The Chimei museum is really quite beautiful. There is a lovely park and area outside of the museum to walk and relax and take pictures. You can but tickets to the permanent exhibition, the temporary exhibition or a combined ticket for both. Everything is clearly labeled and there is a mix of different things to see. There is Arms and Armour, Natural History and Fossils, a Rodin Gallery, Fine Arts and Musical instruments all in the permanent collection. Leading up to the museum outside there is a beautiful Apollo fountain and Olympus Bridge.

We have visited a lot of world renown museums around the world. So I was a little skeptical before visiting Chimei Museum, knowing that most of the exhibits are from Chimei’s founder’s personal collection. Boy was I wrong. The building itself was worth a visit. Very classy and grand. Magnificent work. And the collection of European arts alone were good enough for me to want to revisit again. I will definitely be going back.

What an amazing museum, so much to see here . Animals, paintings, sculptures, an armoury ,and a really beautiful garden . Tickets are 200nt ,but if you're a Tainan resident it's free. There are restaurants, a 7/11,a Starbucks and a very reasonable gift shop. A great day for adults and kids. It's clear that the owner loves history. Everything is beautifully kept.

Simply nice time, I visited the Chimei museum with my family. We went in the period of the Christmas markets. The weather was perfect, light years away from the idyllic, snowy Hollywood movie, it was more suited to beach holidays. As always, this type of event attracts thousands of visitors, so much so that when we arrived at the parking lot it was already ninety-nine percent full. In any case, the car park is large and there is parking for everyone. Inside, the gardens are well-kept and well-kept, suggestive statues sprout here and there and the avenues are clean, the location is very suitable and safe for children. Stands have been set up here in the gardens and avenues of the Chimei museum on the occasion of the Christmas markets on 12 and 13 December and 19 and 20 December. From typical Taiwanese food to well-known foreign dishes such as pizza, ice cream and sandwiches, but also leather goods, outdoors and various gadgets. Inevitable soap bubbles that entertain young and old. Obviously, Santa Claus and the inevitable queue for the photo on his lap cannot be missing. 300 NT$ is the price you must pay to spend an amazing day at Chimei museum during Christmas days.

One of the best museum in Taiwan, yep Taiwan (not Tainan). Amazingly, it is privately owned (not owned by government). Beside the museum itself, the outside area is very big. You can take a graduation shot or bring your own lunchbox to camp there. I really suggest and recommend you to come here if you visit Tainan

台南奇美博物館!I’m so happy this museum is open in Tainan and I can ride the bus here in 30 minutes from home. It is free for me who is Tainan residents. The outdoor area is much bigger than the indoor space and it is very comfortable to walk in the morning when it’s not sunny. The museum is very new and clean. They even have kids area like arts and crafts class. Great place for families and friends! Don’t miss this one if you’re in Tainan. Starbucks and family mart on site.

No exaggeration this was one of the best museums I have been to. Exhibits for fine art, instruments, animals, weapons and armour, all of these across major regions of the world. What a spectacular and diverse place to spend hours on end at. The special exhibit was quite something as well.

The museum was built by Taiwanese tycoon Shi Wen-long of Chi Mei Corporation to house his personal collections and and later donated to Tainan city. It's a beautiful place with pond, trees, grassland, and bridges surrounding the baroque-style museum building. The collections aren't huge but with enough varieties to keep you interested--they are more educational than their real values I think, which makes it even more worthwhile to visit.

One of my favorite museums. The art collection is impressive. Its huge so be ready to walk and stand all day. The eating area is quite small so we had to wait for a table to become available. There are lockers for only 10ntd. The souvenir shop is also nice.

One of the best places to visit for every person coming to Taiwan. The story behind this museum is really touching. The creator and owner of this museum has thought about his country people and built this. The most touching part is that, he wants his people who cannot travel abroad to witness the European and ancient art and culture... The place is divided with several sections like bird, animals, fossils, ancient musical instruments, well renowned art pieces and ancient sculptures from BC ERA... FOR TAINAN citizens and students it's free of cost. Don't miss the musical orchestra at the 3rd floor (every hour) for 5 mins it's so pleasing to watch it.... Thank you chimei group of companies to witness something magical and exciting.. Happy vacation fellows Peace ✌️ ☮️ 🕊

Chimei is a beautiful museum which looks like it belongs in Washington, DC or somewhere in the outskirts of London from the standpoint of architectural style. With its setting in a large, gentile, landscaped park it is truly a grand facility. I spent most of my time viewing the extensive collection of rare stringed instruments, many of which are contained in its vault..not available to the public, but many more of which are on exhibit. The museum loans many of its instruments to prominent or promising Taiwanese musicians, greatly enhancing the country’s offerings in classical music performances. There is an Starbucks and a Seven Eleven housed within the museum, as well as an English tea room and an elaborate Italian restaurant offering pizzas and pastas.

Beautiful museum with European style. The museum have different exhibitions such as paintings, weapons, instruments and natural side. You will spend many hours if you like art. Outside the museum there's a lot of space to do a picnic. Generally locals go there with their family and spend the day in the garden area. Inside there's a 7-11 and Starbucks

A little out of the way to get to from central Tainan City but was worth it to spend the afternoon at this museum. General admission was TWD $200 per adult which felt worth it based on the quality of the permanent displays.

The garden is so beautiful, walkable and very cozy here. It's a good place to relax, the architecture looks like old Greece and the location is just near the Bao An train station. Make sure to use sunscreen and bring an umbrella, it's really hot in summer.

Beautiful place mimicking European style architecture, the collections are impressive between the animals similar to the gallery of evolution in Paris and the Armors and weapons exhibition, there is a lot to be seen. The gardens offer a really nice for hangout and picnic.

One of the best museums I've been to in Taiwan. Part of the joy comes from the eclectic nature of its collections, which span history, science, and fine arts. I found the historical weapons collection to be the highlight - who knew that instruments of death and destruction could be so aesthetically beautiful and culturally rich! I also enjoyed browsing the collection of statues, violins, and 20th-century paintings. In my opinion, the museum is more than worth the $300 entrance fee, and the considerable distance it takes to get there from central tainan. The museum grounds are beautiful, too!

Although I've visited on weekend, there's no long queue. Ticket can purchase upon entering the museum. A museum with lots of exhibitions during Renaissance period. But unfortunately, not all of them can keep on your gallery because taking photos are prohibited on most of the area. Really impressive. It's easily accessible from Tainan HSR. Just take bus H31 from Exit 2 just look at its timetable to avoid any delay and it's free of charge.

Beautiful museum with an great collection or Western art. It is also packed with natural history, antique artefacts and musical instruments. The grounds, inside and outside, remind of classical European architecture. People can also simply relax outside and enjoy the view

This museum is so big and have so many amazing collections inside. You can open the whole day just walking around there. The place is also very nice to take pictures, it looks very luxurious. If you use student ID, you can get a cheaper price for the ticket.

Worth visiting this museum if you happen to be in Tainan. You can easily spend around 3 hours in this place. Ticket price is reasonable too.

This is 1 plc worth to visit. Very educational and the museum is very impressive. Lots of collection for the painting and even musical instruments. I have been to many museums around the world and so far this museum is 1 of the best. They have a very scenic landscaping and garden too. Worth a visit.

Must visit place in Tainan. European architecture with a beautiful lake and parks. It has a museum inside and which is divided into five phases. Two seven eleven, Starbucks, and other shops are on the campus. Staffs are cooperative and professional. The nearest train station is Baon, distance between baon and the park is 1km and baon is the next station to Tainan. Advise-carry some bedsheets for sitting near the lake in the park. Must watch the sunset!

Once couple years ago i took my customers here. There was a huge gathering of Pokemon Go lovers from around the globe. And this time on my way back from Kaohsiung i couldnt miss a chance to stop for a sec to admire this wonderful place. This area sends you back to Old Europe so you even forget you are in Taiwan for a while. It feels like you somewhere in France or in Saint Petersburg, Russia where i am from. Fountains, Sculptures, Fascinating Domes and at the same time you can enjoy the things civilized world brings like 7 Eleven or Starbucks and other cafes located here. Chimei is a big Tainan Corporation so they cover lots of different business but here we feel the soul of Chimei president Shi Wen-Long attached to every element of this wonderful park.

Definitely a must visit when in Tainan! Went to the permanent exhibition which was only 200NT per person. Many spots to take instagrammable pictures! There's also 7-11 and starbucks inside. Also, perfect spot for picnic during the afternoon. The view is just breath taking.

Large collection of art, taxidermy animals from all over the world, marble sculptures and busts, musical instruments and violins. Family friendly, keep in mind that there are sections where cameras are prohibited. The gift shop is on the second floor after entering from the front. Went on a weekday so there’s less people and more space to enjoy the museum.

A beautiful museum in classic European style with beautiful parks and gardens. A short walk from the Boa An train station. Purchased tickets at our local 7-11 at 200 NTD. Busy because of the Lunar New but very reasonable. FOOD No waiting at THE Italian restaurant before 1130 or after 1500, restaurant closes at 1730. There is a 7-11 and Starbucks. also with indoor and outdoor seating in the park/garden.

This is definitely a museum I’ll go back again. Love the sculptures, war weapons, n automatic music machine show. I looked up the weapons n some music organs on YouTube to see how they worked later at home. With the tour guide, I enjoyed the museum even better. A whole day isn’t enough at all, plus the special exhibition. The guides were professional n friendly; they couldn’t explain every work of the collections due to the time limit, but they do open a window to the collections n I wanna know them all. Kids can understand the guides easily, if they aren’t too tired in the afternoon, haha. The walk outside the museum is enjoyable too. Winter sun is great.

Chimei Museum is a fantastic place to visit. With its diverse exhibition halls and a wide array of fascinating artifacts, it's sure to captivate you for hours. You can even take some beautiful photos if you're in a hurry, but be prepared for some sun exposure.

We spent a whole day just visit all the halls and checked out all the collections. We're amazed a private museum can have such a huge quantity and high quality collections. This museum is a combination of smaller version of the Metropolitan Museum plus the American Museum of Nature History in NYC! The collections of instruments are awesome!!! Especially the violins and the antique pianos!! This museum is a blessing to Taiwan. Highly recommended!!! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Groups of students visiting. Educational and informative place. The weather is scorching hot; otherwise, I would take a stroll in the park outside the museum 😖 Please note that photo-taking is not allowed at some of the galleries.

Amazing museum! The permanent exhibition features a lot of animals of all kinds which on its own is worth the visit already. The rest of the exhibition is great too, especially if you like old weapons and armour, musical instruments and funerals arts.

Outright the best museum I’ve ever been to. Right from walking in through the park there is a sense of greatness and awe at the meticulous landscaping, sculptures and archetecture. All the collections are absolutely incredible and leave you wondering how they managed to collect such a vast array of priceless and historical pieces. The layout is great and the collections are smartly gathered. A real highlight is the orchestra room, incredible soundscape with many in the room unexpectedly brought to tears - wow!

Chimei museum is a really nice place to go and take pictures, you see a lot of couples going here to take wedding/engagement photos (do note that you need to get a permit to be able to take pictures on site), there's the fountain of Apollo and all the Greek gods along the bridge. Definitely worth the visit when you're in Tainan.

A great museum. The exhibition targets of the museum are domestic people. For foreign tourists, Musical Instrument Hall and Arms and Armor Hall are highly recommended. The exhibitions in these two halls are of world-class. The mechanical music part of the collection is especially eye-catching. Some of them are rare treasures.

The Chimei museum is totally different with other museums I have visited in Taiwan, here you will find European collections and exhibitions, complete with European architecture as well. The location is in the middle of Bao'an, which is a small city and if you don't drive, I'd suggest you to take a train to Bao'an train station (which is a historical place to see as well). However, in my opinion, the secluded location is advantageous as it makes the atmosphere quite different, it feels like you're no longer in Taiwan and you're somewhere else completely. Keep in mind, it's hard to find restaurants nearby. They have their own italian restaurant but it's quite expensive. They also have 7-Eleven (which provides food as well), Starbucks, and Cold Stones Ice Cream. Parking is so easy with many parking spots available for cars, motorcycles, and bicycles.

Nice museum for all generations to visit. We took train from Tainan station & walked to Chimei museum, which took about 45 mins in total. About foods: No restaurant near here so it is better option to order Uber Eat and camp here. About atmosphere: cool places to hangout with couples or friends, fresh air. Museum ticket: if you are NCKU student, free admission. Chimei by night is also eye-catching so if you dont have rush time, please stay at night here. Good time in Chimei museum ^^
