This is TRULY GREAT I am often disappointed by restaurants with high ratings, but this is as reviewed. Actually better! Every single component of the Fish Taco was great: the green Salsa, the Pico de Gallo, the bed of marinated cabbage, the superfresh and tasty chunks of fried fish and the homemade Tortilla. The side of guacamole! You have to eat here if you love food. And no, 100-120 Baht for one of those thoughtfully composed Tacos is not too expensive, because non of it is storebought, but all homemade by someone who knows what they are doing and you can taste that. BE AWARE OF THE RESTRICTED OPENING HOURS (FEB 2022: wed+fri 12-4p.m./delivery on sundays) If you accidentally go there when they are closed, move on back to the old town area and visit for example Pinto, they have a beautiful place and an extensive thai menu with lots of vegetarian choices. But make sure you come back to Baja Taco when they are open. Otherwise you will miss out on one of your best holiday meals!

OMG love this place! Some of the best shrimp tacos I've ever had! Super helpful staff and unbeatable location right on a secluded beach. It truly doesn't get better

Best and most unexpected tacos restaurant ever. The place is a little paradise in the middle of the jungle. The tacos are incredibly fresh and tasty, yet cheap. Highly recommend it.

Tasty homemade tacos with an awesome view. Excellent service and a healthy, generous portion of delicious nachos and tacos. The shrimp taco was sublime; veggie options were pretty good too. Wash it down with a fresh fruit smoothie and you’re good to go. Picture of the pup-on-premise for dog tax. Enjoy!

This place is a hidden gem. This was recommended to us from another business owner on Long Beach and it didn't disappoint. The tacos are made from scratch from the salsa down to the tortillas. The chips are also made fresh. I highly recommend the shrimp and chicken tacos. The restaurant is also beach front with amazing views. What more could you ask for?

I'm an American and I take my Tex Mex food seriously. This was the best and most accurate Mexican restaurant in Asia. I know it seems hard to believe because it's in the middle of nowhere, but the shrimp tacos are incredible. The beach views from this restaurant are also stunning.

I am a huge Mexican food fan. I eat it pretty much everywhere I go, any chance I get. This was one of the best tacos and burritos I have ever had anywhere. Period. If you like Mexican food and you don't come to this restaurant, you are seriously missing out. 6 stars if I could.

Very tasty tacos in Thailand, don't miss if you're in the mood for something Mexican while on Lanta!

Beautiful location right on the water and amazing food! The tacos are absolutely delicious, and the homemade tortilla chips are so crunchy and tasty. The owner is super friendly and welcoming. It's a bit of a trek to get there from the west side of the island but so so worth it. Recommend to contact them if you're going with a bigger group so you can order in advance for speedy service. Also to update some previous reviews, it is now open every day from Wednesday to Sunday for high season.

Unbelievably good and well worth the effort to get there. The flavors of freshness drip from every bite. Everything in this place is literally made from scratch, including the corn and flour totillas, which is very unusual in Thailand due to the scarcity of masa and the fact that it's very labor intensive. My favorite was the Enchilada with beef tenderloin, which was actually more like a wet burrito. The beef was perfectly tender and seasoned. My mother had the shrimp and fish tacos which she boldly claims are the best tacos she's ever eaten. That's a massive statement given how many tacos she's eaten in Mexico, USA and around the world. The margaritas are also perfect. They're literally nothing i can crtitique or would tweak, and I'll likely return to Koh Lanta just to eat here again.

This place is a little out the way but we made the trip. The restaurant is very peaceful, there were only 2 other people in the restaurant that sits on the picturesque ocean front. The service was excellent and menu very varied and interesting, although slightly on the higher end cost wise. We had a burrito and tacos - both were excellent. The burrito wrap itself was freshly made from scratch, the freshest possible. I would especially recommend the prawn taco. Worth a visit.

The tacos were soooooo goooood! My favorites were beef steak and mushroom. The nachos with 3 sauces were really good as well and such a great view on top.

This place has incredible food!! 😍 I had fish tacos, mushroom tacos, and a pineapple mango smoothie, and everything was so so delicious!! This is the best smoothie I've had in all of Lanta - perfect flavor mixings and consistency! And the tacos had amazing flavor. I'm so surprised that a Thai place makes such great Mexican. I'd love to come back!!

Delicious Taco bar nestled into a beautiful bay south of Koh Lanta. Only open Tuesdays so book and order ahead. Using only natural and local ingredients you must get your taco fix here. The battered fish tacos are to die for spiced up with home made salsa. Be ready to spend a few hours here.

Only open Wed and Sat in the low season and the entrance is quite obscure, but you won’t be disappointed if you plan to get here. The food was AMAZING! Som, the cook/ owner puts her heart into her cooking and you can taste it! She orders jalapeños from Chiangmai and has a special supplier for her avocados. Everything was excellent, including the smoothies we ordered. We’ll be back the next chance we get.

What a gem of a place, great setting great food. All around awesome place to have lunch and coming from California it was a nice break to find Mexican food

  • 5/5 Kimberly H. 3 years ago on Google
Delicious and delightful, Baja Taco is a weekly highlight of Koh Lanta. All the tacos are yummy, especially the steak and mushroom! Beautiful view and nice spot to hang out for a leisurely lunch.

  • 5/5 Galen K. 5 years ago on Google
Hands down the most flavorful, perfectly spicy nachos and mushroom taco I've ever eaten. The chips and tortillas are made from scratch and are delicious beyond description. Salsas are next level! The setting is a therapeutic shoreside paradise right off the road (you walk down a steep trail to get there) you'd never suspect just driving past. Great for kids, as ours enjoyed the hammocks, the swing, and the beautiful shoreline views. I'm not sure we've ever felt so relaxed eating out as a family. If I could change one thing, it would be their portion sizes. We felt it was small, especially compared to customary Mexican fare.

Freaking amazing. I’m from CO/CA and these tacos were amazing, the salsas on point, pico de gallo tasted amazing. I got the beef and fish tacos and then chips and salsa. Highly highly recommend if you want truly authentic tasting tacos.

Well damn. Having lived in Mexico (tip of Baja, actually) previously, imagine my shock to drive past a place named Baja Taco in a remote part of remote and quiet Koh Lanta (I live in Rawai, Phuket). Then I see 6 motorbikes parked out front and who can say no to that at 14.00 on a Saturday afternoon? Ditto what other reviewers have written here. Superb and authentic...especially the salsas. I opted for 1 steak taco and 1 fish taco. Must check it out and if it's a sunny day, the drive is delightful from about anywhere. Very chill driving here.

Had a phenomenal burrito today. It’s not easy to get good Mexican anywhere in asia. But Baja taco has got it figured out. Authentic ingredients cooked expertly. What more could you ask for?

Best Mexican food I’ve ever eaten! Beautiful views. Really nice staff. Get the fish tacos! This is worth the drive 100%

Worth a wait! The only flaw that this restaurant has is the food took too much time to be ready to serve! I know it’s a home cook and you guys are terrific with cooking. However, you have many staffs, you should manage your cooking system to serve customer in appropriate time. (for me appropiate time is within 15 mins)

  • 5/5 Keir S. 1 year ago on Google
Food was so so so good! some of the tastiest mexican food we’ve had in SE asia! Location is a little off the beaten track in a super quiet area but is a nice family fun place by the water. Do beware of lots of mosquitos and bugs as it’s basically in the jungle! Had a great experience and the staff/family were so lovely!

  • 5/5 Ariel A. 1 year ago on Google
The food is excellent here. The owner spent years in Baja California and in the United States she loves Mexican food and makes everything fresh. We asked her if she could make a spicy margarita and she did it. It was awesome. If you want some Mexican food, this is the place to get it.

Totally worth the journey. Great nachos with guacamole and shrimp and chicken tacos were amazing. We also tried the lime and Thai iced teas, which were super refreshing! Quiet and Nice place to chill, with great view. Friendly staff and fast service.

The view is amazing. The place is wonderful. You can have a swim and relax for a full day away from the busy beaches of the west side of the island. The food is delicious and they did a good job Getting the true Mexican flavor. However the food is over priced compared to size of the portions. We had two tacos and a plate of nachos, the tacos were absolutely delicious with fresh ingredients and nice seasoning, but the portion was really tiny. The nachos was the most ridiculous thing ever. A small bowl with no more then 15 crisps, for 200 baht. They cam first and by the time the food came 3 minutes later, me and my partner we had finished them. I would like to say that they were really amazing, but they were just regular nachos. Despite that we order ours without cheese cause we're vegan, in the end there was no compensation on the price or drinks offer (we had a big bottle of water.) So overall even that ingredients were fresh, well seasoned, with an an amazing view (but you are in island you get a wonderful basically everywhere) I would not repeat the experience do the fact the portions are ridiculous tiny.

This is a really special gem on Koh Lanta. It's a nice moto ride away from all the tourist beaches. The food is absolutely delicious and full of flavor. The tortillas are homemade which makes a huge difference. Everything was fresh and the outside seating with a view of the water was so peaceful.

Best tacos in Asia, hands down. I'm from California, so I'm a real taco prude, and I never expected to be impressed by any Mexican food on this side of the world. But WOW. If this spot was in Cali, I'd still be singing it's praise as some of the best tacos in town. This is a true hidden gem on Lanta :)

  • 5/5 Peter S. 5 years ago on Google
Incredibly fresh, delicious, and well presented. The setting is as gorgeous as the food. We have lived in Thailand for 11 years and are huge fish taco fans - these are the best we have had! Will definitely return on our next trip to Koh Lanta!

Great seaside restaurant and an amazing place to find such wonderful mexican food. Loved everything and Ritas were exceptional. The view is outstanding with several tables right down to the sea. If you're in Kho Lanta dont miss this gem.

Amazing tacos, service and views! If you have a scooter on the island, make your way to this hidden gem! Beautiful view, tasty big meals that felt like something you'd get from a taco shop back home! Was the perfect meal. 10/10 Also the owner is so sweet and she has beutiful and modern cabanas you can stay as well! Wish I knew about that side of the island before booking my stay. I might also add finding this place was a little tough. It's a bumpy trial down from the main road (looks like a small hiking path). The only reason I was lucky enough to find it was because I saw a small sign when scootering around in desperate need of some food off the beaten path

Make the trip to “the other side “ of the island and taste some of the best tacos I’ve had (even in Mexico ! ) All the food is delicious, the view is magnificent and there was even entertainment (the pet dogs chasing the monkeys away from the restaurant) . Margaritas are pretty good too ! :))

  • 5/5 Peter U. 4 years ago on Google
Some of the best tacos I’ve ever eaten. The homemade tortilla shell was superior to any I’ve ever had (I eat a lot of tacos). The fillings were plentiful and the shell held everything up, no matter how wet, crunchy, or full it was. I had the mushroom (beat taco I’ve ever had) and the fried fish. Fish was battered in corn and the mushroom was sautéed and cut thin. The mushrooms must have been fresh oysters or shiitake, but the spice they used gave it that mushroom meat flavor. Highly recommend Baja, service was top notch, dogs guarded food from monkeys, and the view was awesome. Don’t be fooled Thais know tacos.
