Very good place for traditional Portuguese food. There is limited outside view from most indoor tables (which is a shame, since the place overlooks a beautiful valley), but the wooden cabin vibe still makes it cozy and enjoyable. Service was attentive and friendly. The goat was properly made, crispy and tender, with tasty roasted potatoes. The boar is a fairly small portion of flavorful earthy meat with pleasant mushrooms and chestnuts. The juniper rice is a very soupy and meat-rich rice, with a slightly acidic flavor that works well. The soups were just ok, and the dessert menu was underwhelming, leveraging industrial ice-creams. We had the house wine and it was also not great, although surprisingly pleasant as a match for such an intense meal. I will certainly come back when I return to Serra da Estrela.

Friendly place. As vegetarians we were pleased to have two options: spinach parcel and vegan burger. The presentation of the burger is unconventional (no bun, comes with rice) but I liked it.

Food was decent, but not exceptional. The atmosphere was very nice, but the staff was not well dressed and did not appear to want to be there. Really killed the vibe. I could see in the kitchen and they were not doing much, but the food come out much quicker than expected. That's always worrying. My steak was a bit tough and a bit cold. My wife's "Javali" was very tasty, but also a bit cold. My daughter enjoyed her meal. Overall, I would not recommend. Not worth driving half way up the mountain for this type of experience.

I am a fan of this family style restaurant. The food was great, the service was great, the atmosphere was great. I would recommend the baby lamb, the goat, and the pork cheek. All excellent dishes.

We had a beautiful experience at this restaurant last night. All of the staff were extremely helpful, and welcoming to us as tourists. We really enjoyed all of the dishes we got. Our favourites were the Cod and Spinach crumbed bake, and the juniper rice. Very delicious. Thanks for having us!

Really nice place near the top of the mountain. I definitely recommend their Serra da Estrela cheese sauce, it is really good! Service was also really fast. We waited less than 10 min between the order and the service (table of 4)

The restaurant is very well decorated with a quiet ambiance. The food was delicious and they served good portions for the paid price. The staff was very kind and the manager asked a few times if everything was good in terms of service which showed appreciation for the customers. We will be back for sure to try other dishes!

We just moved to Covilha and wanted to celebrate our anniversary in this place, going down from the mountain. And belive me it's worth it! Quality of food is superb, everything is local, fresh and good made. The place is welcoming, the service is really polite. Price is ok. For sure we will be back to try something more!

Friendly staff, very good food, nice decor, affordable prices. Two adults and two children, we didn't order dessert because we couldn't take another bite, only ice cream for the kids. Recommended!

An amazing place! First of all the interior decor is beautiful - all real wood and stones, no imitated materials. And the food is authentic and tasty, portions are good! (don't eat before going there 😀) Menu is also available in English! 5 out of 5 ⭐️

The food was delicious - we had borreguinho (which was my favorite of our dishes), cabritinho, and naco de vazia. Ambience was good, servers were pretty nice, the place was beautiful.

On a side street that leads nowhere, you will find Varanda da Estrela. You will see the warm and welcome looking patio before you go uphill again. I came upon this place with many people sitting, eating and laughing - both inside and out - that's usually a good sign. The menu is approachable while not being too varied - there's a clear direction in mind and they do it well. I was welcomed with a tasting of olives, peppers and soft cheese with bread and oil and vinegar, and a menu in English when they realized I wasn't from here. Everything I had was very good. I highly recommend the Ratatouille - I got it as a side dish - I'd come back for an entree of it. Welcome to being welcomed.

Beautiful ambiance and great flavors! We really enjoyed the Chocolate Surprise dessert, although it changes every week. Our table offered stunning views while dining. The servers were attentive, and offered great suggestions. Thanks again for the awesome experience.

Good quality food, good price, friendly staff. Before going make sure you have reserve a table otherwise because of popularity you may not be able to have a table. The meals and starters were exceptional but the deserts however were delicious but could improve. Starters were tasty including local ham an very creamy cheese.

Wonderfully place, super friendly staff, and veggie/vegan options available. The serrana toast (tosta serrana) with sauteed spinach, mushrooms and chestnuts topped with cherry tomatoes was absolutely delicious! Would definitely recommend. Although I didn't try it, the arroz de zimbo and feijoada serrana also has great feedback from my companions.

The food was really good. Service was great, the staff was really nice! They have a special rice that is really good. We had that and the vitela. Sangria was amazing. Also we requested a coffee ice-cream which was really good. The pricing was fair. Has a spacious balcony and tables inside. The space was clean. Recommend.
