Cathcart Park

Campground

๐Ÿ‘ Very quiet campground with beautiful views of the St Clair River. One thing campers registering should be aware of. The office/store closes at 4 o'clock (not sure if hours may change in summer months) so you must have reservations if arriving after 4. If the store is closed upon arrival you pull in... Very quiet campground with beautiful views of the St Clair River. One thing campers registering should be aware of. The office/store closes at 4 o'clock (not sure if hours may change in summer months) so you must have reservations if arriving after 4. If the store is closed upon arrival you pull into your campsite and than register the next day. The hours and how to register was not explained to us when making reservations. The store/office hours are not posted at the campground. Also our campsite was a 50 amp site and we were told when booking that there were 30 to 50 amp adapters available at the office to borrow, however when arriving on a Friday night after work found the office closed and had to hurry to unhook and get to a store to purchase one. I had called the office and left voicemail with my cell phone number and asked for the staff to call when the office opened the next day however my call was not returned. This all could have been avoided if there was proper communication from the staff when booking. Other than the confusion upon arrival we had a very enjoyable stay.

Quiet. Peaceful. Not activity oriented. Just camping out. Nice clean shower/ bathroom. Polite staff. Watch shore birds.

This year was the first year after 25 years of camping there I felt pressured. The park changed a rule never emailed or informed me. Blamed it on previous manager and never took no ownership or responsibility to fix or compensate a loyal, non confrontational happy camper. Also it had downed poured rain the night before all day and night and the check out day was very difficult to pack and dry up somethingโ€™s before taking off. Three times, three different ppl rushed and put even more pressure on me. Kept telling me someone else had the sight. Yet I find that hard to believe because this has never ever been the case. They made sure to make my stay a very uncomfortable, stay. As well as speaking to Michelle. Awful at customer service, no help at all. Just agreeing with me and not helping at all to fix any of the problem. Really too bad. After talking to all my fellow campers in the park that are seasonal they said many awful changes to the park as well. Really to bad on a park I bragged about and was happy to show family and friends. Donโ€™t expect too much anymore from this park. The cleaning is half fast, no garbages around at each site and hard even to find a garbage, no friendly staff like previous too busy sitting in the office. And speed bumps that are unnecessary holy not that high. And the pavilion. That was the first time it was so dirty and again no garbages. Honestly what does the five staff workers do. Hair in the shower drains.

I felt that my stay at cathcart was uneventful, during my recent stay, staff were unfriendly, and rude they did not have a smile, or diid not say hello, or good morning. So there was no garbage bin in the area, the pivillion was dirty and again no garbage bins near the pavillon. The bath rooms were cleaned half fast and the floors were soaked and wet to the point that it look like puddles, and nearly wiped out a few times, even though they had a wet floor sign. The ramp was not clean at all, there was garbage, gunshells and seaweed near the ramp were they lunch there boats and again no garbage bins in the area. Staff should be more concerned about keeping the grounds clean and being of service's to the guest.
