This is the second time we’ve come to eat at this restaurant. The vibe is the nice. The food tastes great but we were again faced with slow service. It seems that they do online orders and those take priority over seated guests. I would really like to see that change as they have great chefs and selection of food. Just keep in mind if you go in for dinner it will take a while.

Edamame w sea salt and sesame oil added was a nice touch. Shrimp fried rice was good but I would have loved it if the wok was scorched to create more of a burnt taste. Jasmine tea was good. Spicy tuna with avocado minus the mango was spot on. But the icing on the experience was Devan?, our server, he was spot on. Will be back again. Good job Sakana! 👍👍👍

I think we might have found our new sushi restaurant. Friendly staff, the food was great full of flavor. We will be back for sure.

The pink lady roll was incredible! The drinks were strong and the baby octopus was so unique. I also recommend their hand rolls. Very good! I was only disappointed in the service which was split between the trainee and the waitress.

Excellent sushi!!! Out of all the sushi places I have tried from Tampa to NYC (I lived in NYC for 25 years), this earns the crown. I went here multiple times already and the food is always exceptional and always fresh.

Definitely give them a try. We have been Delicious & great service. No complaints! My little one/ 10yo loves the California roll, Edamame & plain white rice. Personally, I think the Volcano Roll is delicious. The Eel sauce is a little sweet, but perfect pairing! Considering customer service is lacking and sub-par these days, it is very nice to receive excellent service. We were very fortunate to have Allen as our waiter. He is very knowledgeable & extremely polite. We took our time ordering. He did not rush us at all. Casual & business attire seems acceptable. The environment was relaxing & comfortable.

It's an excellent sushi spot in South Tampa. They have creative chef creations along with all the classics. The barbecue squid appetizer was unique and tasty. The sushi were large pieces with lots of flavor. They have a nice wine and saki selection. They have friendly and personable service. If you are a sushi fan, you won't be disappointed.

This is our favorite neighborhood spot for sushi & other delicious Japanese foods. My kids & my mom all love it so automatically a Win! Jen & Erin ar the absolute best behind the bar & it's a neighborhood favorite spot 😍

We ate here for the first time this weekend. The food was excellent especially the cheese wonton. My red dragon roll was superior and the duck egg rolls.. EXCELLENT. Our server was on top of his game and did a very good job as well.

Up until today I only did carry out here, overall I was pleased with the food. Had dinner here on a Friday night, the food and service was great. The only thing I would recommend is a light jacket, it was a little chilly where I was seated. Other than that I would highly recommend Sakana Sushi!

By far the best sushi in S Tampa. I personally love Jen the bartender as she’s always been very accommodating. Jen honestly brings a level of service that is hard to find at any restaurant/bar environment. FYI if she’s working then that’s when I’ll go. Thanks Jen for the level of service you have provided in the past and your on going effort to always provide a balanced bar experience to the customers you support.

Excellent sushi. I feel like no other sushi compares to Sakana. I would only say that service can kinda be slow and it can sometimes be difficult to get a table during the weekend so make a reservation if you can. I would still give this 5 stars.

Upon first getting there we were told it would be about a 10 minute wait. 25 minutes later we noticed others being seated after we arrived. After speaking to the hostess we were told that they had called our names several times and they hadn't. We were sitting 6 feet away at the bar. Finally we were given a spot at the sushi bar which made up for the inconvenience of being forgotten. The server was attentive, friendly, and helpful. The philly cheese steak egg rolls were delicious and the sushi was the best we have had since we moved to Florida.

We stopped in and tried this place out for the first time last week, and it was really great. The staff was super friendly and attentive, and all of the items we ordered were very fresh and tasty. I really loved the spring rolls and shrimp tempura. They also have a full liquor bar! I’ll definitely be going back soon!

Small friendly staff; our waitress always remembers our orders and what we like to drink. Great sushi with quality ingredients. Clean atmosphere from the front door to the restroom, everything's always clean. Food is fairly priced, and they offer military discount. All of these reasons are why we frequent this amazing hole in the wall sushi joint.

Tuna sashimi was very good!!!!!! The torch salmon was ok, but highly recommend nigiri style with eel sauce, instead of the scallions and ponzu sauce.

Wow. What a pleasure it was to dine here. We’ve found that Tampa restaurants often ride the hype of their parent company or the social media buzz of their launch day but what a treat it was to stumble upon a hidden gem such as Sakana with little to no media presence and have the single best sushi/Asian style small plate meal we’ve easily had in the area. We had the edamame, miso soup, fried rice, pork dumplings, Philly roll, salmon tempura roll and tempora fried cheesecake. All were incredible. Our bartender Jennifer was equally amazing. The cleanliness, responsive staff, food quality, recommendations, plethora of options and more were more than enough reasons to dine here. Try it. And tell Jennifer you saw this review first.

I stopped at lunch while running errands near-by. I have been to 80% of sushi restaurants in Tampa. I SHOULD have been here! The lobster roll I ordered was beyond foodgasmic. FRESH, the lobster, the tuna, avocado, all sublime. Service; friendly and quick, establishment; welcoming and quaint. I wish I took a better pic, but was expecting a typical to-go roll. I cannot wait for a real dinner here!
