If you never tried OMAKASE this would be perfect res to visit and explore. Chef is super nice and approachable, service is excellent. After my first visit I immediately booked my second. YES, THEY ARE THAT GOOD. I was not expecting much based on the price they offered, but I was wrong. The quality and quantity they provided is way beyond my expectations. After my meal at Yugafu I don't think I would ever go to anywhere else.

Very authentic Japanese omakase experience. Even though we didn't get to sit by the bar but the food was so fresh and amazing! Also, the price won't break the bank compared to other omakases in greater Vancouver. The restaurant is very small, with covid, seating is very limited. Bookings are done A MONTH in advance!!! Please reserve ahead of time!! Most fish are fresh from Japan and my fav are the scallop and otoro nigiri, which just melts in your mouth. The only negative I could think of is it's so far out in Surrey.

It’s so out of the way, over an hour drive from Vancouver. So why did I do it? Because for $80, this is quality that rivals any high tier omakase in Vancouver. In case you don’t know, similar omakase now charge you well over $150 per person. So in this case, how much do you value your time? I thoroughly enjoyed it but they’re so booked up for months, good luck finding any availability. It was great to check this place off though.

Must book it ahead of time ! They are super busy, I booked a month in advance. During the phone cal I only briefly asked if there was anything special for birthdays, but the waitress said no which was completely fine but when we got there the sushi chef made us these super pretty sashimi flowers!! I guess the waitress put a note on our reservation?? But anyways, it was on the house and just so thoughtful!! The chef and waitress are super super sweet thoughtful. Definitely recommend and will go again!

Very fresh and attention to detail. This is the best value omakase meal I ever had. Did not cheap out on ingredients. The prawn starter with uni and ikura on top was amazing and surprised to find a scallop and monkfish liver underneath all in one dish! Beautiful surprise and mix of texture and flavours. Takowasabi complemented the sablefish nicely. The tempura was well battered and super crunchy. I can go on and on but you need to try for yourself. I tried to ask for another reservation and they are currently booking for November in July. 🔥 Edit: Came back again March 2023 and was lucky to sit at the bar. Still excellent with a change of menu item with the seafood hotpot!

My friends raved about this place when they first opened last year, and I’m just sorry to not have visited sooner! Came here for my birthday dinner and this place was absolutely well worth the hype! Everything was so well executed, from the service, the pace of the food being served, the quality of ingredients and the preparation & presentation—just impeccable! It’s definitely not just a sushi place but a true Japanese experience. Amazing value for $70 per guest, they served just the right amount of food, I was full and very satisfied. Highly highly recommend visiting! Reservation is a must.

I know giving this review will just make it harder for me to ever make a reservation here, but I must! This place honestly was amazing. I've never had an omakase experience like the one I did here. The food was fresh, seafood was delicious, and dishes were made with love and quality ingredients. The pacing of this omakase was perfect and timed to each customer's experience. The couple sitting next to us ran late, and instead of making us wait, they timed our meals to work together. (Some Omakases I've been to don't start until everyone arrives, which is understandable, but this varies the experience) If you have the chance, the Yuzu sake and the Sake flight are also a must-have! The chef and waitress are extremely warm and welcoming as well! You can tell that they are a place that prioritizes the customer, the food quality, and the atmosphere over everything. Well worth the wait if and when you can get a reservation. Understandably, they are booked for the rest of the year!

The 5 stars reviews are well deserved. Great food and service. Sushi was imported from Japan weekly. Personally I think the hot food might even be better (only because I feel spoiled by Tetsu Sushi). Must booked in few weeks advance to secure a table.

We had the omakase and it was delicious ! The chef is very talented, the food was delicious and the atmosphere was peaceful. Seems like a family business. Our favorite was the blue fin, yum!

We can't believe we found Japan in here! Yugafu is the BEST and AUTHENTIC Japanese food. Owners Toshi san and Katsura are the nicest people. Not just the presentation and quality. We had our best 12 year anniversary dinner here! I kinda not want to write review for them because there might be too many people book here in the future..lol Sharing is Caring so I had to do it! I highly recommend them to people who live around Surrey! Their quality is better than a lot of places in Vancouver :)

Authentic Japanese restaurant in Langley. I would give more than 5 stars if I could. I came couple times with my family and it’s been fantastic experiences here. The Kaiseki set is wonderful yet not pricy comparing the quality and quantity of foods you get. The chef is so friendly and very kind. He explained the origin of “Yugafu”, which means “wishing the happiness and peace around the world” in Okinawa dialect in Japan. Not only I enjoyed the fantastic foods but also I learnt beautiful Japanese culture. He’s so thoughtful and put ikura for free for my kid when we order tamago maki. Much appreciated 🙏 The interior store is small, got two tables and four bar chairs. If you want to come here and dine in, usually takes at least one month appointment ahead. But it definitely worths to wait and experience the authentic Japanese kaiseki set.

This place is an absolute hidden gem and took me back to Japan! Everything from the friendly service, food presentation, food quality and price point was amazing! We had the omakase and everything was so delicious and we can't wait to be back! Definitely worth the drive here. Thank you Chef Toshi and Katsura!

Fresh Japanese omakase in BC! Came to celebrate my birthday, chef made me a cute and intricate sushi cake!!! Favorite of the omakase dinner, the Hokkaido hotate!! Sooo sweet and perfect texture. Shinaji aji and blue fin was also amazing. The daily miso, agedashi tofu miso soup was out first time and definitely loved it! And the Oden was too good, so glad they make it so perfectly. My husband usually doesn't like sockeye salmon but there's was fresh and their temaki was awesome as well as the beautifully pinched nigiris. Will come back for more!!! Wish they make dorayaki for dessert... Hahahahaha Gochisousama deshita!

First authentic Japanese sushi restaurant in Langley! The food was decent but I really liked the atmosphere. The owners were kind too and the chef displayed masterful charisma.

All I can say is I can’t wait until they open up reservations for next year. A little gem of a spot that looked like it was run by husband and wife only. We were there right at 5 and it was a nice quiet experience with food that was out of this world. Fresh and unique, the Omakase did not disappoint!!! Words cannot describe this place, just go check it out for yourself!

So glad we made the reservation 6 months in advance! We sat down at a table instead of the counter, but that didn't detract from the experience. They do seatings in increments, so we had the restaurant to ourselves for basically the first hour and half. Everything was clean and so cute. We ordered sake and they let us choose which cups to drink from! All of them were uniquely designed. I believe the couple does everything themselves, so service was top notch. Each dish was explained, and we were given suggestions on how to eat them. Loved the standing motif of the perilla leaves in each dish. Everything was fresh and delicious. Even the toro, which is hard to get right in Vancouver, tasted just like it did in Japan. I can't believe we got to try all of this for under $100 a person. I've been to places in Vancouver that charge that much just for frozen sashimi. My favourite would have to be the octopus salad, though. The flavours just blend so well, but you can still taste the distinct layers and it was so refreshing! After the meal, we had to order more of our favourites. We also got the tamago which wasn't on the omakase menu. We were definitely full by the end of our meal. There were 2 other parties sitting down and starting their course when we paid the bill, but nothing was rushed. This is definitely one of the more affordable omakase in the lower mainland, and might just be my favourite so far! We even made a reservation for next year just when we were leaving so we can come back and have another taste. Yes, it's hard to get a reservation, but it's well worth it. The atmosphere, the service, everything was a 10/10.

Everything was delicious! Great value for their omakase. Each dish was on point and executed to perfection with their temperature to their level of crisp. Very kind owners - definitely a ma and pa shop! We enjoyed every bite!! Worth the wait! My favourite was the hotpot.

Hard to get reservation but once you are in, you are in for a treat. Chef and our server was extremely attentive. He even made a small sushi platter for our baby. Cannot recommend enough!

One of the best omakase dinners I've had in Metro Vancouver. The only downside is that there is no online ordering and you will need to call and book months in advance. As of April 2023, the rest of the year is booked up and they don't open resos for 2024 until later this year. That is because the small restaurant is only run by the owners (husband and wife) and they only serve 3-4 parties at a time to maintain the high quality food and service. The appetizers and hot food served before the nigiris were surprisingly good, if not better than the nigiris itself. Don't get me wrong, the nigiris are really good too and all their fish are freshly imported from Japan. The monkfish liver with seasonal seafood was probably my favourite dish of the night. I have never tasted liver that is this fresh and sweet, and does not have any fishy taste. Overall, the $80 omakase kaiseki course was really worth it and well deserving of the 4.9 stars on Google. I'm hoping to be back next year if I can secure a reservation again.

It was a 6-month wait to come to Yugafu for their Omakase Keiseki and while it was good, I would hedge to say it was a 6-month-wait good. At this level of hype, we are no longer talking about how fresh the food is, but how differently they must rise above the other omakase-serving Japanese restaurants of the same repute in the Lower Mainland. I would forego the chawan mushi, the palate cleansing raw fish-radish-roll, and doughy dessert for just a simple ice-cream mochi . The pick of the lot would have to be the grilled black cod with miso, which I would be more than happy to pay $35 just to have that served like an oyakodon, with the black cod superseding the chicken-egg-scallions. The 9-piece nigiri was a big filler-upper, but by then, my hollow legs were stuffed, and I had the pleasant experience of sharing the extras with my son.

I’ve known chef Toshiharu Yamasaki for 15 years and he is an absolute top chef. The quality of food and service is stellar and you can always count on the best fish and authentic Japanese experience and presentation. I highly recommend Yugafu to anyone who wants a memorable experience and wants to keep coming back for the authentic Japanese cuisine in a beautiful space.

Love this place! Omakase is so worth it and their kitchen items are very good as well. Owners are very kind and polite, the only downside is they’re always fully booked and don’t pick up the phone when they’re busy serving dine in customers.

One of the best and authentic Japanese restaurant in town. From the beginning to the end was perfection. Appetizers were super delicious and daily chef choice nigiri set was SUPERB. We also ordered the chef special sashimi set which thankfully we did...because it was a fantastic deal. My wife is a big kin medai fan so we asked Chef Toshi to make us another sashimi plate. We can't explain how awesome their service was. Katsura made us feel super warm and comfortable. My family and myself really enjoy dinning in this awesome little place. We come here at least once a month!

👍 We visited this place on a weekend for late lunch with Mutter pulao, Dal makhni and Veggi Korma. Pulao portion size was not adequate compared to the price. The competitor restaurants around this place serves larger portions even with Uber Eats Order. However , we ordered a plain rice again to finish...
