We expected very little and left very impressed. Free entrance This is an unassuming building south of town that looks more like a government office than a museum. The carpark was completely empty and the lady at the information booth looked surprised that two farang were showing up. To the left of the entrance there are some replica of Khmer temple stones that look a bit boring, don’t be discouraged and walk into the main building behind. Where you will see some explanations of the geology in Surin province. Continue walking toward the rear, this is where it starts to get interesting: there are many exhibits about the different ethnic groups that live in Surin, their way of life, culture, crafts etc. All exhibits have signs in Thai and English (very well written English). Some exhibits include life-size figures of villagers and their activities. There’s also a video about silk making and weaving (in Thai and English!) They must not get a lot of foreigners, despite the excellent English explanations: The staff asked us if they could take a picture of us while we meandered through the exhibits :-) This Museum is definitely worth a visit and the entrance is free. It beats many museums that charge a few hundred-baht entrance.

Easy parking and a nice 1 hour visit. What I really appreciated was that everything was in Thai AND English, that is extremely rare in Thailand. Entry was free

Located on the edge of town, this National Museum offers a glimpse into the history of the Surin area, its people and elephants of course. It is well presented, has information in both Thai and English and the entrance is free (at least it was when I went and I did not see a ticket booth). Interesting and worth the visit.

Wonderful museum. Spotlessly clean and well designed. Entrance was free for both Thais and visitors which was nice. Highly recommended.

Visited on a rainy day and we were the only guest the hours we spent there. The information booth was unmanned so we were a bit unsure how to behave there but was eventually guided inside. Noone we met spoke English, but since the signs are in both Thai and English it wasn't a problem but would be benefitial for the museum. The museum shop, or more a counter, was small, dark and dusty and is in desperate need of an upgrade. The toilets were clean. The building and garden is beautiful and the museum is worth a visit.

Well worth the visit, if you're in Surin! Interesting exhibitions about life and traditions in Surin. Explanations in English are available for several ones. Some could be expanded, would be interesting to learn more.

Thank you it's a good way to discover your culture. You should advertise more about it especially among Europeans .we like that and thousand times more interesting than shopping malls that we have also at home thank you again

Very limited details. Most are shows of general geology and global eras. Internet offers much more informations about Surin. Visitors parking area is directly under the sun while staffs' are under full shade. There were about 25 staffs in my vicinity while there was only one visitor which was me. 5 fans were in full blowing mode blowing no visitors in the building, probably for spiritual purpose.

😐 As far as roundabouts go, it's a nice one. But if I lived in a different nearby province I would not make a day trip to visit it.
