Wat Maechon

Tourist attraction Historical landmark

👍👍 This is my favourite Buddha statue of all the Park...i don't know why. I came back here after 12 years and it is still beautiful, even though the trees beside are no more here...pics today and 12 year before

Quite interesting temple with a water spring inside. As with many other places in Sukhothai - preservation is very very lackluster.

The temple is in Sukothai, it is in ruins but has a beautiful white sitting Buddha image, on a raised platform. One can spend some time meditating there.

There's a restored peaceful meditative buddha in bhumi sparsha posture among the ruins of the ancient monastery which is impressive.

Wat Mae Chon (วัดแม่โจน) (unknown age) This small temple is located immediately to the north of the old San Luang Gate. It is relatively unremarkable apart from the seated Buddha image which is in a good position to catch the first rays of the rising sun. The image, fashioned in the familiar Maravijaya pose (subduing Mara) sits upon a rectangular viharn base measuring 7.5 x 11.5 m. Immediately to the west are the remains of three small chedi and an old well lined with slate.

👍👍 Amazing temple ruins north of the main park. There is an additional entrance fee however. A must visit.
