Although
the
guesthouse
only
has
10
beds,
each
comes
in
a
private
compartment,
so
it
feels
like
a
personal
private
space.
Lisa,
owner
and
director
of
the
guesthouse,
is
very
helpful
and
personable.
I
enjoyed
chatting
with
her,
but
more
so
because
we
are
both
fluent
in
Mandarin,
so
I
didn't
have
to
stumble
along
using
my
half-baked
Japanese.
A
washing
machine
and
dryer
would
have
been
a
welcome
addition,
as
I
had
to
lug
my
laundry
quite
a
fair
distance
away.
That
said,
given
that
space
is
already
a
premium,
perhaps
it's
not
easy
to
fit
in
a
washing
machine.
In
addition,
the
ground
floor
could
perhaps
be
refurbished
into
a
common
area
with
more
tables
and
chairs
(i.e.
remove
the
elevated
tatami
seating)
and
also
a
DIY
kitchen,
so
that
it
encourages
interaction
among
the
guests
-
a
lounge
where
guests
can
hang
out
over
coffee,
drinks,
watching
the
TV
or
just
surfing
the
Internet
on
their
laptops
or
smartphones.
The
current
concept
feels
very
cramped
and
naturally,
guests
would
prefer
to
go
back
to
their
own
compartments
upstairs.
