It is a nice open air museum, very calm and peaceful. There is a free english audioguide app you can download. The visit took me about 2 hours and a half, I really took my time. The entrance fee is 1600¥ per adult.

(Translated by Google) This is an outdoor exhibition museum run by the Shikoku Village, a public interest incorporated foundation. It can be accessed from JR Kotoku Line Yajima Station or Kotoden Shido Line Kodenyajima Station. Buses for the summit of Yashima (100 yen/time) are available on a regular basis, so I think this bus should be used effectively. The entrance fee is 1000 yen for adults, which seems a little expensive, but there are many national and prefectural cultural properties in the park, so it's worth seeing. There is also a "Kazura Bridge" at the entrance. It's hard to get to the Kazura Bridge in Iya, so it was nice to be able to see it here. You can see many buildings such as Shodoshima Rural Kabuki Stage, Lighthouse Dormitory, Soy Sauce Storehouse, Arch Bridge, and the Imperial Household Storehouse. It's a great place to learn about old life, and it's a good place for our ancestors to survive and protect. When visiting, I recommend clothes and shoes that are easy to move.

A huge open air museum with many old buildings, gardens and waterfalls. It is located on a hill, so it's quite exhausting to walk around. Parking spots were limited.

Beautiful outdoor museum, we went late April with our kids 8 and 6 and the had a great time. The rope bridge was a great feature but also the entire place where they could run around and explore was great. Highly recommend !

They were okay. A little bit pricey. They used to be 800yen but now they are 1000yen for an entrance. Very famous for those people who likes cosplay. I saw a lot of them here.

Nice display of old houses. Possibilities to see from the inside are a bit limited. But overall nice place to visit. The open air art (bag in a bottle) and the Shikoku Mura gallery are the real highlights. Small but nice collection and a great view!

The place is refreshing, calm and interesting to go for. Indeed to see how were people living in the old days, allow us to understand why the Japanese are so eager to preserve their culture and tradition. Ps: the bridge on the water was scary but worth a try. No danger at all

The museum was a huge complex of different ancient wooden huts. These huts were located in a disperse area, which were quite difficult to locate with the map they provided. The paths were quite difficult to walk on as well, especially after rain. The car park was located at the entrance, which was quite convenient. All the huts came with lines of explanations, which were fun to read (mostly in Japanese though). There was also an art gallery, which was not 100% related to this whole complex of huts.

Great place with lots of interesting buildings that can be fully understood using Google translate! Plenty of info in English too. Nice site to walk around too. Wooded and shady.

Great outdoor museum that takes around 1-2 hours to complete. It's on the side of a mountain, so note they there is a bit of a hike up. They have old rural thatched roof buildings, and some more modern facilities. There are also a number of nice waterfalls. You get a 100 yen discount to the little cafe right out in front with admission too. I'd recommend visitors come check it out if they get the chance.

From JR Yashima station, walk north for 10 minutes to reach the place. Entrance Fee is 1000yen/ adult. There is a variety of folk houses - Yamashitas, Konos, Shimokis, fisherman's house, Master Kune. Surprisingly a Western house too. There are also industrial houses - sugar mill & soy sauce warehouse.Ater the visit, can have a coffee break at the coffee house.

Very beautiful open-air museum with old exemplary buildings settled in a forest with waterfall area. The atmosphere (especially after rain in the last hour before closure) was amazing. Just be careful, it can get slippery on stone pathwalk.

It's absolutely wonderful. You can learn so much about the history of Shikoku. The park itself is beautiful, there aren't many visitors so it sometimes feels like you're the only one there. 100% recommended

Awesome place, many interesting buildings and beautiful scenery. Almost all descriptions are available in English. Also, this place has very few tourists, so you can enjoy it without people getting in your way.

Went here today and had a great time. 1600 yen for an adult and I thought it was well worth it. The exhibits are beautiful and well kept, the sites are numbered to help make sure you see everything. There's also a little art gallery in the middle of the walk, be sure not to miss it. Don't get distracted by the sound of the waterfall, you'll see it at the end. This really is a hidden gem. I went during the week, no lines, no crowds. I could leisurely stroll through and get all the pictures I wanted with no one trying to recreate someone else's IG experience getting in my way. There's a little shop at the end to buy some souvenirs... I may have spent a little more than I should... but no ragrets. Tip: go here before going to the restaurant, you may get a discount voucher like I did.

We visited Shikoku Mura during spring, the vegetation was very lush and the place is all in all just very beautiful. Definitely worth a visit, if you are in Takamatsu.

I have spoken with a few japanese locals who didn't even know this place existed. If you are interested in learning of old architecture from around Shikoku island please visit. The walk was very nice and there was a lot to learn.

Good outdoor museum. Downsides are the many steps that would be bad for those with limited mobility. The gallery is also quite small, but a nice display area. Easy to spend one to two hours.

I've had a great experience at Shikoku Mura. Beautiful manner of learning a part of Shikoku's history, with the availability of a downloadable app to get extra information as you walk. If you like history, this is a place not to miss !

Just the replica vine bridge made Shikoku Village worth visiting! The rest of the open air museum is surprisingly interesting and shows how Japanese people lived in the past. There is a bit of a walk from the closest train station, although there is a bus stop right outside the entrance of Shikoku Village if you can time it right.

Really beautiful and informative outdoor museum. Would recommend english only visitors to download the audio guide for the best experience if a guide is not available. Some of the little videos had english subtitles but not all did There were many bathrooms in the museum. Be prepared to walk and climb a lot (it is on a hilly area), wear comfortable shoes!

Beautiful open air museum of building from all over Shikoku and also includes gallery designed by Tadao Ando.

Shikoku Mura is an extraordinary place for lovers of architecture and landscape design. It's an open air museum with traditional buildings set amongst beautifully curated landscapes. It also houses the modern Shikoku Mura gallery designed by Tadao Ando - a modern art display space with amazing views and water features.

This museum exceeded my expectations! I dare to say it's one of the best in Japan, its uniqueness will definitely make an impression on you.

Fantastic displays of historic homes and functional structures from the Edo & Meji Period and if that doesn’t rock your boat there’s a Tadao Ando built gallery at the top. The tea house is also super sweet and they have an english menu.

Interesting bits of Shikoku history. A few hours is enough. I didn’t enjoy it too much though. The shrine beside has good views from atop the hill.

It is a shame not many people aware of this maginificent place. This plave have most of the replica of the traditional houses across the Shikoku. There is also restaurant and souvenir shop near the entrance and the parking area. Since we visited it in winter, there are not many to saw aside from lots of blooming dark pink camellia. Once it's spring, many flowers including the iris will bloom.

A must visit, excellent descriptions in English, an educational look at how locals from 1600 to pre-industrial Japan lived in villages. Alll of the buildings are transplants and very quiet with a modern art museum up hill with excellent stories of the artist’s works and life overseas. Only 1000 yen entry. It doesn’t have the demonstrations of other cultural centers but cheaper and a good walk amongst some fragrant forests and flowers. I could hear movement of snakes but didn’t see any. Many butterflies in the summer. Just wonderful.

(Translated by Google) It's a light hike. There are preserved buildings in the mountains, so it's difficult in summer. There are a lot of insects and bees in the preservation building, so it may be necessary to take some measures. By the way, the view on the top of the mountain is reasonably good.
