Loved
our
one
day
trip
from
Khao
Sok
village
to
the
lake.
The
tour
was
booked
at
a
special
price
of
1050
Baht
+
300
Baht
National
Park
entry
fee
at
the
Khao
Sok
Hostel.
Lunch,
afternoon
snacks
and
water
are
included
in
the
tour.
We
were
picked
up
by
minivan
and
drove
a
bit
more
than
an
hour
to
the
lake,
where
we
embarked
on
a
small
boat.
You
can't
be
sure
whether
your
boat
will
have
a
roof
or
not,
so
bring
sunscreen
and
a
hat
/
something
to
cover
yourself.
We
navigated
the
lake
for
about
1.5
hours,
the
landscape
is
spectacular.
It's
a
man-made
lake
that
was
inaugurated
1987,
flooding
the
mountain
valley
up
to
150
m
deep.
People,
villages
and
animals
had
to
be
resettled
for
this
project
to
generate
electricity.
After
1.5
hours,
we
reached
the
ranger
station
which
is
built
floating
in
the
water.
There
is
a
toilet
perched
upon
the
hill.
We
had
a
delicious
Thai
local
food
lunch
in
the
ranger
station
and
some
free
time
to
go
swimming
or
kayaking
before
we
drove
another
5
min
deeper
into
the
jungle.
The
guide
spotted
a
monkey,
a
tarantula
and
a
kind
of
flying
dragon
while
we
went
on
a
hike
to
Taloo
cave.
Wear
sturdy
and
old
shoes,
you'll
be
crossing
hip-deep
water
and
ankle-deep
mud.
Your
shoes
will
be
very
dirty
and
smelly
afterwards.
The
hike
is
quite
dangerous
at
some
points,
crossing
sharp
rocks,
small
fallen
trees,
slippery
and
steep
mud
sections,
plus
you
should
bring
mosquito
spray.
However,
it
was
a
total
adventure
and
a
great
experience.
We
saw
incredible
amounts
of
beautiful
butterflys,
dragonflys
and
yes,
ants.
At
the
caves,
you
can
either
wait
about
30
min
or
join
the
group
going
into
the
cave.
Water
is
deep
inside
there,
so
you
will
be
swimming
with
a
headlamp
on.
Most
people
went
in
in
swimwear.
You
can
leave
all
you
won't
need
outside
the
cave.
Afterwards,
you're
hiking
back
a
slightly
different
way.
All
in
all
it
was
a
wonderful
experience
a
bit
off
the
beaten
track.
