A wonderful opportunity to experience the culture up close. The extensive area can also be explored by bike, which is very relaxed. There are guided tours or you can just go it alone, walk around and take photos. Admission is 100 b., the bike costs 10 b. extra, so a very fair price. You can hire bikes here in advance. The remaining buildings give an idea of what an important cultural center used to be here and are in many cases still very well preserved.

This site is best viewed by hiring either a bike or golf cart. There are also group tours available. You can also walk around the park. The relics are well preserved, and the site is deserving of its UNESCO status. There are no stores or food shops inside the park - best to bring your own water and food. My wife and I spent 2 hours inside the park, and will return again tomorrow. The museum is worth visiting too - it is located not far from the entry to the historic park.

Worth of a visit. Admission fee is 100 bahts per person. Walking inside is fine, but for those who don’t wanna walk, there is bike rental shop right beside the entrance. Only 40 bahts, and plus 10 bahts for the bike to go in the park.

We really enjoyed the beauty, calm and history of this splendid park. FREE for walk-in guests thru Jan 5! - Bathrooms are available in the park - If you enjoying walking it is totally doable by foot - Go early if you want to avoid the scorching sun and have it to yourself - Turtles, catfish, dogs, bird life - enjoy the nature too Enjoy 😍

Very beautiful to see, it’s was so peaceful. We visited day time and late afternoon for sunset. Lots of local school trips the day we went which was nice to see, they were all so friendly towards us and polite. Would recommend to cycle through as it’s so much easier, extra fee but not much at all so definitely do that. Star taken off because you pay the entrance fee for this and we assumed you could get into the other 2 sites but you have to pay again for each one. We thought it was quite steep.

Absolutely loved this place. Lots of different temples and stupas from the old city all within walking distance of each other. There are also options of bicycles or electric buggies, if you want to get around more easily. The place is clean and well maintained and, even though quite busy when we visited, it was peaceful. Well definitely be visiting again to explore further!

Beautiful and well kept heritage park ruined by the staff that check the tickets and sell the hop on-hop off tram tickets who refused to even look at my full Thai ID card which was properly accepted to buy the entrance tickets to the very same park by different staff only metres away. Anyone that does not look Thai is asked to pay 6 times the local rate for the tram, even with proper full Thai ID cards that are accepted at all the Sukhothai heritage parks. Great way to promote tourism guys. Luckily I found it is very easy to walk the whole park.

Beautiful historic park and the area is beautifully demarcated with all the greenery and lightning. Entry is 100 baht per person, 10 baht for the bicycle and renting of bicycle costs 30baht. Its recommended to go around 3pm so that you can see the sunset. After sunset it gets really dark so you can’t see everything.

What a place to visit. Must visit in Thailand. UNESCO site. Photo speaks itself. Park your car by the entrance. Too big place to walk around. Better to rent a bicycle or take a tour cart service to see. Some hotel provide free bike rental.

Ancient mysterious sacred ruins, love it. Well not so mysterious but the vibe is there. It's a huge complex so by the end I wished I paid for the buggy to carry me and my family around. Go early before it gets too hot and hope to miss the big school groups. Exploring this just makes you wonder if there is a modern version of it in Thailand somewhere.

If you’re in Sukhothai, you’re probably here to see the historical park. The park itself is large, but you can easily get round on a bike (extra 10 baht to bring one in). The remains of the great city are a fantastic sight and one of the most impressive things to see in Thailand.

The Sukhothai Historical Park ruins are one of Thailand's most impressive World Heritage sites. The park includes the remains of 21 historical sites and four large ponds within the old walls, with an additional 70 sites within a 5km radius. The ruins are divided into five zones; the central, northern, and have a 100B (foreign national) admission fee.

Worth to stop on the way between Bangkok and the North! A less touristic area with this beautiful city in ruins and temples and so much more to discover Perfect to take your time, exploring, taking pictures and learn more about the ancient Thai Culture 😃 feels so good to walk around and imagining how life was at that time. A day trip is enough to see everything!

Very beautiful and peaceful place to spend some time. The roads are excellent and there are a number of cycle lanes. It's not too busy with traffic so it's very pleasant to bike aroun There are a lot of sites free to visit as well as sites to pay entrance.

""Sukhothai Historical Park covers the ruins of Sukhothai, literally 'dawn of happiness', capital of the Sukhothai Kingdom in the 13th and 14th centuries, in north central Thailand. It is near the city of Sukhothai, capital of Sukhothai Province. .. "

Very impressive UNESCO site. First of all, I recommend that you rent a bicycle from one of the many shops near the park entrance. You will then have easier access to the temples inside and outside the park. Cost is just 30 thb regardless of how long you have the bike, and you then pay an additional 10 thb entry fee for the bicycle. I spent about 90 minutes inside the park. Did not spend any time looking for souvenirs. The temples are in very good condition, considering their age, and especially when compared to the condition of the temples of Sukhothai's little sister to the south in Kamphaeng Phet. However due to the frenetic setting of Sukhothai's historic park, set among busy streets and with tons of tourists and tacky souvenir shops, I can honestly say that I enjoyed the peaceful relaxed experience touring the temple ruins in Kamphaeng Phet much more than Sukhothai.

It's one of the historically most important places of Thailand, so you probably have to visit once you are in this area. The park is quite well managed with asphalt roads connecting all the temples inside. This somehow destroyed the atmosphere a bit for me, as there are the hop on hop off busses driving through. You can either use then, rent a bicycle or golf cart or you might also walk the round (what I did). It is some distance but I prefer it to experience the whole area better instead of just being dropped of at every photo opportunity.

Nice historical park where you can see the ruins of antient Sukhothai city during their kingdom in Thailand. It's a must see if you go to this antient capital of Thailand. The area is fairly big as it was the "city center" at the time. There you can see antient temples and Buddha statutes still kept. The entrance fee is 100thb per person. No higher fees for foreigners. It's the same for everyone. You can rent a bycicle across the road and pay 10thb to cycle inside the park. There's also golf type buggies for 200thb/hour and pay 50thb to drive it inside the park. I opted for the latter as felt tired from the long trip. There's the market towards the outside of the park on the left side. There you can find vendors for souvenirs and restaurants for drinks which are quite pricey 20thb compared to the convenience store at 5-7thb, but I suppose that's how they make their business. I found the experience pleasant, but have to say that it can use better keeping both of the nature areas and of the ruins.

Beautiful place; in my opinion better than ayutthaya. There are much less tourists, its more centralized than ayutthaya which makes it easier to get around and harder to get lost. Its split up into 5 zones which cost 100 baht each + 10 baht if you have a bicycle. In one day i managed to get to the central zone and the north zone, but i was staying in the new city so i had a 12 km bike back and was tired after about 4 hours of biking. However you could probably explore all the zones in 2 days if you stay in the old city. If you like ancient cities this is the perfect place for you. I wouldnt recommend staying in the old city unless you are a very strong biker or want to pay 150 baht for a ride because its 12km to the old city and back and i almost got heatstroke on my way there

Such a magnificent park! A must-see for the visiting tourist, Thai citizen,or expat resident. An absolutely remarkable complex within old city walls and just outside that includes hundreds of years of architectural evolution of sacred buildings, the most recent about 700 years old. You can go it on your own (most hotels offer bicycles or they can easily be rented), or you can hire a guide and an electric tuk tuk for an even better overview.

Difficult to put to words, the effect of the presence and weight of history. I went alone, first thing in the morning, and simply wandered. I now somewhat wish I'd signed on for a guided tour, though I like to move at my own pace. It was totally worth the trip, having booked a nearby room for a night and making the detour on a rental car drive from Chiang Mai to Bangkok. That Google Maps sent me on a wonderfully scenic drive through the countryside was an unexpected bonus.

It’s a big historical site with some temple remains and Buddha statues. There are boards showing how the area looked like hundred of years ago and how it was built part by part by different ppl. Worth visiting and recommend to come by a bike tour.

(Translated by Google) It is another place in Sukhothai province that tourists should not miss. Because it is an ancient archaeological site More importantly, it has been restored to its integrity. Making it a perfect beauty that is a world heritage site of Thailand Suitable for viewing and studying the history of Thailand that is still restored for children to admire. The inside of the park can not bring cars, except bicycles, entrance fee 20 baht, rental bicycles in front of the park 20, bicycle entrance to the park 10 baht and there is also a tram for tourists as well. But don't know the price rate Because I saw that there was a guide as well Come now, even though it's afternoon, the weather isn't very hot. Sukhothai is a great historical site to visit as an alternative (or addition) to touring the better-known Ayutthaya. The setting of the Sukhothai Historical Park is very peaceful and less crowded than Ayutthaya, but still offers a glimpse into the amazingly vast empire of ancient Siam. The best way to see the temple ruins is to rent a bike and start exploring. There are some other stunning additional sites outside of the main park area to visit. If you're able to spend more than 1 day, it's worth traveling 60km north to add a stop at Sukhothai province's other ancient city, Si Satchanalai.

Beautiful mix of history and nature. What a peaceful, interesting place. Riding a bike to hop from temple to temple is a great experience. It is a shame that the explanations are each temple is so little, though.

The park is beautiful and well maintained. The temples are beautiful and give it a historical feeling to it. I recommend booking a tuk-tuk in advance, cycling around the park can be hard due to the heat and there can be quite some distance between sites.

Beautiful place to ride a bike or walk or run around with many beautiful relics of the past. I do wish they keep more big trees covering the tracks though since it’s extremely hot during the afternoon. They offer electric buggy to save you from the heat!

Second time visiting 10 years apart. Just a fantastic area to explore. You can rent an electric car to drive around from the south-east entrance fire ~250b per hour which is great to save your legs and also from the heat

  • 5/5 Andrea R. 1 year ago on Google
Beautiful archeological site. I personally like Ayutthaya more, but Sukhotai definitely had its charm. There is no comprehensive ticket any more, so each area's entrance fee is 100 baht ( 10 more for bike ). Sukhotai is much older, and you can feel it while walking in the park. Renting a bike is highly recommended since the whole area is pretty big and ethe highlights are scattered around and not that accessible just walking ( unless you plan to stay more days )

I visited the Sukho thai temple area on a long weekend because of a public holiday. The temple ground contains several ruins but most of them are well destroyed. Pros 1. It could be a fun time with kids or family depending on the weather. 2. The temples are actually ruins but preserved well. 3. There are several eateries with food and soft drink options. 4. I used a free parking on-site. 5. There are several rental options for battery operated golf cars, retro styled cars, bicycles and other battery operated vehicles. Cons 1. The temple ground at Ayutthaya is far bigger and mesmerizing comparatively. 2. The town does not have many attractions. 3. It is far (4+ hours) from Bangkok.

Great place for sight seeing if you are interested in historical places. There are many amazing antcient remains. It's quite wild area, but you can bike a bicycle around the historical park. I went there several times, but it's crowed in Loy-Kratong Festival because here is origin of this festival. Nevertheless, you shouldn't miss it!

A great heritage site to learn about Thai history. The site comprises many temples. To travel around the huge site, you can ride a bicycle or rent an electric golf cart with or without a chauffeur. I like Si-chum Temple. It was assumed that the temple was built in the era of King Ram Khamhaeng the Great, or more than 700 years ago. You should have at least about 2 hours to visit about 6 or 7 highlighted temples in the area. You can park your car in a car park in front of the Historical Park or on the roadside. In my view, there are plenty space around the site to park cars even though we went there on a long holiday in Thailand.

This is a must do historical site to visit in Thailand . So if Sutothai is in your plans .then do go .. Walking around would be around 5 hours but if you are on a time schedule .then rent a bicycle around ...thats the ideal way ;) .Or if you want a crash course tour and photo opps then rent a golf buggy with or without driver and that way you will see the highlights in around 1 hour ;) Also advise to take an umbrella for either too hot or raining hard ,)

It was a fantastic experience We went for the candle festival of loy krathong which was amazing ,then spent a day exploring all other temples with a hired scooter and stayed at sukhothai city resort which is in among the historical park ,such a great experience, rich with culture.its really easy to travel to as the train from Bangkok to Chiang Mai stops at phitsanulok and a short bus brings you to sukhothai,so easy to add to add to a holiday route ,it's busy at loy krathong as it's the origin place of the festival but the shows and candle lighting are beautiful ,it's also equally worth a visit outside this occasion as the scenic temples are more quiet then.

One of the most stunning complexes of temples I've visited. Many different transport options such as rent an e car or get a bicycle. Cool in the shade, places to buy water and food. Some beautiful architecture and differing styles also.

  • 5/5 D N. 3 years ago on Google
Beautiful. Feels like you have travelled back in time. It can get really hot, so don't forget to carry an umbrella or a cap. You can also hire an electric buggy for about 230 baht/hour or a bicycle for 30baht. There is an entry fee of 100 baht for foreigners and kids below 10y old is free. There are about 2 to 3 eating places inside the park at the entrance itself. Once you go inside there is nothing to buy so don't forget to carry your water bottle. Carry your camera for loads of pics. These pics are for the central zone of the park.

(Translated by Google) A big one because with several areas, full of temples and fantastic monuments. The heat is surreal, take plenty of water, as much water as you drink will be little, go for me. Rss The park can be known for biking or tuk tuk, I had the experience of doing it by bicycle, which is demotivating just the heat, but it was incredible. Rss O parque pode ser conhecido por bike ou de tuk tuk, tive a experiência de fazê-lo de bicicleta o que desmotiva é apenas o calor, no mais foi incrível.

A UNESCO historical heritage site in Sukhothai old town. Easy access, low ticket fare, hop-on hop-off bus, bicycles, golf cars in services. Unforgettable scenic, clean site and well managed. What more you can ask for? Only one con for me is the official map. It's too hard to understand where you are.

4pm to 8pm is the perfect time for visiting. Good for both cycling and walking. People hanging out by the pond where you can see sunset perfectly.
