Stay away! Playing fast and loose with history (mixed with flat out lies). Centered around the the bridge over the river kwai, the "museum" immeaditely gets sidetracked with a random array of exhibits (early humans, money collection, cesna airplane etc.). There are even remains of prisoners working on the deathrailway, which encapsulates the disrespectful approach of this place. Also they try to claim to be the "original" jeath museum, which is just a way to lure in people, who did not inform themselves beforehand. Just a way to Cash in on the "dark history" tourism

In serious need of repair and upgrade. It has so much potential given its historical significance during WWII, but let down by poor maintenance. As you walk inside, it felt like different stuff were thrown together 20-30 years ago and just left there to rust. Perhaps if you want to quiet place to rest and enjoy the view of Kwai River and the old bridge, maybe come here. Otherwise don’t bother.

I wish I could give a higher rating as this museum has a lot of relics from the WWII era. The place isn't necessarily well-kept, and a lot of the exhibits aren't managed well. If you can get in for a few of less that approximately $4 USD, it's worth checking out.

Certainly glad I went. The history is not showcased well, but there is certainly a lot of neat stuff to see and learn.

Mainly a World War II museum filled with Japanese military equipment that was left behind in Thailand after the war. The main hall has a several murals that honor Thai Soldiers that fought for Thai throughout the Thai's long history. Unfortunately, the English translation has some misspelling and some of the information is not completely accurate. On the top of the museum you have a great view of the bridge on the Death Railroad.

Great museum! If you are interested about history, you can pass hours and hours in this museum, learning about history. Very well presented. And many beautiful objects. It’s definitely worthed the 50 Bahts of entrance fee. Don’t miss a visit to this museum if you are visiting Kanchanaburi. You can also learn a lot about the history of the city.

Quite old. Missing the artifacts and can't read descriptions due to erase. If you have enough time, it is ok to go. Most cold place is drink shop. It is windy place :). entrance fee is 50b (May, 2023)

Interesting place to visit and learn some history. If you can, tour the area with a guide. The area can be busy with all the peeps taking selfies on the bridge. Recommended!

I thought this would be a silly tourist trap & it would be a fun afternoon. By the time we left, I was sobbing. This museum was created by Mr. Chansiri - a normal guy with an incredible story. He (and now his family) run this museum, so it isn’t a professional exhibit. But there’s so much love, intention and incredible message, it’s hard to not feel moved. An unexpected trip highlight, would absolutely recommend.

WW2 Musuem focused on Japanese occupation in Thailand during 1940s. Many historical items ranging from military pistols, train bogeys to Japanese typewriters. Also, the musuem has others section such as Thai history, Thai beauty pagent, Thai coin history and mineral types. Strange layout and building. Not well maintained but still worth visiting. Great scenery for viewing the bridge built by POWs.

I love hotchpotch musea like this. You could call the displays clumsy, sure. But it's all the better for it: plenty to explore and marvel at (despite the grim subject matter).

Some very interesting sections, although not very well maintained as there is dust and dirt all over the place. A bit eclectic as well. Several exhibits on WWII weapons and history, as well as some on subjects as far ranging as the history of Miss Thailand, human evolution, ancient Siamese princes, gems, and murals of Thai politicians. With obly a 40 baht entrance fee, you can slip in here if you're visiting the bridge. But otherwise don't go out of your way.
