I really enjoyed the food here. The ingredients tasted fresh. The jalapenos poppers were crunchy but not oily. The tacos had generous fillings and a good amount of slaw. It was a shame that I only discovered the hot sauces when I was halfway through my last taco!

Great little hidden taco/nachos gem of a place in the centre of town. FOOD: Simple, short menu. The majority of which is gluten free. Some vegan and vegetarian options exist too. Reasonably priced meals in good serving sizes. The quality of meat on the pulled beef nachos was soooo good! Staff are happy to tailor to suit you too. PARKING: Free on street parking ACCESSIBILITY: Fine for those with prams/wheelchairs... Outside seating area even allows for those with dogs. Nearby shared toilet (with other nearby cafes in complex) was clean. STAFF: Lovely, bubbly staff. Happy to help out with suggestions. OVERALL: Would recommend and go again.

My wife and I recently dropped in to Chihuahua Taqueria for a last minute lunch and boy where we glad we did. We were greeted by a very friendly young man who ran us through the options and took our cocktail order. Drinks came out fast and were delicious. The tacos weren’t far behind. They are big, $10 each or 2 for $19 is great value as they are bursting with fresh and beautifully cooked ingredients and packed full! My personal favourite was the calamari, I’ve never had a calamari taco but this thing was amazing. Calamari so tender someone without teeth could eat this taco. 😂 The battered fish and beef were also delicious but the calamari was out of this world. We were also given three bottles of sauces ranging from mild to hot that are all made in store. My favourite was the yellow (hot) pineapple habanero. Delicious. I highly recommend the tacos here, the nachos we saw on other tables also looked great. Amazing food and cocktails and friendly helpful staff.

This has to be THE best Mexican food I have ever had. We ordered the Quesadilla, Fish Taco and the Jalapeño Poppers. The Quesadilla is a MUST try. Just so juicy and brilliant! Pair this with a Jarritos (lime or pineapple) ⭐️ There’s limited seating and it’s really busy. So might want to go early. Anyways if you are in Byron 100% try this place.

How good! We had Nachos, fish tacos, jalapeño poppers and corn. Was very yummy! And the bottle shop is only next door to grab yourself a sol. We were stuffed and only spent $40-50 dollars. Would recommend coming here!

Had dinner here on a visit to Byron bay. I ordered the jelepeno poppers, 2 battered fish tacos, 2 fish tacos and 2 calamari tacos. The battered was the favourite in the selection however the wife thinks the calamari was the best. The jalapeños poppers were very good, very good kick with acidity and spice. The tacos were good but I think it needs some kick, they were very generous with the pickled toppings which is delicious but it felt like all the sauce was just mayo. I liked it but it just needed a bit more spice or at least an option on the table. Overall the food was good not amazing but very good and worth a visit

Amazing Tacos! Lots to choose from & so fresh. (The Haloumi Taco is to die for!) Lovely little bar inside also.

Amongst the glut of places to eat in Byron, Chihuahua stands apart. It’s a bit off the Main Street, so a bit more chill. Got a park directly outside (on NYE!!) It has an open front with louvre windows that catches a refreshing breeze. The decor is basic yet comfy. The background music was doof-ish but subdued, The food is so wonderfully suited to the climate and the drink menu perfectly matched. Even a simple beef taco with classic margarita is freshly made, beautifully presented and super delish! Go further for amazing local fish or pulled pork tacos with house cocktails and the day floats away in a blissful combo of delight. Almost forgot to mention the sides - the Mexico City fries were so good! The staff were very warm, friendly and accomodating. Not always possible to get food, service and atmosphere so well balanced in Byron (especially the service). Definitely going back!

We came for dinner having read the great reviews. We weren't disappointed. The tacos were delicious. The battered fish a stand out. And those fries 😍 The margaritas were excellent and we had our first spicy margarita 🌶️ A great night and highly recommended.

Very stylish place, with super friendly staff! They use the freshest ingredients and have delicious sauces for you to have with your meals at the table. The food was all delicious and looked simply amazing. Big portions and rich with flavour. Will definitely come back when in Byron Bay!!!

Loved the food and service here so came back the next day! Highly recommend the chicken tacos with their homemade sauces and tortilla chips with guacamole! The mezcal cocktail with spiced salt rim was delicious

Everything we had was delicious - the fries were melt in your mouth great and crispy, the nachos (substituted with chicken instead of beef) is the standard I now refer to! Still drooling 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽

Friendly staff and great atmosphere. But I had hoped for even more flavours, especially on the beef taco. The portions are also big, we took 2x of each taco. It’s too much food.

Amazing Mexican Food. We had the nachos, battered fish taco and chicken taco. Flavours were great and ingredients tasted fresh. Fish was crispy, light, flaky and melted in your mouth. Nachos were massive, had plenty of toppings and the brisket meat was tender. Our only flaw was there wasn’t enough cheese on the nachos. Service was great as staff were friendly and food came out quick.

We visited this restaurant for lunch as a group during the ANZAC weekend. This was the first place we had a meal after arriving at Byron Bay. All the items we had were splendid- well presented and delicious. The service was friendly and prompt. The restaurant was busy, which is not surprising.

Best meal we have had in Bryon Bay. We had fish, beef and halloumi tacos and Mexican city fries. Great, well balanced flavours that were delicious and light. Friendly and fast service.

Little place but it delivered big. The jalapeño poppers are the best I’ve had. Tacos are good size with generous fillings and taste great! Every one of our party of 5 friends enjoyed the food. No wonder Chris Hemsworth gets take away from here.

I feel home when I turn the corner and see the wonderful people at Chihuahua! The food is my favourite in Byron and arguably my favourite tacos full stop. And it's the people here who make it six or seven star! Love that the meat and fish is all fresh and local. Tastes better!Viva Chihuahua!

First visit to Byron, & Chihuahua is the first place we ate at. They've set the bar high! How can fries taste so good??? & then the Tacos. We ordered the fish (red emperor today) calamari & beef brisket. They were all awesome. Such great flavours. Have to say though, we all thought the Calamari was the best. Great vibe, awesome staff, simple menu, but so worth it.

Went here for a quick lunch stop but ended up staying way more than we wanted because of their delicious food. Loved their jalapeños poppers but the fish tacos felt a bit off. The quesadillas were really nice and so was the calamari. We’d definitely come by again for a nice refreshing stop.

Amazing food and service! The jalapeno poppers are a must if you want something with a kick. The tacos are excellent, the fish ones being my favourite. Plenty of parking and no booking required.
