inspires and the sportsmanlike principles being taught in the centre.
