UpdateNov2020: 1001 Steps has been closed all year due Covid-19, despite research that clearly shows outside transmission is very rare. In 3500 super-spreader events, only 1or2 were outdoors. (Covid is airborne and levels increase in enclosed spaces.) Please UPVOTE if you support a petition requesting that essential nature access routes be opened. eg At a minimum, signage could say: due Covid-19, doing laps is no longer allowed, these steps are for beach access. That would be cautious but reasonable. Leaving the steps locked indefinitely is NOT reasonable.

my husband and his friend + baby in a backpack went here to do a grouse grind style trail/steps. it wasn't a disappointment for them to find it too easy. not at all 1001 steps towards the beach. you can see the beach shoreline really near, not at all like grouse grind, more like the one white stairways near deer lake. i agree with another reviewer saying it's more like 230 steps. any kid/adult can do it. i am 34months pregnant and they said i could have probably walked down easily. then probably took more time to go back up. the entrance area does not have dedicated parking. so pls be mindful of where you park since it's a neighborhood area. lots of dogs walk by here as well and kids too since the playground is also near. coffee shops are also near here. i would definitely come back here again to actually do it when when im still pregnant..for fun. hehe. enjoy!

One of the rare neighbourhood beach access points, although it will take you a bit to get there. First the stairs and then, flanked by endless blackberry bushes, a walk along the railway. Late July, early August is berry season so bring a container. The staircase is absolutely amazingly build with numerous places to rest and take a breath on your way up. Especially during sunset time this place shows itโ€™s magic with glistening ocean mirroring the sunlight and illuminating your walk down and up. For opening hours know that they are staggered and change with the length of day, the park gates at the bottom of the street close at: Feb 12 - Apr 15 at 8pm Apr 16 - Aug 25 at 10pm Aug 27 - Oct 15 at 8pm Oct 16 - Feb 11 at 6pm. There is a sign at the gate so make sure to verify the times.

nice stairway which leads to the railway by the sea. If you walk through a tunnel not far away from the bottom of this stairway, you will reach a beach. it's very beautiful place to take photos. Photographing during sunset is highly recommended! there's very limited street parking around the entrance.

Nice and short work but could burn lots of calories. Not 1001 stairs only 230 something. Ran up and down three times. Beautiful sunset though. The tunnel at the end of suprised us.

Getting exercise while enjoying this beautiful hidden gem. One of Vancouver's best beaches. Sunnier than most parts too. Wonderful views of the shore. Lots of space for family and friends. Very active Beach.

Wow thousand and one steps! That sounds like a fun little work out and approximately 1/3 the steps of the grouse grind. But no they are only around 220 steps. But itโ€™s a nice sturdy wooden structure and looks to be well maintained and leads down to a trail which parallels the railroad tracks until thereโ€™s a graffiti painted tunnel going underneath to a very small beach at high tide. We were there around high tide and there wasnโ€™t much walking space. But it looks like it could be a nice beach at lower tide with plenty of space to go walk.

Cool spot to head down to the beach. But not in fact actually 1001 steps. I believe there are 284 in all. At the bottom of the steps, keep going down the trail to the right for 100 or 200 metres. There is a neat little tunnel that goes under the train tracks to the beach. From what I hear, if you keep going along the beach, there is a clothing optional area of the beach a little further on. Very limited parking.

Nice walk and steps. Sign gives open hours that are listed clearly by month. Not as many steps as was promised and no I didn't count them. Not a hard climb and no benches or places to sit. Butt can sit on big rocks on the shore line when the tide is out and don't know what's left when tide comes in. Was my first time.

One of our fave spots to check out a sunset and explore. Just beware of all the steps it takes to get down to the water. What goes down must come up! All kidding aside itโ€™s a great spot to explore the rocky shoreline with a family or take in a quiet picnic with your significant other.

The stairs were not that strenous, and itโ€™s like a forrest to beach experience. Amazing! And oh! Itโ€™s pet friendly.

So i had come here before but i never actually went down the steps, now i did and i thought it would be worse. I thought it would be hard to get up but it was actually pretty easy. The tunnel and beach at the end are so cool. I recommend you come here on a sunny or rainy day since itโ€™s very pretty either way

First time in here, beautiful place. The best time for photos and videos is half hour before sunset. Trains occasionally passed by, so be careful and prepare some ear plugs if you have sensitive ears. Video was shot on iPhone15pm.

Itโ€™s a nice little possibility to take a walk. Once you are down the stairs you will be able to reach the beach through a small tunnel. The area has quite a number of eagles ๐Ÿฆ… to watch, too.

If you are in the area this is a place to check out. I wouldn't go out of my way to see flight of stair leading to the beach. The beach area itself is beautiful and scenic. A little tunnel with some graffiti art nothing to call home about.

Actually it's between 100-200 steps. Some locals run the steps (up and down) 10 times. I'm not one of them. But... I'd rather just walk down and enjoy the view.

We went down the Christopherson Steps, then walked on the rocky beach, and went up the 1001 Steps, it was a great work out! By the way, this beach is clothing optional too (we didn't know until we got there haha).

Not sure if 1001 steps but nice long stairway to very rocky beach. Tide was in so dont know if there is sand. No washroom or any amenities. Entry to staircase is in a nice neighborhood and not a lot of parking on street.

Oh its always a delight to climb these stairs or walk on the nearby trail . N during quarantine nothing could have been better. Did one evening stair climbing, strolling on the beach full of pebbles and watched the long train passing by refreshing childhood memories. This place is usually damp n could be wet if it has rained but today was nothing of that sort. Walked the trail n enjoyed a spectacular sight looking down at ocean and then 1001 steps climb up and down. Its good IIHT workout but just to do it faster.

Nice gated park near the ocean with gorgeous views. There are a lot of eagles here. The actual number of steps is 235 if I am not wrong. There is no parking here.

This is a super nice spot. The steps are a great work out (about 235 steps). Apparently it's about 1001 steps down the stairs, down the path & up the stairs at the other end. There's beach access & it's pretty bushy if you're looking for a nature walk.

(Translated by Google) The stairs are just 230 steps. Some people climbed up and down to do exercise, but when they walked down the stairs and walked through a small path, a tunnel came out, and after passing through the tunnel, the sea expanded. It's a great place for a picnic when the weather is nice. In August, blackberries were everywhere.
