Doing my research I had seen that there were a few options for cookery courses in Antigua but I chose Cuscun as they are a local family who supports local producers - where as some of the more famous ones aren't. Very happy as it was a truly wonderful and authentic local experience. We had a market tour where we sampled local fruits and purchased the ingredients from local growers. Their house is just a few minutes ride from the Antigua market and the kitchen is on the roof with wonderful views of the volcano. We made chicken pepian, toastadas with guacamole and plantain con frijoles y chocolate. All washed down with lots of ice cold local beer! We prepared, cooked and ate together with Joaquin and his family - chatting away! Highly recommend!

Excellent experience! Joaquin was a great host with a big smile. I learned a lot about Guatemalan cuisine, culture and traditions. And not to mention the amazing view on the rooftop terrace where we had our lunch.

A fantastic and worthwhile experience in Antigua. You join a family in their home, mother + daughters demonstrate while an English speaker talks you through what you cook. We made three dishes (starter, main and dessert) and enjoyed a variety of drinks. Would recommend highly.

One of the best experiences of our entire trip! The rooftop is stunning, the food was amazing, and the guides were so helpful and great. It’s pretty much impossible to find Guatemalan food like this in a restaurant here in Antigua. We will be back!

this entire experience was phenomenal. loved having pampa show me around the market and i got to try delicious produce and culture through the various vendors. we then made it to the cooking school and we were able to make such delicious, authentic food from the heart and get to know each other through it. i couldn’t recommend this experience for a food lover any more! run don’t walk :)

I took a cooking class here and it was fantastic. We did a market tour before the class. Pampa was an excellent guide and we learned so much. Our instructor Dario was knowledgeable and personable. The setting for the class was on a rooftop terrace and the view was stunning. I am vegan and they were happy to accommodate this. The food was delicious as was the company. Thank you Cuscun!

I took the class alone and there was 2 other people with me. Pampa and Joaquin were great hosts and taught us to cook a delicious meal. I took the market tour first which was very interesting. Pampa purchased different Guatemalan fruit for us to try before cooking our meal. You definitely should do this when you are visiting Guatemala. I can't wait to get home and cook this meal for my family and friends.

Recommend the evening street food tour. It was a great opportunity to see another part of Antigua. The guide was knowledgeable about not only the food but also Guatemala.

Such a fun activity for our visit to Antigua. Transportation to & from was provided, and the entire evening we were learning about different foods & Guatemalan culture! Cannot recommend this enough! We did the market tour as well which was fun to walk through and see all of the different foods & items available!

My sister and I did a cooking class with Cuscun and it was the best! There was another big group who joined, but that only made the experience better. Pampa and Dario were personable and patient. Everything was well organized and the space was beautiful. We drank wine (that was included with the experience) while we cooked. The food was delicious and everyone was super knowledgeable about Guatemalan food and culture. I highly recommend this experience!!

Wonderful, wonderful experience. I'm traveling solo and knew NOTHING about Guatemalan food, so figured this would be the best way to learn! I did a marker tour with Pampa who taught me so much and Guatemala and the market. I would have definitely been overwhelmed going alone, it's massive. He was super personable and was patient with my questions. The cooking class was fun and delicious and informative and I was so glad to be able to learn from locals. Highly recommend!

An amazing experience! We cooked the best food that I've had in Guatemala! A great atmosphere, wonderful hosts (Darilo & Milton), and I learned so much.

The best cooking class experience we've had, out of multiple worldwide. From the pickup to drop off, outstanding setting (rooftop indoor/outdoor kitchen and dining area with 360 degree views) to fresh food and a full meal with outstanding hosts, this is a must-do in Antigua. Relaxed but thorough instruction, we prepared beverages, appetizers, and a traditional Guatemalan meal. I can't wait to do more with this group. Special kudos to the chef and our guide/translator: they made this experience exceptional.

We had a wonderful evening cooking with everyone! We learned so much about traditional recipes and the culture in Guatemala. It was a relaxing and fun filled learning environment out in the open kitchen on the rooftop where we could watch the sun set as we cooked. This was easily a highlight of our trip!

What a day!!! Joaquín and Ale were so hospitable and incredibly friendly. The food we made (tostadas, Pepillan, and a plantain/chocolate/bean pudding) was delicious, as was the wine and quetzalteca. Joaquín was incredibly passionate about the dish and explained every step and the history of the food very clearly. We would recommend to anyone (and we have!). Thank you Cuscun (and Lucas!!) for a great day.

Yesterday my wife and I had a private Cooking Class with Cuscun. Everything was excellently organized and a lot of fun. Everyone made us very comfortable and the food was delicious. We also talked about Guatemala and a lot more. Couldn’t be more happy, thank you! If you are in Antigua, we strongly suggest you to book with them!
