Loved it ! Food lovely ! Great staff. Only thing it didn't get a five four is they squashed us up into the window, we were three and someone was on the other table. The restaurant was empty? Other than that it was amazing.

I enjoyed a lovely meal here. The place is a bit hidden but close to the city centre. Cosy and a good place to go with family or friends. Portions are very generous and staff friendly. Prices are reasonable, toilets are clean, no parking on site but walking distance from the restaurant. I think I had the best minestrone here.

This is a relaxing comfortable restaurant, very friendly competent staff. Good food and reasonable prices, if you enjoy Italian food top marks. It is very handy for the Venue Victoria Hall which is why I chose it.

We chose this restaurant as we were staying close by at the Best Western Hotel, and reviews seemed good. Booked online and revived a timely confirmation by text message - very quick and easy. The restaurant is very tastefully decorated and the ambience is lovely. Staff also very welcoming and friendly! Menu is extensive with lots of choice; I’m a huge pasta lover and it took me a while to decide on what I wanted. I opted for the calamari starter and OH had the deep fried mozzarella. Calamari arrived hot and good portion size with wonderful dip and side salad. It was however a little rubbery and I suspect was frozen rather than fresh. Fried mozzarella was delicious! For mains I had the linguine salmone and OH has the chorizo calzone. The salmon was divine! So much flavour and the pasta was perfectly cooked in a sauce that was light and balanced. My OH’s calzone was absolutely MASSIVE! He said it was the best calzone he’s ever had - the pasty was amazing, very light. Because we were both so full we shared dessert of profiteroles, and these were delicious too. Quite a large portion with plenty of cream and chocolate sauce; delicious! Prices are great value for money! I would highly recommend this restaurant; a great find!

We'd read good reviews about this place and, despite it being a 30 minute drive, it sounded a good restaurant. When we got there it was virtually empty which, although it was a Monday, seemed very odd when nearly all other Italian restaurants were closed on that day. We both order Fillet steak with Gorgonzole, only to be told five minutes later they'd run out. So we ordered sirloin steak, with side order of blue cheese sauce. It was OK, but nowhere near as good as a fillet. When the bill came we'd been charged more than we would have paid for the fillet, which we pointed out. We were told that was because Fillet with gorgonzola was a standard meal, yet the fillet steak needed the blue cheese sauce as an extra. It still seemed a bit odd that it came to so much that we asked to see the menu to check the prices. We'd been charged £5 each for blue cheese sauce when menu said £3. Apparently they had just changed menu prices on the system but not updated the menus - though nothing else on our bill seemed to have changed. All in all it was a disappointing meal, with poor customer service. It wasn't bad, but average at best.

Amazing place ! Great to go for dinner or lunch. The food gets to you quickly and tastes great. The service is very friendly and helpful. They've got the best coffee in England by far!

Sunday 23.01.22-Staff were polite and the atmosphere was pleasant. The place itself seemed a little on the small side and my pizza was late, late to the extent that most of my friends were halfway finished with their meal. There was also a discrepancy when it came to paying the bill as we had been charged for drinks that apparently we had not ordered. Yet we were still required to pay the bill in full. Won't be returning that's for sure.

Charged us a fortune as we went there on Christmas Day, service was incredibly slow, the main was supposed to be a mushroom risotto - it wasn’t made of risotto rice and there was no mushroom in it. My dessert should have been a vegan chocolate cake and they brought chocolate cupcakes.

This restaurant has a lovely layout and lovely decor. The staff are friendly. However, the food was not good. First of all the lasagna was definitely warmed up and was not made fresh. The deep fried mozzarella was cold in the middle. Also on top of that, there were pest control plugs that were placed on top of the booths. Clearly this place has problems with rats or mice. Not good. Pity.

We enjoyed a meal here prior to going to the Theatre. We shared a Bruschetta starter and both had risotto main course. The service was timely and the food excellent. Portions were great and the food really tasty. We will definitely be back as it was very good value for money. We went mainly because it was close to the theatre, but we will definitely return.

Went for Xmas day,£65 pp.food was lovely. Starters and dessert portions were OK but mains were inadequate. Tiny portion of veg and I mean Tiny. Some of us were still hungry after 3 courses .that should never happen especially on Xmas day.how much would it cost the kitchen to put veg on your Xmas lunch plate ? We all said we will be dining elsewhere next year.

Early evening in the week, pre-theatre menu. Restaurant was really busy with tables upstairs and down occupied. The staff were were working hard providing an efficient service. The food is of a very good standard with plenty of choice. Highly recommend. We were sitting close to the open kitchen and I was blown away by how well organised the area was. Rarely seen by diners, the work ethic was impressive. A massive thank you to the team.

Amazing gem of a restaurant! Came here for my birthday meal tonight and absolutely will visit again. The whole experience was wonderful from start to finish. The staff are attentive but not overbearing, the food is delicious with perfect portions, and the ambience in this restaurant is just perfect. If you need somewhere with that more upmarket feel without upmarket prices, then Portofino is definitely the place for you. You will be made to feel welcome, you won't be rushed and you will be absolutely satisfied; no matter what you order you will not be disappointed. We cannot wait to come back!

Had a meal here for a birthday. Not busy when we were there but the restaurant still had a pleasant atmosphere. Staff were helpful and attentive and never rushed us. And we were the last in on a quiet night! Food was great and the drinks were reasonable too. Go back? Yes.

Kinda disappointed. The white wine was warm and flat like is opened and left open long time ago. No lemon in coke, but other customer has. Waited around 45 minutes for the food and close to half n' hour just for 3 drinks. Food was "okay". Chips is salty.. very salty... Portions is like a kids menu but the price is way overpriced. Close to £19.00 for 1 slice of chicken breast and 20 piece ovecooked, over salted chips. No music at all, no dessert menu. Sorry, but I'm not going there anymore.

Had a great experience with my wife, brother in law and his wife. The starters were to die for and the mains were perfect. We sat in the window, but to be honest when the table next to us was filled it did suddenly feel a little tight. That was only a small issue though. We will definitely go again if we head that way. Thanks for a great evening.

Fantastic place for family dinner. There is very delicious pasta and antipasti. Looks like it's very busy on weekends, so the prebook is recommended.

A bit disappointing really, quite a thick pizza base. Nothing to complain about but I've had better pizza from a local pub that doesn't advertise itself as "fine dining". Adequate but nothing exciting. Also, give it a wide berth if you don't like balsamic vinegar...

I really enjoyed my lunch at Portofino's. The fillet steak was really tender and the vegetables were cooked perfectly. My friend had the canneloni and garlic bread which she said was delicious. The service was excellent and I can definitely recommend this restaurant to everyone.
