I was lucky enough to be able to plan my visit around the special time when the sunrises through all 15 doorways. The festival and the women dancing was spiritual, special and I felt honoured to be there. The buildings themselves are spectacular too, but visiting at one of the sunrise or sunset events is extra special. There's information on their Facebook page, in Thai, which can be translated with google. Highly recommend.

This place is amazing. Historical. Well preserved. 150 Baht entry for foreigners. Prepare for a good amount of steps up and ofcourse down. You'll love the rewards you're getting upstairs so its worth the effort. This renovated site holds many buildings a near complete outerwall and sculptures. The historical information center gives you clear in side and background history. Definitely worth visiting.

My visit to Wat Phanom Rung in Thailand was truly inspiring. This ancient temple, perched atop an extinct volcano in the Isaan region, is a hidden gem accessible by train or bus to Nang Rong, followed by a short drive. Considerations: Dress modestly, covering shoulders and knees. A small entrance fee is required. Visit during the cooler hours of early morning or late afternoon. My Experience: Wat Phanom Rung is a mesmerizing temple complex with Khmer architecture dating back over a millennium. Its intricate carvings and bas-reliefs depict Hindu mythology, showcasing remarkable craftsmanship. Exploring its chambers and galleries was like stepping back in time. The panoramic views from the summit are breathtaking, and the temple's alignment with the equinoxes adds to its mystique. Observing Buddhist rituals and meditating in its courtyards allowed me to connect with the temple's spiritual essence. Wat Phanom Rung is a testament to Thailand's rich cultural heritage and offers a profound, soul-stirring experience.

A well perserved Khmer temple. It has been restored and is well maintained. There is dual pricing for foreigners but the 100 baht for foreigners is not bad

Phanom Rung Historical Park is one of the most beautiful and important Khmer ruins in Thailand. While the park is 1 hour from the city of Buriram by car, it is worth the visit. It had multiple entrances. The front entrance is better for first time visitors as you will see the park at its most beautiful. The back entrance is less strenuous and recommended for older people.

It is a very beautiful and vast historical place. You have to buy tickets to enter. Parking space is huge. But there is two entry gates with parking. You have to exit the way you had entered otherwise there is huge distance between both gates. This place is a must visit place for history lovers

Visiting the Phanom Rung historical park was such a stunning and breathtaking moment. See this place as just a picture was unmatched to the actual visiting experience. Most of the architecture, decoration, and cravings are in excellent condition and very well-maintain by staffs. Tourist guide was really eager to tell the story and any facts about the temple. The area is also very clean and peaceful, comparing with other historical parks. There were a lot of tourists by the time we visited but it didn't diminish the magnificent of this place. Totally worth the visit✨️

This place is incredible. It's hard to believe it was built 1,000 years ago. Some of the stones are notched to fit together and the detail in the statues and trim is incredible. How did they make those stone spindles 1,000 years ago?

So much to see and admire before even entering the site. Phanom Rung Historical Park is a Hindu Khmer Empire temple complex set on the rim of an extinct volcano at 402 metres (1,319 ft) elevation. Located in Buriram Province, Thailand. Built of sandstone and laterite between the 10th and 13th centuries. It was a Hindu shrine dedicated to Shiva, and symbolises Mount Kailash, his heavenly dwelling.

Famous with the 4 events per year of sunrises and sunsets go thru all of the gates. that makes this place is very exclusive, thats why the event is very packed of both local and people from other provinces. So sad the picture is not like in Internet because as you can see, the hallway are full of smartphones and people.

Beautiful, historic and special place. The climb up to it is worth the spectacular views at the top. Restaurants nearby serving decent Thai food.

To be honest this was my first time here even to close to my hometown but I went to Cambodia for 7 wonders before here. It's quite similar design of "Ta Prohm" but smaller so still huge for me. Wondering I opened the google map both places not too far. Nearly from parking to the main building so not to hard to climb. I saw many elders who enjoyed to get to the top

Old temple ruins in very good conditions. Along the way inside you'll find many information panels describing the different site presumed purposes. Great view of surrounding areas. Cheap entry fee.

We visited on a Sunday afternoon, it wasn't very crowded and it was nice to walk around. There were signages in both English and Thai explaining the Ramayana stories of Vishnu and Shiva on the carvings on the temple walls. Very interesting and well preserved. Very impressed by the size of the compound and how intricate the carvings were. Should definitely set aside a couple hours for this place.

1.5 hour drive from Buriram city. Pranom Rung or full name Prasat Phanom Rung was built by the Khmer Empire between the 10th and 13th centuries.

It's magnificent. The only thing I can add is that as you are walking from the visitors center to the main section of the place off to the side is a modern building and it has a great restroom that is virtually unused.

Beautiful temple. Thank you to my important friend, it would be nice to meet you. But it is only me, you can trust on me forever. 🙂

It was really nice to see the stone roof and door guardian You can park in carpark 3 and pay an extra 50 baht but it saves the climb up the steps, for those who have trouble

This historical place is still stunning by it own history. Anyway, I found some areas are not well preserved as they should’ve. I visited during weekday. Less people

First visit to this historic site. It's a large area but a pity to see many buildings left with just pillars or stones lying on the ground. One can only imagine how majestic this place was during its peak!

It is a little more than 1000 years old and it is amazing to see how they constructed the Wat/Temple. It was also used for a Thai movie. There is quite an area to cover especially on a hot day but very much worth the effort. There are actually 3 seperate areas defined by gates 1,2 and 3 this is accessed using gate 3. There is also a small fee and a parking charge of 50 Baht.

Super The small little sister of Angkor wat. It’s worth a journey. It has a different mood. But learn before visiting about the history?

Old Khmer temple in Buriram. Nice to see and study

Went here in December. Perfect morning weather. I have seen the ancient ruins of Egypt, Roman, Greeks , and Babylon. This also ranks up there ( if you take the time to read information on the Khmer temple.)

It was great to see that this place has been taken care very well. Make sure that you have water to drink with you. Once you are up there, no shop is available. For all souvenirs, food, and drinks can be found in the lower front part of the park.

Beautiful temple including a mantle that was returned from the states to much fanfare. Hardly any non-local tourists, or any tourists at all. A real gem if you can get there. The nearby town/city of Buriram is a good base if you don’t mind the 130km round trip, which we managed just fine in a day.

Before going here I looked up pictures online and after seeing it in person those online can not compare. This place is breath taking. It sits on top of a small mountain about 2500ft. It's a small hike about 1 football field up the steps. Be careful cuz the steps are very narrow meant to be walked up barefoot and not in some size 10 USA size shoes. You can slip so watch your footings. As you come over the first set of climbs be ready for a super picturesque site. It'll remind you of Angkor Wat in Cambodia. But this place is smaller and built by most likely the same people as Angkor Wat. If you check the map it's not too far from the Cambodian border. There are gift shops, food and clean bathrooms. There is an entrance fee. They asked if you want to see one site or both. I chose 1 site and just walked to both cuz there is no one to check your tickets after the ticket booth.....

This is a majestic temple or palace. We came here early in the morning so we had the place to ourselves. Stunning architecture and details with lots of spots to take pictures that were Instagram worthy. The entrance fee for foreigners was 150. And must observe the proper dress code. It means no shorts or sleeveless for women. It's worth a visit.

Decent historical park, one of the most well-known in Thailand. Also an opportunity for a short hike up the hill to be at the main building. Crowded on the weekend and holidays. I wish there were more educational signs & materials at the site for visitors though.

Historical site environment, peaceful and reflecting a time of tranquility and meditation set upon a hill top caress by trees and vegetation yet providing views across the countryside. Many people absorbing the restful atmosphere and ambient tranquility.

A really beautiful old temple in very well-maintained surroundings. The entrance fee is really worth it to see this sight. The gardens are very well cared for and you can see the love that goes into maintaining the grounds.

Didn't expect to be there at 5 pm. So I have just 1 hour to walk around this amazing castle. However, I found out a beautiful place to see sunset :)
