This place is truly amazing. They have just opened three months ago and are really doing something good. We were struggling to go there at first because we heard so much about fake sanctuaries all over Thailand that are still mistreating the animals. This place though really takes good take of the elephants! The elephant wasn’t forced to do anything and could do what she wanted at any time. We were given a lot of helpful information and were asked to respect the animal‘s wishes. Nonetheless, we were able to interact with the elephant and were able to get to know a lot about her. We were feeding her, took a walk with her through the jungle and even gave her a shower. Again, she could have left at any time which she did at one point and the guides asked us to respect that and wait. This really showed us the warm-heartedness and care they feel towards the elephants and that they really want to do something good. The entry fee is going to be used to buy more elephants from horrible „riding camps“ to rescue them since they have just started the sanctuary three months ago! I would really recommend this place!!!

Had a great time at Phangan Elephant sanctuary. At first you are allowed to feed the elephants with various fruits while the keepers tell you about their past and how they‘re treated. Afterwards you have a „cooking class“, where you prepare small nutritionballs for them. Then we had a small walk with the giants in their natural habitat. You can feel the joy and thankfullness of the elephants. It was such a nice trip and we recommend it. It is a must do when visiting phangan and teaches you about the greatness of nature.

Beautiful place. It was fun to make food for the elephants. They are being held respectfully and everything is on her demands. Its really lovely! They are working to get the other (captured and ride-)elephants on the island to. But they need to buy them. So come here and make some food for these animals!

Thanks to all the beautiful souls working there and taking care for the elephant ladies. It was such a nice experience. When we arrived they offered us cold towels to clean us, cold drinks, coffee and Snacks. This is all included. They have shown us a short movie about tje elephants and how to treat them. We fed the elephants with fresh fruits. After that we had elephant cooking class and prepared healthy food for them. And the we could wash them with fresh water. It was sooooo good to see how these rescued elephants are treated and enjoying theirselves. Please go there and support the sanctuary. This is great work what the people there are doing

This place is amazing. My boyfriend and I stumbled upon it when exploring the island 3 weeks ago and decided to stop by and take a look. They told us they were closing but to come the next day to feed the elephant. It was just my boyfriend and I so we got the elephants all to ourselves and we got given lots of snacks while we made food for the elephants. The staff are all super knowledgeable and clearly care so much about the beautiful animals. Also, they told us that they had only been open for 9 days! If you get the chance I 100% reccomend stopping by!!

You definitely need to go there and support this amazing sanctuary. It’s an absolutly wonderful place where they take good care of elephants coming from poor environmens (logging, tourist traps like elephant riding, etc) The team was amazing and you could see they love what they are doing. Keep up the good work!

After reading through all Elephant Sanctuaries in Koh Samui & Koh Phangan, we decided to go to this one. Every other sanctuary did have some problems, reviews or things we didn‘t like about the people working with the elephants, for example how they were treated. We do not want to support these kind of facilities. We decided that we only wanted to look into this sanctuary by booking the 1 hour feeding time with making our own rice balls. As we arrived we got a teaching about how to act around the elephants and as well detailed information about their former living place (in Pattaya), which deeply saddened us. We were advised to not go near them without food and never from behind or the side as they have bad peripheral sight. We had a great time especially because we saw how much the elephants enjoyed the food and how they got treated from the caretakers. One could see that the elephants are really important to them and that they have a respectful bond between them. As far as we can judge, we would say that the elephants have a good life here and are treated the right and correct way. We think this one really is a sanctuary for the elephants. Thank you for this experience and for all the information. Truly unforgettable even with rain.
