Very lovely cathedral. The main church building is of very high standard. I attended Mass there twice and the liturgy was well observed. The choir makes the liturgy a pleasure to partake in. This is the seat of the Metropolitan Archbishop of Lagos Archdiocese

The seat of the Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Lagos. It is an architectural piece per excellence. It has very comfortable seats and it is fully air-conditioned. The current Archbishop is His Grace, Alfred Adewale Martins. Before him were: Francesco Borghero (1861-1865) Pierre Bouche (1867-1871) Jean-Baptiste Chausse, SMA † (12 May 1891 – 30 January 1894 deceased) Paul Pellet, SMA † (15 January 1895 – 1902 resigned) Joseph-Antoine Lang, SMA † (19 July 1902 – 2 January 1912 deceased) Ferdinand Terrien, SMA † (1 March 1912 – 3 August 1929 deceased) François O'Rourke, SMA † (31 March 1930 – 28 October 1938 deceased) Leo Hale Taylor, SMA † (13 June 1939 – 27 October 1965 deceased) John Kwao Amuzu Aggey † (6 July 1965 – 13 March 1972 died) Anthony Olubunmi Okogie (April 13, 1973 – May 25, 2012 retired)

It's a beautiful place of devotional worship. I like that when we have Archdiocesan programs, seating is provided outside. The Cathedral is too small to accommodate the teeming population of Catholics in Lagos. It is very beautiful and located in a very accessible part of town

The architecture is simply mind blowing. It takes you through the history of Lagos all in one visit. If you're imaginative enough and listen closely too,you would probably hear it whisper secrets.

Holy Cross Cathedral Church, Lagos is an heritage institution. It is an historic Christian worship centre with the finest architectural masterpiece. It’s ambience is top range an it brings a unique feature to its environment. It’s surroundings are well maintained. When one is inside the church, there’s a nostalgic feeling that one has. A nice worship centre.

I am a time conscious person and the Cathedral do more on time, they don't do too much offering like the others do. In there you don't know who his who until you mix up. In fact know Dowling moments in the Church, when you are there you must go home filled with the word and experience God each day. God bless the Administrator.

Great Gothic architecture in the heart of Lagos Island. Wonderful history attached to the Afro Brazilians and French priests originally holding masses. Intriguing historical timeline. It was constructed circa 1932–1934/36 and was designed by Afro-Brazilians of the Brazilian Quarters or Popo Aguda. Builders included Afro-Brazilians and some French priests of the SMA. It’s designed in the French Gothic style of architecture and features pinnacles, foils, arches, smaller chapels dedicated to different saints in the Roman Catholic history and intriguing stained glass windows. if you look very well, you’d find a stained glass window donated by Candido da Rocha, Lagos’ first recorded millionaire. if you look more closely, you’d find a gift from Governor Moloney for the healing of his daughter.

Mother church of the Catholic Archdiocese of Lagos. Have you seen the design of the AC ducts?👌 Check out the chapel of perpetual adoration. After adoring our oga Jesus exposed, catch a glimpse of the stained glass with the glorious image of our Lady Mother of the Church. How many continents are represented? By the way, make sure you're there to pray 🙏

This cathedral is an edifice. The compound is clean all the time. The choir are great. Lastly, the clinic is open for anyone that needs medical attention. Holy Cross Cathedral is worth visiting

  • 4/5 Kaduru C. 1 year ago on Google
Quiet environment with big screens for projection, cooling AC effect. But the compound is too small to match its status as there is no parking space.

I easily immerse myself in the spiritual activities when I attend mass here on a Sunday. The ambience is divine and the choir is quite good. If you really like to dance during mass, especially during second collection, you may want to attend mass somewhere else. This place is quite solemn.

This is home to ALL Catholics. The Mother Church in Lagos Archdiocese. A good place to pray and meditate. The physical structure is a beautiful Gothic style architectural masterpiece any day built since 1939 and it is still looking new every day. A good tourist attraction. A visit to Lagos will be incomplete without visiting the Holy Cross Cathedral at the heart of Lagos Island. God bless our chief shepherd, the clergy, religious and lay faithful of Lagos Archdiocese forever more!

Wonderful place to worship for Catholics on Lagos island, the seat of the archbishop. Limited parking area around the church, but the city hall opposite provides parking sometimes

My annual pilgrimage for the chrism mass was fulfilling spirituality. The choir delivery of hymns was angelic. Everything went through smoothly. Thank God for his mercies.

The Seat of the Archbishop of the Catholic Archdiocese of Lagos. 3 Masses on Sundays with the 10:30 a.m. Mass being Latin Mass. Awesome.

A beauty to behold. This is the replica of St Peter's Basilica in Nigeria. The home and headquarter of the Catholic faith, and ArchBishop of Lagos. I am proud to be a Catholic!

It's on Catholic Mission Street, opposite Lagos City Hall. Lagos Island.

I must confess, I was so pressed for time that I didn't manage to get into the cathedral. However, it is so magnificent that one does not need to get in to be wowed by its grandeur. Just viewing it from outside made the entire experience of visiting Lagos worthwhile. The architecture was one to die for! I just love how churches are designed Gothic style.. Next time I'm around, maybe I just might get in.
