So sad 😢 we traveled 3 hours from taichung to see this place but when we arrived there it's close and under construction.. hopefully they post a warning in there site that this place is close that's why we cannot travel that far and waste our time😶.

This is awesome when you come in the cold climate. So peaceful and quite place. You can smell sulfur but so little. The distance from the train station is quite far. So if you take elders to here like me, cars would be a good option for you.

Mesmerizing spot on the hills. Don't be tempted to touch the water though, it's boiling. There is a little path around the water to walk around - use it, it can get crowded and people tend to stay at the entrance. No fee, the place is free.

The walk from Xinbeitou train station to Thermal Valley is slightly uphill, but you get peaceful scenery all along the way so you don't even feel tired. It's a leisurely 15min walk passing parks, greenery, creeks, hot springs, museums, library, and a beautiful hot water fountain with green sulphur to wash your hands. The Thermal Valley itself is not big but looks ethereal when the wind blows the hot steam, as though dancing in the air. Public toilets available on site.

Taipei Beitou Geothermal Valley is a really good place to visit. You will be truly surprised by the beauty of nature, and you may also learn about some knowledge about the valley. You can even try washing your hands and feel the warmth of the valley.

Amazing experience. The whole area is scenic and smells of sulfur and senses of relaxation. Incredible ambiance with a lot of happy, calm people either fresh out of a hot spring or about to get in one! Must visit if you are travelling to Taiwan.

Absolutely place to visit !!! There is a few hot sprints in Taiwan, but this one let you realize how hot the water can be, coming from underground. You can smell sulfur, and see how the water is warm from the ground, see photos/video attached. Impressive...

Like rising dragons the ancient waters are spewing heat from the depths of the earth providing the area with their therapeutic waters that you need to experience by going to one of the nearby onsens.

Late afternoon sunshine at the Thermal Valley in Xinbeitou. This is really an incredible place, a natural healing environment both mentally and physically.

Worth a visit if you are at Xinbeitou area. It’s free entry to the hot spring valley formed by volcano eruption.

The water is so hot, it could reach up to 98°. The best part about this place is there's a concrete barrier around the pond. Easily can walk around to take different angles.

Beitou is worth a visit: it's just a short trip away from Taipei via the MRT. Thermal Valley is a marvel while the Hot Spring Museum is very insightful of the history of the town. Paying to enjoy a private hot spring bath is a cap on the feather. Enjoy a cuppa or a drink or two at a delightful cafe for a break while taking in the sights of this wonderful town.

This is a free and must see attraction. The path takes you on a loop around a natural hot spring. The water is steaming and lots absolutely magical. The path is well maintained. There is a foundation near the front entrance to let you touch and feel the water. At the farthest side is a small water fall. This steamy hot spring feeds the warm river that flows through the park and feeds all the hot spring hotels nearby.

Beautiful place, though the combination from the humid weather plus the hot steam made the visit unbearable. If you know what untreated hot spring water smells like, it's intense here. Would still go back for a visit, though. Maybe do it on a rainy day. An hour away from Taipei by bus, the whole town is walkable, and we went through the hotspings museum before dropping by here.

Wow... my eyes were opened. I just came back from Kyushu and this reminded me a bit of the Beppu umi jigoku just that it's not as hot and it's green. I have never heard of green sulfur before. It smells like the yellow one but not as pungent.

Great experience for someone with a curious mind about how hot a volcano is. There are many hot spring surrounding the area. One great experience is eating a boiled corn and egg here.

natural hot springs. It is a famous tourist attraction in Beitou city area. At this place you cannot play in hot water due to the high temperature. The tour will involve visiting the surrounding area of the hot springs. The atmosphere is quite shady but gets a bit hot during noon. If you sell and come to visit this city area, I recommend you to come and visit.

It's very accessible from Xinbeitou train station, prepare to hike uphill but it's good for exercising heheh. It has the most beautiful jade green colored-water. Try spending 10 minutes to sit in the sitting area for relaxation.

Interesting to me as a tourist. Many take opportunity to take photo with themselves and the valley. I suggest come during cold weather, - the thermal Valley heat means the cold weather, do you find this combination better than you come when the weather is not cold.?😅😅😅

Nice scenery, we went in late October. The area around the thermal lake was like walking through a steam bath, add that to the warmer than usual October day, and you'll be wet all over. It's not a big area, so it's a quick trip, they have a walking path circling the lake so you can see it from all sides. They also have a hand "washing" station at the entrance to the valley where you can test your metal with the heat of the water, it was 51 degrees celsius. The basin is in the shape of Taiwan. It's worth the visit if you're in Xinbeitou.

A short walk from the station, with lots of museums on the way, so it was nice to stop by. It's a small thermal valley, probably took about 10 minutes to walk around it slowly, but the steam is thick, making for a impressive sight. Loved the stores nearby selling hot spring eggs as well

Gorgeous ethereal place, almost surreal how calm and peaceful it felt to be here. There’s lots of places to take in the views. Plenty of little shops nearby that sells drinks and food, especially hot spring eggs. Theres a sweet grandpa at the foot of the steps that has an egg stall. His eggs tastes better than the tea egg ones at 7/11. If you go do try to support him.

When you get off the train you may think the most exciting thing about this place is the lampposts, but the walk combined with the bathhouse museum, the plumb house and thermal lake (all free), make for a nice half day slightly away from the mesh of Taipei.

From Shinbaitowo station, climb a gentle slope for about 15 minutes. There are several hotels near hot springs. Only bathing can be used. The road is also easy to walk and walks along the river, so it is comfortable. At the souvenir shop, we sell soap using hot spring ingredients. There is a hot spring museum so you can learn more about this hot spring.

Really cool hot springs easy to get to fro. Taipei city centre. Free entry. We went on a public holiday, but even then it wasn't too overcrowded. The steam coming off the spring was beautiful. Also lots of good local street food and coffee nearby. Would highly recommend as a fun day out

Thermal Valley, also called "Hell Valley", is one of the sources of Beitou Hot Springs in Taipei. It got its name because it is filled with sulfur smoke all year round, which reminds people of the terrifying hell. The water temperature here can reach 90°C, and it is also the hottest hot spring in Beitou.

Not much to do but take a walk around the hot water pond. The temperature is around 90 degrees. Supposedly you could boil eggs earlier but was stopped in the 1990s. It feels hot just to walk around. Can finish this stop in 10 minutes but parking can be an issue in the area.

Nice place to take photos. It located at the end of Beitou park. Outside of the attraction there are shops selling eggs cook by the hot spring. The place is also filled with sulphur smell “Rotten egg” smell. There are Toilets located inside the attraction. Suggest to walk there from Xin Beitou Train station as there are plenty of attraction along the way.

Absolutely gorgeous place. Come on a weekday and you'll miss the crowd. We came mid afternoon and was not disappointed. It's so peaceful here and lovely. Many will take a quick pic and selfie then move on but have a look at the cloud formation from the hotsprings, it's quite mesmerising. Location 20 min walk from the station.

A must visit place if visiting Beitou part of Taipei. The Thermal Valley is really impressive. It is really wonderful to see steam coming out of a large hot spring like this one. It is also very well maintained.

I was there with my guests on private tours and it was crowdy because of holiday but still they were amazed to see so much post-volcanic activity around just within Taipei City limits. I arrange tailored tours in Taipei so I know many unique spots where I get my guests to. they are always surprised with so many natural things Taipei can offer within 1-2 days and you surely can go to hotspring and refresh yourself.

Impressive nature phenomena. Beautiful designed path around the lake. We were there in winter, so the warm steam was appreciated. I would recommend to visit it before your visit in one of the public or private hot springs.

I almost passed on visiting this place, but I'm so glad I didn't. Even my 12 and 7 year old found it a fascinating spot to visit. Watching the steam dance in the wind is a transcendental experience; just magical. If you're passing through, this is definitely worth your time to make the stop. From here, you can also take the S9 (small bus) up to Yangmingshan. But be aware that this bus gets PACKED with passengers going both ways so be prepared to stand or take public transit instead.

Very beautiful. The water is hot?. When there is wind, the steam will go up and come to you, leaving the feeling sticky and uncomfortable a little to the skin. The thermal valley has a walkway around, so we can walk around in circle.

No need tickets - just need to gently climb up the slope uphill to the Thermal Valley. Very scenic place for pictures and videos. Nice experience and sightseeing. Definitely will return to see nature’s art. The place and souvenir shop closes at 5pm. So good to go early :)
