Utter
neglect
of
patients
at
Surrey
Memorial
Hospital
Here's
my
experience:
On
Wednesday,
August
18,
2021,
I
went
for
something
I
needed
help
with.
5:15
PM-
I
was
registered
and
asked
to
wait
in
the
outer
waiting
room
which
was
100%
full
6:40
PM
-A
patient
who
couldn't
walk
properly,
was
made
to
stand
against
the
wall
as
there
was
no
chair
available
to
sit
7:05
PM
-Visited
washroom,
no
lights
in
the
washroom,
A
young
patient
entered
the
washroom
who
seemed
to
be
very
sick,
and
throwing
up,
so
I
hurriedly
got
out
of
the
washroom
7:10
PM
-
A
patient
sat
on
the
floor
as
he
was
tired
and
there
was
no
empty
chair
7:40
PM
-Inspected
the
the
hallway
attached
to
the
outer
waiting
room.
It
was
fully
occupied
by
patients,
many
of
them
were
standing
7:50
PM-
One
old
female
patient
had
mental
issues.
She
would
get
from
her
seat
again
and
again
for
a
long
time.
It
didn't
occur
to
anybody
to
let
her
see
doctor
on
priority
basis
so
that
she
could
go
home
8:10
PM-
I
was
called
for
Blood
pressure
check
up.
It
came
out
very
high.
I
asked
if
I
could
get
some
medicine
to
lower
my
BP,
but
I
was
denied
and
told
that
as
long
as
I
didn't
had
chest
pains,
I
would
be
all
right
8:20
PM-
Came
back
to
wait
in
the
outer
waiting
room
9:30
PM
-Went
to
Inner
waiting
room
11:
59
PM-
I
asked
doctor
to
see
me
as
it
was
getting
difficult
for
me
to
sit
with
mask
on
00:30
AM
-Moved
to
the
Hallway
where
doctors
see
patients,
my
blood
pressure
was
checked,
was
still
very
high.
01:30
AM-A
patient
sitting
near
me
told
me
that
she
had
come
to
the
hospital
at
3
PM
02:
10
AM
-My
needed
procedure
was
done,
which
took
2-3
minutes
only
02:15
AM-
Left
the
hospital.
There
was
no
buses
running
at
that
time,
I
took
taxi
to
go
home
I
spent
9
hours
in
the
hospital.
The
patient
who
had
arrived
at
3
PM
,
was
still
waiting
for
the
doctor,
she
might
have
left
hospital
at
3
AM,
after
spending
12
hours
in
the
hospital
Note:
Based
on
my
experience,
it
used
to
be
maximum
4
hour
waiting
in
Summer,
and
12
hours
in
the
Winter
(Flue
season),
but
12
hours
in
August,
and
during
pandemic,
it's
a
crime.
Poor
patients
have
to
keep
masks
on
for
all
these
hours,
and
those
who
leave
hospital
after
midnight,
have
to
take
taxi
to
go
home.
In
short:
No
body
cares
for
patients'
time.
No
body
cares
that
patients
may
feel
hungry
after
waiting
for
long
hours.
No
body
cares
how
much
the
patients
have
to
spend
on
parking
or
taxi
fare
while
returning
to
their
homes.
No
body
cares
if
after
reaching
home
at
2,
3,
or
4
AM
how
the
patients
can
go
at
work
at
9
AM.
All
staff
is
hard
working
and
serving
the
patients
with
a
positive
attitude.
It's
the
management
who's
responsible
for
this
chaos.
At
a
minimum
they
should:
1.
More
doctors
on
duty
2.
Nurses
should
be
working
8-hour
shifts,
not
12-hour
3.
There
should
be
at
least
2
departments
for
out-patients-
one
General,
and
other

On
August
20,
2021
I
wanted
to
talk
to
Victoria
Lee,
CEO
of
Fraser
Health
Authority,
but
her
assistant
didn't
let
me.
The
doctor
who
saw
me
failed
to
write
a
prescription
for
a
serious
infection
I
was
suffering
from.
