I made a reservation to celebrate our anniversary and was not impressed at all. We received a call two days prior with strict instructions about dress code, which was fine as we like to dress up; however, that was clearly not enforced and people were in tshirts and casual clothing as well as the staff. For a supposed upscale dining experience (and for the price) it really felt like we were at a Cheesecake Factory or a chilis. We reserved for a table inside although they tried to seat us on the patio so we had to wait a bit for them to seat us only to squish us in between a 6 top and another small table (literally inches away). It was so loud and chaotic inside we couldn’t even have a conversation. It took forever for our wait staff to acknowledge us since the large table next to us clearly took priority, and even when they did they clearly did not communicate with each other since no one knew who did what for us. We had to lean and dodge waiters and other customers getting up and moving by our table all night which was not enjoyable. We were also supposed to get a complimentary corn appetizer that never arrived, not a huge deal. Our rib appetizer was sub par but thankfully the steaks and sides were excellent. The filet was cooked to perfection and the tater tots were so creamy crunchy and delicious. The main course was the only redeeming quality of the meal. We ordered the cinnamon roll for dessert which tasted like it was made a few days prior and then zapped in the microwave. It was extremely chewy. Overall not impressed with the restaurant, and even though the steak was good I don’t think we will ever come back given the ambiance and service. We only spent about $200 but probably would have gotten more courses, drinks if we were having a better experience. Not worth it at all in my opinion. There are much better options for steak in the Tampa area.

Not really impressed. Overpriced food, steak was very dry. The old fashioned I ordered was very bitter. The oysters were decent but it was covered in so much toppings i could barely taste the oyster. It was also very crowded which makes you assume it's good, but its not. Definitely lots of other restaurants that are much better.

My wife came into Tampa for a visit so I decided to take her to trendy Hyde Park for lunch. We chose the comically named Meat Market to eat. It definitely has an upscale vibe which they enhance by making us wait for 10 minutes outside even though we could clearly see most tables were available. Another couple after us just left when they were told they would have to wait for a seat at a nearly empty restaurant. I guess they can afford to lose business. The server was named Bianca and she was super friendly and attentive. I ordered the Churrasco with fries. The steak was okay but overpriced at $30. My wife got a turkey sandwich which looked amazing and she enjoyed. I probably would not return since there are other places in the area to choose from.

The Meat Market does have excellent food and friendly service. That's about it. They nickel and dime for everything ($8 for a small bottle of water plus tax and automatic 23% service charge, which they didn't disclose until after the bill came due?!), and they are not good for large groups. We planned our event two months in advance, and then they act like they're surprised when we show up, not having adequate seating for us, with many of our party having to squeeze in and sit on ottomans?! They wouldn't do separate checks for drinks / liquor, and that's unacceptable for a group of 40 who are dropping $15K on a dinner. Would I go back if it was just myself with a date? Perhaps. I'd think twice though. Would I go back with a large group that was planned months in advance, only to be disappointed? No, and I advise all large groups to stay far away.

Overall, 5/10 experience. Our table of 4 had a weekday 8:30 reservation for my birthday. We had oysters and lobster bisque for appetizers. The oysters were flavorful but very small. The bisque was thin and underwhelming. We had three filets ordered at our table, and 2 out of 3 were well overcooked; we ordered medium rare and they came medium well. They were also poorly seasoned. We had the lobster mac and cheese, and it was undercooked and bland. Service by our waiter was wonderful, but it was incredibly slow. I’m not sure why as we saw other tables seated after us served much more quickly. We even waited incredibly long for a glass of wine. We were there for a total of 3.5 hours, waiting for food rather than enjoying our meal for most of the time. As a steakhouse where sides are not even included with steaks, I was very disappointed in the quality. I would not recommend this restaurant nor plan on returning for a second chance.

What is the hype about? I've tried this place on several occasions - brunch, dinner, late evening cocktails. It took 45min past the reservation time to get seated - after several reminders. Food is mediocre, especially for the price. Steak is flavorless unless adding toppings. Cocktails are good. Servers are either wonderful or on a rude side. Placemats are torn, lots of random stuff in the hallway, tiny restrooms. Won't be back even thought it is considered a very trendy spot.

Please improve your bartenders attentiveness. Sat at the bar and took long time to be served, when I was ready to order drink, I felt ignored.. and then took long time to order food. By the way it was not busy at all… Why should I tip if the service is this horrible? Please train your staff better customer service. Thank you.

Sooo Meat Market Steakhouse Tampa, I had high expectations for and was somewhat disappointed. Let me start with, the food was good. When I go somewhere to sit down to eat I’m looking at the full experience. If I only wanted good food I’d order to-go. My sister was in town visiting and the plan was to take her somewhere nice. Our reservation was for 9:45pm on a Friday night. We were seated at 10ish which there was a lot of visible confusion from the staff. Finally our table! Well our first waitress took our drink order. We then had a second waiter come who began to speak and midway paused (long pause) and stated he would be back. It was very awkward lol we at least found it funny. I hate long reviews so long shorty short, after a while of waiting, I flagged one of the hostess to say what happened, and he took our appetizer order. All our food did not arrive to our table until about 11:45pm. We were sooo hungry. The manager eventually came out with the appetizer to apologize for the wait and took care of the oysters. Bottomline, when I go to “high in” restaurant I expect a awesome experience which we did not get. I’ll pass on returning but at least the food was good. What was ordered: Oysters / Filet Mignon / Wood Grilled Scottish Salmon / Mac&Cheese / Cream Spinach Oysters = Loved the horseradish Filet Mignon = Cooked just right Wood Grilled Scottish Salmon = My favorite of the meal Mac & Cheese = Not a fan of skinny noodles Scream Spinach = Add bacon to anything & I love it

Ate here for Thanksgiving dinner and had a pretty good experience! We had to wait 15 minutes past our reservation time to be seated and didn’t think the host was too welcoming, but our server was nice and attentive. Food was good and met expectations, but nothing was good enough to make me crave it or want to come back for it. My favorite dish was the scalloped potatoes with goat cheese. The arancini special was good but the price seemed steep for the portion size ($19 for three). Everything else seemed pretty fairly priced. Spent $400 for two people which included drinks, apps, entrees, and dessert. Overall had a nice time but there are better places in the area.

When you’re in the mood for a drink, Meat Market is what should come to mind. Handcrafted drinks, not just a shake and pour here. Things got pretty hot with our drinks! Highly recommended. I have yet experienced their dinner selections but I will and follow up! Looks amazing though. The ambiance was perfectly set. Low lighting, great music, excellent service with the bartenders! The chef sent out these light, crispy, seasoned Corn Pops, I don’t recall what they are called but those were absolutely delicious! Perfect when having drinks!

First off, the staff here will bend over backwards to accommodate you to the best of their abilities. I had a change in party size that went above what they do normally. As usual the dinner was amazing and the Fig Old Fashion was perfection! The setting is fun and easy going. Definitely more upscale than most places in Tampa, though not as intimate as a couple others. BUT.. I would prefer Meat Market over all else as the staff and food makes for a better overall experience for sure!

I can’t comment on my experience because they turned me away at the door for wearing flip flops. Please see how my wife and I were dressed and denied service. It was also nice to see a girl in ripped jeans and converse allstars was seated without issue. I’m fine with a dress code but let’s do better.

This was my first time visiting here for a birthday event. I was told by a colleague that the steaks here were outstanding! When I arrived it was quiet noisy. The restaurant’s choice in music didn’t match the scenery. Also, they had a disco party in the other room. My waitress had to elevate her voice constantly just so we could hear her. She didn’t check on us as frequently as she should have. I tried the magic lemonade and that was really good! The sea bass that I ordered was rather small and the taste was okay. My partner ordered the churrascaso steak paired with asparagus and mashed potatoes. The steak was also rather small but it was juicy. It could use more flavor. I thought for a birthday event, my partner would have gotten a dessert but she didn’t receive anything. If you’re looking to try a new steak restaurant there are others that deliver a better experience than this one.

We went to have our lunch for a Saturday afternoon and were seated immediately. The server was attentive and we ordered some fresh juices and they are really good to start with. The food came pretty quick and everything is fresh and tasty . A little expensive but it’s the area I guess but we enjoyed our meals and will sure would like to try other items on the menu in our next visit

If I could give more than 5 stars I most definitely would! From start to finish this experience was phenomenal. My boyfriend took me here for my birthday dinner and I could not have asked for a better meal or a better server. Austin made our entire Meat Market experience a great one. He was knowledgeable, friendly and very accommodating. The food came out in a timely manner, the meat was cooked perfectly and all of the sides were flavorful and fresh. I highly recommend MM! I’m looking forward to going back!

Arrived 10 mins early for our reservation. Hostesses were unorganized. They asked us to wait by the overcrowded bar. 25 mins later we checked on our reservation and they said they could only seat us outdoors, unless we waited. Reservation was made for indoor dining, so we decided to wait. 45 mins later, we were seated. Our waiter Zac V was very knowledgeable with the menu and saved the entire night. We enjoyed his recommendations and will only go back for him. He gets a 5 ⭐️ rating from us!

The last time I was here, we came in a big group. Our table was called, and it just so happened that one of us that will not be named wore shorts.............. Thank the food gods that they at least let us sit outside. However, not getting the full experience haunted me for a while......until yesterday. I finally got to see the insides of the mythical Meat Market, and I was 100% satisfied. The atmosphere and decore......AMAZING! The staff was just as great as the last time, but this time, we were a part of the whole ecosystem. I am an old-fashioned kind of guy, and the fig old fashion is a must try. Not too sweet and perfectly executed. The escargot was melt in your mouth tender, buttery, and full of flavor. Roasted bone marrow........ more like butter of the gods. The braised short ribs and cherry marmalade paired beautifully with the richness of the bone marrow. And then there was the Caesar Salad. Who knew grilled Kale has been the missing ingredient to the most perfect Caesar. I didn't, but wow, was that memorable. I even had to text myself "grilled kale" to try this myself. The star of the show was the 32oz Wagyu Tomahawk. Nothing makes you feel more primal than a Tomahawk. Cook on it was a textbook medium. Each piece just melted in my mouth. It was just an overall amazing experience. When in Tampa, give this place a try. I promise you will not be disappointed.

Impressed with the experience top To bottom. Scott our server was on point and very knowledgeable. The entire staff moves around like a well oiled machine. We shared the bone in filet and the sea bass. Both excellent dishes. Highly recommend the Meat Market.

Great food, lively modern atmosphere and friendly , and attentive waiters who maintain a higher-end level of service. What more do you need ? Expect a busy bustling environment so dress well and take an Uber so you can enjoy either a great wine or one of their many delicious cocktails.

Looking for an amazing experience for a nice night out, look no further! Staff goes above and beyond, service is fast and food is spectacular! Seating inside and out to accommodate all, great drink choices, excellent specials, and wonderful location! Forgot to take pics of the drinks and food was after we started...whoops! Pictured is the meatloaf, 8 Oz steak and sweet potato fries all which were fantastic! I wouldn't recommend bringing kids here as the pricing is a bit high and the atmosphere is geared towards adults. But it's a wonderful experience all around!

Joined some work colleagues for dinner here for a party of 5. Wonderful ambiance with plenty of people watching. Enjoyed some excellent Bourbon & Whiskey at the bar 1st with some fancy tator tots. All the food was delicious. The brussel sprouts appetizer had a very unique flavor almost of balsamic vinegrate and deep. Very surprisingly good. Filet was deliciously medium with a great crust flavor! The cinnamon bun ice cream desert was to die for. Service was top notch.

All of my experiences have been really good. The steak is always cooked perfectly. Appetizers never disappoint. The mac and cheese is flavorful and very cheesy (not dry). The Cinnabon dessert was really good(rich but savory). My son received a delicious custard for his bday which was also good. Ate brunch here as well and their breakfast sandwich is top-notch. Nice vibe on a Sunday morning. Staff is usually very welcoming.

I can’t say enough good things about Meat Market and the team there. When I had to plan my mom’s birthday this year I contacted them and they were so responsive and organized. Sebastian and Claire immediately were able to lay out all the option for a private dinner party. If you are looking to do an upscale private dinner party with a great atmosphere, excellent food, service and craft cocktails this is the place. They exceeded my expectations. Everyone who attended the dinner had an amazing time, commented how great the food was and how excellent the cocktails were. Thank you Sebastian and Meat Market team for making it memorable.

We went for the happy hour on Sunday!. The cocktails were great! Shrimps and oysters were tasty also the tuna nachos!. To finish our meal we ordered 2 desserts the creme Brule and the chocolate cookie both were amazing!. To avoid the waiting it's important to reserve in advance, the happy hour is just at the bar or in the outside tables.

We had our 1 year wedding anniversary last night here. It was incredible we even called ahead to move our reservation a little earlier the same evening and they were able to accommodate. All the staff kept coming over to wish us a happy anniversary. The food was AMAZING and so was the service. Huge shout out to Evan and Michael for being the best of the best!!! we will be back!!!

Went here on a whim because the dessert menu looked 🔥🔥. From the moment we were seated to the moment we left, we were well taken care of - drinks and snacks on the house, frequent water top-offs, and check-ins. The food and drinks arrived quickly and were absolutely delicious! I was skeptical because of the overall reviews but I’m glad we gave this place a try and we will be back. It was really top notch. Thank you Morgan and Briere for a wonderful anniversary dinner!

Just left restaurant, for my Birthday dinner. From the moment we checked in till check out the experience was spot on. Service was great, food was great! Our server was good but I wish I would have gotten the name of the young lady who was keeping up with the details of water, silverware, folding up napkins if we stepped away from table, etc… the small details that go a long way to make a great experience. Thanks for making my birthday dinner really great! Crab cake - good steak trio - small but really really great! Tuna steak -great! Grilled Asparagus w/ butter-great Cinnamon roll w/ icecream - so good. Thinking I’m missing few things Drinks… Pecan Old Fashioned - really good Some like it hot - really good Glass of Justin Cab - :) As for dress code we love being lil dressed for date nite or special occasion. For most part most folks were dressed and adhering to dress code and those who didn’t were on patio or bar area. Looks like they made some exceptions for some. Overall really good experience , some may consider it to be on the pricey side but I think the food lived and experience made it worth it. We will add the meat market to our date nite rotation as well :).

Literally one of the best meals I've eaten in my entire life! Great atmosphere and service. I had the fresh pasta with spinach and mushroom same a creamy cheesy sauce. Perfection!!! (I never leave reviews but this was totally worth it)

This is an upscale restaurant in Hyde Park Tampa. We sat under their huge outdoor patio which was very comfortable. Later when going inside it was very noisy, so glad we sat outside. Service was excellent. The Tuna Tartare was excellent and the sandwich my husband had was very good.

We went on a Saturday. Food was delicious, bartenders were very nice and attentive, wine is good. I think the problem is with their booking system because we had a reservation at 9:15pm and then had to wait until ~9:50pm to be seated, so probably the hostess also needs to improve the communication with the guests so that they don’t feel confused about what’s going on. Bar reservations are not real based on host information, so if you see a reservation to seat in the bar, it means you are going to be in a table instead of the bar. The lobster mashed potatoes was great, I did it with the prime picanha steak.

Tasted a few menu items with the grilled shrimp ceviche being my favorite as it had a hint of mango, citrus, and zest to it. Steaks were great quality and each had a unique sauce to go with them. Drinks were fairly priced and delicious. Outside area was much quieter than the inside. Staff was friendly and service was superb. A must try restaurant when visiting Hyde Park.

Visited Meat Market for Sunday brunch and we had a great time. We started with fresh shrimp (perfect) and oysters (on the small side but were fresh and not fishy), as well as the duck & waffles and finally the turkey & egg sandwich topped with shaved black truffle (yum). We sat at the patio and enjoyed the scenery of everyone walking through the shops enjoying a beautiful Tampa Sunday. There was a champagne bar available as well as yummy Bloody Mary’s. Though we were dressed in casual Sunday attire several of the staff and many customers were dressed for a night out so, the dress attire even for brunch is flexible.

This is a great place if you're looking for a trendy spot to be seen with bottomless booze specials. Food is pretty good but if you want to have a conversation best to sit outside. There are a couple tables on the sidewalk for those with pups too.

Went to art show today and happened upon Meat Market. They were able to get our big party seated within 10 minutes which was amazing. Our server was great. Drinks came out fast and Bloody Mary’s were outstanding! The food came out timely and also was delicious. They comp’d the one meal which was delayed which was super nice and unexpected. The quinoa salad was delicious but just a bit over-dressed. Can’t say the same for the waitstaff though. The females were barely dressed but the manager was in a 3 piece suit. Do better on that front please!

  • 4/5 Janet “Eats for Life” S. 1 year ago on Google
The name of the restaurant suggests there will be plenty of meat, but you will leave hungry unless you order appetizers, dinner, and tack on a salad. They were, however, happy to accommodate for a very specific diet ( Gluten-Free, Grain-Free, Processed Sugar-Free, and Kosher). For the prices, you would expect more, but the atmosphere is like a fine dining bistro with shops and people watching right by your table.

So this was a recommendation, and after reading the reviews I had my doubts but I'm so glad I went with it. First let me commend the staff, because everyone from the hostess to our server Kimberly were great! My dining experience here was great and I will definitely be back on my next visit to Tampa.

Let me start by saying the this establishment is in my top ten list. The menu is based on American Culinary taste and it was very good. My Bison burger was cooked perfectly and the fries were fresh cut and very tasty. The ambience was first class and very welcoming. The staff is very professional in their work ethic and demeanor. Can't wait to go again.

Visited Saturday Feb 26 while on a Anniversary celebration with my wife. Tampa was on fire this weekend so we couldn’t get reservations, however we were able to score a seat at the bar. The staff at the bar was amazing and the food was the best ever! We shared the Tomahawk steak that was cooked to perfection, fork tender and filled with flavor. The sides, salad and desert was great as well. So glad we were able to find a seat, it was a great meal to celebrate 37 years!
