Amazing
Thailand
We
came
to
Thai
for
witnessing
2018
Chiang
Mai
(Thailand)
Loy
Krathong
&
Yee
Peng
Lantern
Festivals
and
personally
celebrating
my
24th
belated
birthday.
Loy
Krathong
is
a
festival
celebrated
annually
throughout
Thailand
on
the
full
moon
day
of
the
12th
month
of
the
traditional
Thai
calendar.
While
in
Chiang
Mai,
Loy
Krathong
coincides
with
the
Lanna
(Northern
Thai)
festival
of
Yee
Peng
which
falls
on
the
full
moon
day
of
the
2nd
month
of
traditional
Lanna
calendar.
Yee
Peng
is
mostly
about
lanterns
hence
the
name
The
Lantern
Festival,
also
known
as
The
Festival
of
Lights.
A
“Krathong”
is
a
lotus-shaped
raft
that
floats
on
water.
It’s
made
of
the
banana
trunk
and
decorated
with
leaves,
flowers
incense
and
candle
before
being
released
down
the
river.
“Loy”
means
to
float
and
a
“Krathong”
is
a
small
handmade
boat
traditionally
made
from
a
section
of
the
banana
tree
trunk.
